I’m searching many places in town for proper sushi and now I found it HERE! Nice food nice service! The dragon roll is amazing, must try it :) Another recommended dish is the black cod with miso.

The BEST sushi I’ve had in London so far! Perfect rice portions and quality ingredients. The wine list is great too! Absolutely a must visit if you want sushi the right way!

I found the previous reviews overrated. It is an OK restaurant, but Japanese food here is too greasy and overpriced. The decoration doesn’t feel authentic Japanese. I wouldn’t repeat this restaurant.

I went here over the weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Usually, I’m not a fan of expensive food but Tsunami comes within a small list of exceptions. To put it simply, you get great quality authentic Japanese food that’s a touch above your average sushi stop in Central London. Given so, the restaurant is quite pricey with some dishes being over £30 but worth it considering the dishes are generous in comparison to food belonging to this price category. I’d recommend ordering a bowl of rice with your orders as I found myself still feeling hungry after my Angus Rib Eye. For starters, I ordered a dish of Chicken Gyoza. Nothing immediately impresses me about this dish — it is what it is — but most importantly it tasted how it was supposed to taste so I can’t fault it or comment on it too much. TIP — they come out very hot so don’t make the same mistake as I did by stuffing your mouth full of Gyoza or feel the food burning the insides of your mouth! My main meal was more impressive in both taste and visual aesthetics — Angus Scottish Rib Eye«Dynamite» beef which was immaculately presented in a mountain of thin sliced cuts drenched with a surprisingly sour but pleasant marinade that turned into a sweet and spicy after taste. I didn’t count how many slices there were exactly but it was more than 10. Asking for medium-rare was not a disappointment and I only wish I had a bowl of rice to keep me feeling full. The more you eat, the chillier the dish becomes. I also had the chance to nibble on a piece of the roasted pork belly. Despite how deliciously tender it was, it tasted rather strangely of duck, slightly disappointing — the peanut(Hoi Sin) sauce on didn’t help. I’m just glad that I didn’t order it as a main. I think I should mention that the staff were all very friendly and they offered a first class service from the time I walked in — they did a great job at bringing out the birthday cake so thank you to them for accommodating one. I would be more than happy to come back again.

Hands down the best sushi of my entire life. Started off with spicy edamame(which was perfectly spicy), and orders of octopus and yellowtail nigiri. Ended up ordering two more octopuses they were so damn good. For sushi I went with the spicy tuna, lobster maki, and snow crab rolls. The flavor development was insane. I was so impressed with the attentiveness of the waiters and the speed of service. With the Monday 40% off offer, my bill only totalled £ 62. Absolute must for anyone in London.

Slow service to start but the food was great. Good mojitos. The berry one was a lot of berries! The original was not sweet, which is how I like it! Fish was very fresh.

I’d venture 4.5 stars. The décor was inviting, relaxing and warm albeit a small venue. We had wine a Prosecco, yum! Ordered sun kissed scallops and hot udon noodles to start. Wow! Scallops were amusing to the eye and tasty. Noodles mild and soft. We then ordered sushi, so good! Nice bite sized pieces, and fresh. Highly recommended.

My absolute favourite japanese — would not eat anywhere else! Gets really busy so would always book in advance. Great ambience and lovely staff. Its pricey but they do an offer on Mondays and Tuesdays up to 40% off. They also make lovely cocktails! Recommend to try the black cod!

Amazing! The Truffle Rib-Eye Beef will change your life. I found Tsunami using my trust Unilocal app while visiting the BF who has a long term assignment in London. It was a bit of a trek from our hotel, but totally worth it and I can’t wait to go back the next time I’m in town. I started with the Shonabi cocktail, which was both pretty and tasty. The Edamame was as expected. I was very tempted to order to Dragon Volcano Roll since it apparently won an award but for £25 price tag, I couldn’t rationalize it amidst my eating plans for the week. I settled for the Mini Volcano Roll which easily held up on its own… it was spicy, sweat and creamy(but in a good way) all at once and it amounted to pure tasty magic.(I’m definitely splurging on the Dragon Volcano Roll next time.) I also ordered the Truffle Rib-Eye Beef after jealously eying the gentlemen sitting at the next table over. I asked the waiter and he described it as a mixture of truffle and and teriyaki and«quite sweet.» I was obviously sold and was not disappointed. It was a decadent blend of flavors and the beef perfectly medium rare, so moist and flavorful. I can’t wait to go back and have it again! Otherwise, Tsunami is relatively small and the tables are pretty close together, and it gets pretty loud between patrons talking and the background music. The service was gracious and timely. I’m holding out on a 5-star review until I try this luxurious Dragon Volcano Roll on my next visit.

