Wow, what history. One of a handfull historic and exceptionally old pubs in Lindon. Right next to St. Paul’s, so don’t miss.

You will find Ye Olde Watling in Watling Street London within a short stroll of Cheapside, Mansion House Tube and Cannon Street — however you won’t find another like it. Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its quality pub food, which are served, as they should be, with a generous measure of famous British hospitality. Said to be built from old ships’ timbers by Sir Christopher Wren, Ye Olde Watling has a remarkable heritage dating to 1668. It stands on Watling Street, a Roman road leading out of the City via Ludgate. One claim to fame is that some of the upstairs rooms were used as a drawing office during the building of St Paul’s Cathedral and catered for Wren’s workmen after the Great Fire. Ye Olde Watling is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson’s collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.
