There are two pubs right across from each other: The Defector’s Weld versus The Green. Both had friendly barmen and barwomen. Defector’s Weld… newer, more modern feel, a wee bit more upscale… a nice place for a first or second date to show her you’re a classy guy. The Green… older, more lived in, casual, and slightly cheaper drinks… a nice place for a Bromance with your mates to drink save a few ££££s. Or in my case, my wife whom I’ve been with since 1999. The Green had a variety of beers under £4, including some nice £3.65 bottles. This is your best bet if you’re on a budget but still want to go out drinking.

Good Pub! On vacation in London and staying at the hotel down the street. Nice friendly people, obvious local hangout and good food. This place was better then the pub that we had gone to over by Big Ben and much more reasonable. If you are looking for a good local place for good brew with a small varied menu no need to go further!

When I got to London, our Air B&B happened to be located right across the park(bush?) from The Green. My friend and I were a bit jet lagged, but we knew we wanted to have a drink, and there was The Green. I noticed that a few reviewers noted that this place is a good pub with nothing particularly special. But coming from New York, it felt exceptional to me.(Call me easily impressed if you must!) From the moment I walked in, it had a very cozy, comforting ambiance, from the lighting to the comfy chairs, to the section in the back that looked like we had stumbled into someone’s livingroom. The bartenders were all extremely nice, and I loved the selection of beers — not to mention the very tall glasses! We only bought one beer each before a few guys politely came up to us asking if they could get the next round. Two other friends we made ended up getting the next round after that, all just making polite conversation. And that’s how you talk to a pair of nice young ladies — American dudes, take notes! :D Sure, The Green didn’t recruit these guys to give us a warm welcome, but I’d like to think it had something to do with the good vibes all around. I miss this place already!

Apparently it’s the cheaper of the two dueling pubs on the corners of this street. It’s conveniently located near the O2 Empire and it is cheap. Service was nice, They almost overcharged me but I noticed the mistake and they quickly fixed it. Nothin special.

First impressions, nice place with interesting décor However I wasn’t impressed with their drinks selection(also wasn’t impressed with their ‘shooter’s menu, just made me feel like this was geared to being a place just to get drunk) and couldn’t find anywhere to sit upstairs(the tables seem geared towards large groups), so was renegaded to downstairs which was very dingy. If you can’t get in other places, going here wouldn’t be a crime, but it’s nothing special to write home about.

i like the green. when i went to school in shepherd’s bush we used to come here between classes and get food and it was always decent. they used to have a nice sandwich with pulled pork and apple sauce on a baguette until one day they started mysteriously being«out» of it all the time, which was sad. after that it was sort of downhill for the green, but we still came here for drinks all the time and the staff was really friendly. they have a nice wine special, where you can buy two glasses and get the rest of the bottle free, so you end up spending like 7.50ish on a bottle which is pretty good. the drinks at the green helped me through many boring classes, and i have so many fun memories from here, so even though it’s sort of crap, they’re getting a nice three stars from me!

We couldn’t get in the Defectors Weld last night, it was late and the bouncers were being difficult as usual, so came here instead. Actually it was probably a better choice as we wanted to sit and talk and we got a table here straight away, and the music wasn’t too loud so the whole table could join in the conversation. There is a pretty good choice at the bar and this is normally a good place to watch football as there are various big tvs.

This is a kewl place. Good drinks, friendly staff and good for a conversation. It often tends to be a «Bob Fest«so it depends on what you are looking for.

The Green is one of those pubs you go to that you know is safe and easy. The pub hasn’t tried to hard and has almost taken a blueprint of what it *thinks* a pub should look and feel like and built itself around this mould. Unfortunately, many pubs are like this around London, it’s nice when you find something more quirky and unsual. Quirky and unusual, The Green is not. The pub food is really, really bland and bog standard, the clientele are a mix and the beer is a little stale. With the Defector’s Weld just across the road, I know where I’ll be heading for my Shepherd’d Bush pint, it won’t be The Green.

The Green is a reasonable choice in Shepherds Bush. Sometimes the clientele is a bit on the nutty side and don’t even think about going on a Saturday evening after QPR home games(you won’t get in anyway without a home ticket) but it’s a pretty decent stop-gap pub and Rangers fans are warmly welcomed. The Staff are friendly enough, the menus reasonable, the food a standard pub affair — which isn’t a bad thing — and there’s a downstairs for bigger gatherings. Not bad and also very close to the Hammersmith and City Line.

This Smith & Jones pub competes for attention with the swanky Defector’s Weld across the road. Usually this isn’t really a problem though, as the two pubs attract very different clientele. There’s a good two-meals-for-the-price-of-one deal which makes it a cheap place to grab some lunch while catching a bit of sport on the various screens around the place. Its quite a bright place, fairly comfortable but not spectacular. The staff are generally unremarkable. The Green does not boast a huge amount of character but is perfectly adequate if all you require is a place to drink your pint and watch your team.
