Excellent, rapport qualité-prix exceptionnel, sans chichi, et très professionnel. À recommander sans hésiter! Foncez en particulier sur la seabass :)

The last time I visited here for brunch I was not particularly impressed. The service was appalling and slow, if it was busy I would be understand, but there was us and two other tables. We ordered drinks which took a long time to get, and then when we got them they forgot half of the essential materials to make tea! I ordered the vegetarian breakfast and asked if I could have a sausage on the side and I was told they weren’t allowed to do that! Ridiculous. I was obviously willing to pay the extra money for it. I just really fancied a sausage and I wasn’t allowed. My boyfriend asked for some brown sauce. They didn’t have any. He was not happy. Overall, I think the food is pretty average but you do get large portions, poor, slow service and not accommodating. The only thing I really enjoyed was the company I chose to dine with. Sorry Ginger Pig, I was really hoping for better.

Wonderful food — french style cuisine, great meats. Good value for the fresh food and great quality. Romantic atmosphere with dripping candles everywhere. The service is sometimes a little blunt, but that just adds to the French ambience! They don’t serve diet coke but allowed me to go buy my own.

I have a mixed opinion after our visit to The Ginger Pig. We didn’t have to wait for a table as there are no bookings and waitress was quick to take our drink order — tap water is supplied at no charge. The menu on our visit was brunch which was not what we were told over the phone(told that the lunch menu would also be available) and not what was advertised on the internet. I opted for the salmon which was lovely, served with lots of scrambled egg but merely 1 slice of sour dough. The volume of food(and price) warranted at least 2. All in all however a nice dish. My friends opted for the half monty and this is where it all went wrong. The food arrived barley warm — sausages were sent back. The portion was small and did not live up to any English breakfast standard. Again 1 slice of toast. Very disappointing. The boys left hungry which is NOT a good start to a Sunday!

Went for Brunch after looking at the menu online– huge menu. Looked amazing. Had already decided what to eat before I had arrived! Upon arrival was disappointed that the menu had been reduced to 4 main choices. I ordered a sourdough bacon and fried egg sandwich. I asked for egg whites and a coffee with milk. My friend ordered a mocha with half Monty. 25 minutes later we had yet to get any beverage– even water. When my coffee finally came my friend was told they didn’t do mocha. She got black coffee 8 minutes later. A few minutes after that I was told they couldn’t do egg whites! Are you kidding me?! Once the meals finally came her full English included a luke warm chorizo kind of sausage. My sourdough bread, egg, and bacon was disappointing as the bacon was barely cooked. Would not return.

Went for Sunday brunch after some friends recommended it and was massively disappointed. I went for the Half Nelson which was their version of a cooked breakfast. I got half a tomato, 2 of the smallest poached eggs I’ve ever seen, 3 rashers of bacon, a single slice of sourdough toast and more beans that this breakfast should have warranted. Along with this there was some kind of chorizo sausage that was lukewarm at best. After complaining about this it was replaced however by this point I’d finished the rest of my breakfast. I’d expect a lot more for £8! The friends who had recommended it remarked that was the first time they had visited in 6 months and the food had gone downhill so hopefully they can return to their old standards

The ginger pig café is a cosy place on hoxton street within hoxton market. The café is open for brunch and dinner. We dined on a Sunday afternoon, I was hoping to try the lunch menu however was informed that as they were busy the brunch menu would be served an hour longer until 4pm. Be warned everything comes in huge portions at the ginger pig café. The full Monty English breakfast is massive, unless you are super hungry or have a large appetite it is sufficient for two people. So massive that it requires 3 dishes to serve the full Monty breakfast including a huge trough of baked beans! I chose the healthier option of poached eggs with smoked salmon on toast. Again the portion was generous but manageable. I was also able to help eat 1 of the 3 slices of bacon and pork & leek sausages from the full Monty breakfast. The pork & leek sausage was particularly tasty made with good quality ingredients. Apart from the typical breakfast and brunch dishes there are burgers and rib eye steak on the brunch menu. The burgers looked quite appealing and were enormous as well.

I love walking down Hoxton Street market on a weekend, it’s that glorious mix of the new and trendy, that is still at glaring odds with the old school, proper east end ‘true grit’ stalls and establishments dotted down here. It’s difficult to say which end of the street you should start at to be honest, at one end you have the infamous gangland chicken and pizza parlour which is flanked on a Saturday by the very best Carribean caravan food stall you will ever come across in London(or quite possibly this hemisphere) In the middle of the street you have the well known and established Bacchus, outside of which a few farmers market hipster types have set out their food stalls in a brave attempt to build the triangle link between Broadway Market and Dalston(don’t get too excited, there’s a long way to go yet on that front) At the far end of the street you find the Ginger Pig café. As if to prove the juxtaposition of my first sentence, it is next door to the living embodiment of the Café off Eastenders. The food here is good. It’s actually excellent and everything I enjoy — local, good quality and easy going. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a bit of what you fancy — brunch is my fave. My only gripe is that it will get so popular bookings will be required to get near the place soon but don’t let that stop you — and don’t forget to visit the café next door to pick up some cakes to go, they’re actually very good.

Great local spot that is casual and cozy that’s great for dinners with good food and good portions. Ordered the duck salad and there were actual duck pieces(and not fatty). Typically you get a couple tiny pieces and the rest greens. This salad was filling and appropriate to be on the Mains list. I’ve heard good things about their brunch so will be back. Does not take reservations.

I cannot complement this place enough! A refreshingly modest hidden gem! I ordered the burger — surprise — and my friend ordered the lamb! The burger didn’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the new glossy burger chains springing up around London, but it didn’t need it, it was a good well cooked portion and very reasonably priced. The lamb did not disappoint either, my friend reported that it was to die for, and it looked it! For the price of the food and drinks you really couldn’t ask for better. I don’t know a great deal about the back story of this place but we were informed that they source much of the meat and other produce locally. They have a really extensive selection at the bar and the friendly staff can guide your choices. It’s also within great proximity of the bars of Hoxton and Shoreditch when you’re done.

Visited last night with a group of 4 and were simply amazed by the quality of food for the price. Great quality cuts of meat, prepared well with simple, but tasty sides. I had the smoked pork belly, which came with a side of purple slaw, pickles and chips. The meat was tender, fall apart and nicely flavoured, albeit with a few bits that were a bit crispy for my liking, and served with a tangy sauce. Service was a bit slow, but with only one very friendly yet overstreched waitress, you have to give her a bit of a break! Besides, £66 for 4 for dinner including a few drinks, you can’t really beat that. Have heard that their brunch is great as well, so look forward to coming back to try that.
