The most brilliant brunch I’ve had. Me and my friend ordered two different dishes and shared them, one savory and one more to the sweet end. I kept finding myself eating a bit more than I should’ve of each dish — not leaving a complete half to my friend — which is a very good review cause I’m usually not a greedy person. Very spacious and bright inside too, making it a nice place to eat. The bathrooms were a delight too, I would go there for them alone.

This place is fantastic, and full of space for groups large and small, and a menu that is just bursting with options. It’s definitely one to frequent. We tried a blueberry muffin, yoghurt pot, tea and coffee. Each were very nice(though the yoghurt was super thick with all those oats). Great selection of teas, sandwiches and treats! And the overall facility is quite clean and tidy. We’ll be back soon for those sandwiches ;)

Excellent food and coffee. On weekends either book or come before/after rush. Its rather dark inside but there’s one big shared table with stools by the window which is great. Becoming a regular.

I could happily write love poems to this place — if I were any good of a poet, which sadly, I’m not. So these 5 stars and my endless love for this place with have to do. Brunch — oh boy, where do I start? Being on of my favorite meals of the day — Workshop doesn’t disappoint with it’s creative spin on the comfort foods of eggs Benedict, pancakes, full English. Each with their own little twist to make the dishes that much more delicious. I had the corn fritters — crispy little delights topped with perfectly poached eggs, spinach, grilled halloumi and home made tomato chutney. I could have happily eaten the dish three times over. We spent quite a while umming and ahhing over the menu, there really is a great selection for all tastes. The coffee is bang on too. Perfect. Workshop — I love you.

This is my go to brunch spot. The coffee is excellent, the food is great and they know how to make a mean Bloody Mary. Either go for the baked eggs, the corn fritters or the French toast. Actually go for anything you like because it will probably be good! Service is a bit patchy and the manager can be a bit rude but when you’re in a hipster haven you sort of expect it. Been here 10+ times. Will keep going back.

We came in around 9:30 on a weekday morning and were seated right away. I really loved the aesthetics of the interior. Beautifully done and comfortable. Our service was average. We asked for white americanos, which usually means warm or hot milk, but got a lukewarm cup, with ice cold milk to add. We also ordered a pain chocolat, which was delivered promptly and was delicious. Cut to the food, which was *beautiful* to look at and photographs really well, but unfortunately, lacked in the flavor department, especially for the price. My girlfriend was *not* into her eggs benedict, nor I into my baked eggs and hard, burned toast, so we swapped. But, neither of us were very satisfied. The poached eggs were cooked well, the muffin was fine, but the spinach was vinegar-y and the ham hock salty and dry. But my biggest issue was the«chipotle sauce» atop the benedict. Eggs benedict has hollandaise. Period. You want to change it up? Grand, chipotle hollandaise it is. But this, I kid you not, was cold chipotle mayo plopped on top which kind of created a sauce as it met the warm eggs and ran down the sides. I couldn’t get over it. Mayonnaise. Our original server disappeared and we got a new one, who was much more attentive. We got the bill without picking up beans, which is what we’d initially planned to do there. But at £32 for breakfast for two, we were ready to skidaddle. I’d maybe pop in for a coffee or a pastry, but don’t know that I’d eat breakfast here again, as beautiful as the food is.

A pretty cool coffee shop in Clerkenwell with a huge island in the middle which you can sit around whilst some cool looking hipster guys make coffee. I decided to have a latte which was served quickly but found my coffee to be pretty mild, it was also lukewarm. I also found the baristas a touch offish and a bit pretentious, i don’t think ill return, the place looks great but just found it cold and not inviting. I also could not get any wifi signal.

Was here for a quick coffee chat, and the cozy spot got the job very well. My cappuccino was served hot and frothy just the way I like it. Whilst not spacious, the ambience was intimate and homey which I really enjoyed. However, note that it is a sharing sofa seat system around the wall, and the tables are very close together, so you may not be able to hold any private conversations. A good place for a quick coffee fix in the hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus.

