Went for dinner here yesterday with a vegetarian friend so tried to find somewhere that would suit us both! Firstly, the staff here are wonderful — warm, attentive and in no rush whatsoever so happy to leave us to chat and really browse the menu — a rareity in Didsbury especially when they were full and had a birthday party in! Now, the food! We were spoilt for choice but finally settled on 3 tapas and 4 meze plates between us. Everything was beautifully done and the portion sizes were huge — the hummus is some of the nicest I’ve ever had in the UK! My favourite dish was the beef meatballs(ginormous) while my friend loved the aubergine balls. Better yet, with a Tastecard this place takes 50% off. Just amazing; I think I’ll soon be a regular!

We ate a mid-/late-afternoon dinner there today and we loved every aspect. They had a special deal whereby(certain) starters were 3.50 pounds/each(or 4 for 10 pounds) before 5:00 p.m. and(a very limited number of) entrées were 8.95 pounds/each before 5:00 p.m. I had the vegetarian pasta entrée and my husband had the mariscos entrée, both of which were delicious — but we were still a little hungry, so we ordered(and shared) two starters afterwards(hummus and tzatziki). Those were also delicious(the serving sizes weren’t large, although certaily sufficient) and the hummus was probably the best we’ve ever tasted. The pita bread was warm and very tasty. The two servers were *super*-nice young guys. The interior of the restaurant is very attractive, with lots of art and some photos on the walls. Also, the restroom was spotless. Note that the restaurant is located in Didsbury(just down the street from the entrance to the Old Parsonage Gardens).

Owned by the same folks behind Dimitri’s Deansgate, Olive and Vine welcomed friends and I a few weeks ago with open foodie arms. Located in front of The Didsbury pub and a short walk away from my favourite Botanical garden(Fletcher Moss) this intimate Greek foodie haven is already a favourite with the locals. All the Tapas looked delicious so we decided(between the 4 of us) to go for the 8 for £40 deal and add more if necessary. Predictably My favourites included Lamb chops, Mussels and Funghi in blue cheese sauce. Admittedly this particular visit was more about catching up with friends rather than focusing on food. This meant that amidst flowing conversation the Tapas was gone before we knew it and our collective recollection of the food was hazy at best.(The Vino didn’t help) Look out for a more detailed review after the next visit. All in all the vibe was fantastic though and I highly recommend this place for a quiet intimate dinner.
