Everything about this place is awful. The service, the smell, the food, the beer… Initially was served a VERY flat beer and kindly let the server know… She humphed and took it to exchange and slammed it on the table with no verbal response when returning. My sisters sandwich was served on cheap white bread and my Fish & Chips were the worst I’ve had.

I’ve been coming to this pub for years, though only because a friend likes it. It used to sport a downstairs piano(with someone to play it), but that went some time ago. Its one good point is that it has two extra floors and never manages to be too busy-even downstairs. So, if you are in Covent Garden and actually want to sit down it’s a pretty good bet. The prices may be why it is never busy though, a hefty £4 plus for a pint-ouch!

It’s small. There’s more room upstairs. Have a look. The pies were pretty darn good! You should have one. The food is good in general and they have nice beer. Pretty generic pub, but lovely. I’d go back soon.

I came in here the other day to watch Argentina’s finest battle it out with the Netherlands for a place in the World Cup final(for any Americans out there who aren’t familiar — it’s the soccer equivalent of the world series, except it actually involves other countries). It’s your standard, modern-day British nuclear sub to be honest; overpriced, not enough places to sit, full of dirty, lecherous old men and serving lukewarm beer so weak that the French have threatened to invade it. Like Ron Vlaar did to his penalty, I’d give it a miss.

Never experienced such unfriendly staff! The batman was an absolute jerk and the barmaid wouldn’t even answer a basic question about the beers on offer. I left halfway through my drink…

Mouais.

We just just walked through the market area in Covent Garden and saw this place as a good place to take a break. I did a quick check on Unilocal and saw a review that commented on the smell. They were right. Might be a drainage problem in the building that would cause some to avoid this place completely. It was not too much for us, but with the average service and atmosphere, left us with a below average experience. We only stayed for a ½ pint. Staff seemed disinterested in their surroundings, but the service wasn’t bad per se. We’ll likely go somewhere else next time.

Meh! When we went in, the place stank. Drains problem I presume. But who cares… we’ll get used to it. After that, normal pub experience. The place was fairly empty on a Saturday night which was nice because we could hear each other talk. Service was a little slow. When it came time to close, we had no warning. They said they stopped serving at midnight, but refused to serve me when I went back for seconds at 23:50. Overall not very impressed. Just go next door.

This place is vile. Aggressive and rude, the bar staff tried to sell us an already poured glass of sweet white wine, rather than the Sauvignon Blanc ordered, before becoming insulting to a disabled friend of mine. Surly, unresponsive and not particularly hygenic. I wouldn’t advise anyone to visit this revolting place even if dying of thirst. I believe they have been reported to various bodies of late, lets hope someone shuts them, down, rather than allowing them to apparently coast by abusing and attempting to rip off the huge tourist market and locals alike. Avoid at all costs!

Offensive-want to leave zero stars. My wife just walked in here after a trip to the transportation museum with a friend visiting from out of town. Even after asking if it was ok to bring in kids(and being told yes) she was loudly berated by the bartender and told to «get the F— out there» because there were«too many kids» and that he didn’t need«their type of business» when queried about what that meant he said tourists. 1) your pub is in covent garden 2) we live here in London 3) my wife is British you stupid T—

I’m kind of torn between 2 and 3 stars. See, I don’t go out boozing in Covent Garden that much. Or, I try not to. This place has a great location, and screams«English Pub» with all its tat. On top of that, it’s got a decent selection of beers if something of a gremlin knocking up the prices just beyond what you think they’ll be(without being eye-watering, but still being eye-stinging). So, it’s fine. Not where you’d want to regularly go. They’ve got decent enough looking food — again, at silly prices — and, the big secret? Upstairs from the upstairs dining room, on the 2nd floor, there’s a spillover dining room, where you can almost always have a quiet seat. There I go: Now I’ve ruined it. Oh, well.

Stumbled in while wandering the bustling area full of young people grabbing a drink after work. It’s a very cozy environment, good to kick back in while downing some beers with a few friends. Went upstairs and the wait help was quite nice. Nice plate of lamb didn’t hurt either!

Located just off of Covent Garden, along a street that is home to a couple a theatres this pub is not one that will ever be empty. It’s got a nice first floor that is open with a long, wide bar, plenty of space. The upstairs dinning room is smallish but nevertheless is cozy and warm. The real gem of this pub is the very small outdoor deck that holds four tables for 2 – 3 people tucked in-between all the surrounding buildings. If you’re lucky enough to snag a table out here and the weather is nice, you’ll not find a more unique atmosphere than here. I believe this pub is a part of the NIcholson’s chain, although it’s not on any of the ale trails, but it means that it has the same menu, beer and ale is on tap. If you venture around during the warmer months, ignore the ground floor and head straight for the top, the privacy and uniqueness of the deck is worth experiencing.

The Globe is a pleasant enough pub. Very small, just one room with a few tables and chairs and a fireplace, but quite cosy. I went in there because I am a Hitchcock fan, and The Globe was a key filming location in his 1972 thriller Frenzy. The manager(an odd type) told me they filmed both the interiors and exteriors there, but on rewatching the film it was clear the interior bore no resemblance to what was in the film. In fact, just the exterior was used for filming. However, there is a big painting of Hitch in the stairwell, and no doubt they have attracted a few tourists and Hitchcock fans their way. I found the foreign girl behind the counter very pleasant, and a lot easier to talk to than the manager, by the way!
