Thoroughly overpriced for what you get to eat here. The staff are very helpful and nice but at the end of the day, you wont get a good deal for the money you pay.

I much prefer this restaurant to San Lorenzos. It’s not the cheapest pizzeria in the area but consistency is what I like most about Pizza Express. My delicious favourite pizza tastes and looks exactly the same each time we go there. I like the wine and desserts there too. Personally I have always found the well-trained staff to be attentive and professional in every way. So attentive, in fact, that they try to sell you as much food and drink as possible(good business practice though.)I agree that the atmosphere is sterile and it’s more of a lunchtime or teatime venue. I wouldn’t choose it for a special night out. For more ambience and good basic Sicilian food and Italian hospitality, the Bella Sicilia at the north end of the High Street is definitely worth trying. For a more expensive treat, the Sardinian restaurant, Adriano’s, is worth a visit. It’s next to the Ahad Tandoori, near the County Hotel. My wife and I enjoyed our first visit there recently.

This simple pizza restaurant which is part of a nationwide chain would never be my first choice for pizza and pasta on the High Street, but nevertheless, it is quite pleasant and family friendly. For pricing, for authenticity and for atmosphere, I’m afraid that it can in no way compete with San Lorenzo, just a few doors down. This outlet is quite bright and clinical — alright during the day, but not cosy enough when it comes to evening for my liking. It has a fairly sterile atmosphere to me. We went near Christmas and even then it failed to inspire. They do have a good kids menu which is excellent value, but the adult offerings are pretty bog standard and are quite expensive compared to other local independent pizza places. Service was mediocre — staff weren’t as attentive as I would like even though the restaurant was quiet — it took quite a while to pay the bill. All in all, it was ok — but I would only go here if you have a discount voucher or San Lorenzos is full!

A bit soulless this restaurant I found, but quite pleasant. The food is good, if a little expensive, and the kids menu is very good. Worth visiting when they have a special offer on. The staff are average, when we visited they were more interested in chatting to eachother than serving. It isnt quite as good as San Lorenzo further down the same road.

Id echo other comments that this branch is family oriented. the pizzas are good but parking is an issue with no immediate parking available. You ahve to park about 100 yards away which is not far but it across a busy road and not obvious unless you have good directions.

There are always a lot of children at this branch of Pizza Express, due to it being on the high street in Gosforth, but if you are child free the staff will always try and sit you in a quiet spot — if possible. Good service and friendly staff and the wine and peroni’s is always well chilled. If you have eaten at a Pizza Express you will know that the food is always good as they stick to the same formula at all the restaurants. The new extra thin Roma pizza’s are bigger than the regular ones.