Went for a meal at the Charlotte Street Branch of Tsunami and had a lovely evening there. Staff were attentive and the food was really tasty. We shared snow crab dumplings and sunshine tuna as starters which were both fantastic. For mains the hot chilli beef and roast duck breast were again both very tasty however the duck dish could have done with more sauce. Chocolate fondant won over for desert! Although the food was lovely portion sizes were pretty small and the bill was very high. Doubt I’d return again due to the high prices.

Used a Living Social at Tsunami last night & it was very pleasant! Service was efficient & friendly, everything we ordered was brought out perfectly at a few dishes at a time as opposed to all at once. We thoroughly enjoyed: Nasu Goma(grilled aubergine with sesame paste), this was melt in my mouth delicious. Beef tataki salad with yuzu dressing, very tender & full of fresh flavour. Shojin tempura selection, normally tempura isn’t my thing, but the vegetable variety was good, standard. Hot udon noodles in light soya & dashi broth with spring onion, which was absolutely delicious. Sushi: mini volcano roll, spicy tuna & avocado & the lobster maki, which were all good, but all the dishes we had before the sushi were definitely the standouts. Will visit again to try more off the menu.

Like… I want to hate places like this. I want my Japanese food to be either a) expensive and divine(Dinings), or b) amazing value(Misato). This place is neither. It is expensive and really good, but nothing to write home about. They use a few expensive ingredients to sus up otherwise pretty standard Japanese staples, then charge a premium. That being said, we ate some really nice things here the other night. Tuna roll with truffle mayo: Classic example of the above statement. It was, however, a really tasty combination. Beef Tartare: the star plate of the evening. Beef tartate in yuzu black pepper sauce with fish roe. It was both beautiful and I sort of wanted to DRINK the sauce. Really nice. Steamed Sea Bass: Nice, classic preparation with ginger, soy, sake, etc, tasty yet somehow lacking. Grilled Sesame Aubergine: my second favourite dish of the evening. Piping hot(temperature) with creamy peanut/sesame topping. Udon noodles: really flavourful broth and nice, fresh noodle with proper texture. Tempura: It was fine, but probably wouldn’t get it again since I can get this anywhere. Tuna tartate with quail egg: Really nice, but not the best I’ve had. Sashimi plate: Yum. Trendy atmosphere, this would be a good date place(as sharing is always nice), but only if you can afford it :-P

I really enjoyed the food at Tsunami — Definitely worth breaking down the details. Food Sashimi — really small portions, good but def not the best Tsunami roll — extremely underwhelmed Unagi & Foie Gras Nigiri — a must! Softshell crab roll — a must! Grill aubergine — surprisely delicious Seafood tempura — deliciously fried! Black cod miso — Delicious! Beef Foie Gras — really good but def japanese portions Dessert Platter for 2 — definitely finish the meal with the variety plate. Chocolate ball thing — don’t bother — extremely underwhelmed Décor — very pretty, a little cramped but comfy Service — Attentive and level of service Overall, I really enjoyed the food but did feel that without the 50% off toptable deal, I think we would’ve ended up leaving the restaurant still hungry.

I have been to Tsunami twice for their lunch deal. How can you say no to two courses for £15? Especially with food like they serve. Although, I always end up spending more because of the supplement dishes — the Wagyu beef main especially is exquisite. Also, if they have the Korean spicy miso lamb chops for a starter get it, just get it, even with the supplement. Great food, great interior, what’s not to like? Whenever I go for lunch somewhere else in the area and end up spending £10+ for some food that isn’t particularly great all I can think of is that for a few pounds more I could have had a great meal at Tsunami instead. Highly recommended for their lunch deal.