Much like Harry Potter and his Room of Requirement, this place just seemed to get me. I came here with a mate after dragging her out of bed on a Saturday morning to come to the gym with me for a particularly fiendish body pump class. I know, I too used to roll my eyes at those who would dare to violate the sanctity of the weekend lie-in for such sweaty pursuits, but lo I have recently joined the lycra-wearing masses myself. So it was that we hobbled here in dire need of a pick-me-up. And oh how this place delivered. We had to wait 15mins for a table, which was fine as another friend joining us was running late. Cue a very friendly front of house, with genuinely amusing banter about our mate’s navigational abilities. We were seated at one of the high wooden tables on the ground floor, the perfect place to spy on the cute baristas behind the counter at the back and people-watch out through the large front windows to the street. It’s one of those exposed-ceiling industrial interiors that manages, through a few little touches, to feel warm and friendly and someplace you want to linger. I wanted coffee; they brought me a beaut of a cappuccino. I wanted to eat practically everything on the menu; my mate offered to go halvsies on a couple of things. I wanted both savoury and sweet; they had a great selection of both. Everything magically fell into place, and that was even before I discovered just how tasty the food was. I’m actually close to drooling at the memory of their corn fritters and poached eggs on sourdough with halloumi and tomato kasundi(a type of tasty relish). We followed with the french toast with poached plums and orange mascarpone. Simply delicious with generous portion sizes, and I liked how there seemed to be at least one unexpected ingredient in each dish on the menu. It was a good feeling to refuel on hearty but high quality food, rather than anything too greasy or heavy, and the prices are also reasonable. I left feeling like this place had given me a great big bear hug, which is sometimes exactly what you need :)

Good coffee(well, good latte). Very good carrot cake. The staff was nice enough. However, it feels a bit dark and gloomy in there(particularly surprising as today was so bright and lovely!) and got a bit loud at times — not loud from other people’s conversations, but loud from the music(which I swear got louder the longer we were there…) I rarely have a reason to go to Clerkenwell, and this isn’t one. I’d return if I were in the area and looking for a bit of food, but wouldn’t seek it out. Honestly, I’d be more concerned about remembering it was there — it just wasn’t a memorable experience?

Love their breakfasts and brunches, but be warned: you’ll have no chance of getting in on the weekends if you don’t book a table beforehand(or get there ridiculously early). Delicious fresh juices and well-poured coffee. Their perfectly cooked eggs(with bright yellow, runny centres) and fluffy stacks of French toast make it an Instagrammer’s dream. I’d give this five stars, but I find it to be a bit overpriced, IMO. Still, a lovely spot to meet with friends for brunch or coffee … if you get there before the mid-morning rush. Moral of the story: if you’re feeling bright and sprightly on a Saturday morning and you just got paid? Go for it. Otherwise? Head somewhere else.

Londoners love this place– I think we trekked 45 minutes on the underground to get here! Coffee is superb(cappuccino and hot chocolates included!), décor is woody, a little earthy, and quite welcoming, service is good. Friends love the haddock fish cakes and the corn fritters. Buttermilk fried chicken wasn’t as good– white meat thin pieces of chicken were a bit too low fat and too thin to survive deep frying at optimal flavor/texture, but the chips were good. Next time I think I’ll grab the full benedict and see if I survive the cholesterol, or maybe the french toast if I want to be sane… Solid 4 stars.

Come on, if you want coffee and you want it good, then workshop is the place to head to. It’s just around the corner from my office and for the last few weeks it’s served as a Friday 4pm treat, by god is the brew good! The beans change from time to time and they actually roast them in the back of the very cool warehouse feeling café. Normally have about ¾ aeropress options on the go too, but at £4 a pop I normally keep these for any lingering hangovers. The drinks are huge but nothing is lost in the quantity, it’s actually the perfect amount for the taste. The black Americano, my normal, is great. Wakes you up, tastes almost creamy and isn’t bitter at all. They also maintain a very good looking cake and pastry section on the counter. See you Friday(again)!

