Wow this place is amazing! From the moment I walked in I was hooked… a very unique drinking experience. I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much when I heard they were opening a traditional German bierkeller in the Bigg Market but I am delighted to say I was wrong… yes it occasionally happens.
It definitely has an authentic Bavarian atmosphere as you walk in to hear the lively oompah bands singing and encouraging you to stand on the traditional communal benches to toast with your steins held up high. PROST!!! They have a fab selection of European beers of varying strengths served in stein glasses and offer speciality stein cocktails (if you’re able to handle your drink!) As for food… you best like your sausages as it’s all about the tasty German Frankfurters! All the above served by staff wearing traditional Bavarian outfits.
I honestly couldn’t fault the place one bit. More of a dress down bar which is why it stands out amongst the Bigg Market bars and clubs but also a refreshing change. Finally I have found a place where being in my flat shoes was a bonus as I found myself stomping on the benches and swaying with people I have never met and may never see again! If you have any doubts like I did… please ignore them as this place made my night!