Really great coffee, like, world class. And the eggs on toast and eggs Benedictine is great. Full breakfast didn’t do it for me though. It’s a little dark inside, there is no wifi and very little reception other than by the window. I get not encouraging lurkers, but I often grab a coffee by myself and I do miss the Internet… Staff are really lovely. So again, great coffee, good place, but misses out from five stars by a nose.

Stopped in for a spontaneous brunch on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30PM. Got a table for two straight away, and service very quickly. The coffee was flavourful and didn’t need sugar(yay!), and the food was plentiful and tasty. I had the Full Benedict — two eggs, poached perfectly(no egg moulds or rubbery yolks here!), on top of English muffins with ham hock and wilted spinach. The hollandaise had a touch of chipotle going on, which was good, but I could have done with a bit less sauce. In past, I’ve had the French Toast and been very pleased, but don’t remember much in the way of details beyond that. Definitely worth a shout if you’re looking for somewhere to grab a meal on one of the tricky weekend days without a reservation.

First time having breakfast here and it was just what was called for, the coffee here is excellent so the mocha was always going to be a winner and the«full benedict» comes slathered in a punchy Chipotle hollandaise which really hits the spot. I often come here for lunch and the menu seems to change seasonally, it’s always worth a look and the staff are really amiable too which always helps.

Workshop coffee is my go-to brunch spot for friends near and far. The coffee is delicious, but definitely pricey(£4−5 for a «specialty» like a cappucino) so that’s the –1 star The food though… so good. It’s fresh, simple, and the portions are quite generous. Do yourself a favor and order the banana bread with whipped marscapone and figs. Pair with an Americano and a good friend and you have got yourself a perfectly wonderful weekend afternoon!

Wow! Now this is more like it! A dimly lit, modern yet warm space, set back from the road. When I was there, Portishead and Massive Attack were providing a sultry, moody soundtrack. Who would have thought a coffee house could make a great location for a 2nd or 3rd date? We haven’t even got to the food, drink or service yet. The coffee is certainly impressive. I was a fan of Workshop’s coffee before I came here so the top quality of the Columbian aeropress filter I went for didn’t surprise me. What did surprise me was the price: £4 may still seem high to Aeropress sceptics, but it’s actually good value — nearby Prufrock charge between £4.50-£5 and the more distant Talkhouse Coffee £3.30-£4. Service was friendly, and admirably quick, if perhaps a little gruff — they did seem a bit short-staffed. Being served a glass of tap water was a nice touch. Another plus of this place for me was that it pioneers what I think should be a natural direction for top coffee houses — it sells craft beer too. Just two on the bar menu, it’s true, from Camden and the Kernel, but still, it’s a start, and a welcome way to break up one’s caffeine intake during long stays. I didn’t try the food, but the menu is comprehensive. The fact too that mere drinkers such as I were confined to the bar shows how seriously they take the food side of things. Like most serious coffee houses it also sells coffee-making equipment for the enthusiast: Aeropresses, Hario V60s and such like as well as digital scales for weighing out those beans. They also have plenty of their coffee — beans and ground — for sale too. One major downside for me was the stunning lack of wifi. That, plus the poor mobile reception inside made surfing near-impossible. I actually have to wonder whether that’s a deliberate move to deter the low-spending, long-loitering student crowd. It is annoying but not quite enough to dislodge its 5 star status for me.

Well, when one gets to eat at a place with the one and only person that«FTR“ed it, it deserves an update I think! Met Uli B here for breakfast(you can all thank him for reviewing this first!) — and was delighted to find rhubarb french toast with heavy cream on the menu. Well of course, I’ll have THAT. Plus, two scrambled eggs on the side which came out perfectly. Just how I like them. Top it off with a beautiful chamomile tea, and this was a very enjoyable breakfast. It’s always a treat to eat at Workshop, especially midweek when things are a bit calmer and there is no rush or que.

Bön Prix, isn’t it !
