Eastgate Hotel

Waaaaaaay overpriced for what you get. The rooms are shoeboxes, and the staff are somewhere between annoyed to see you and rather unhelpful. Clean is the best positive word I can think of to describe it. Breakfast in the restaurant is decent — as you’d expect I suppose. Use AirBnb over this closet.

Great location — central to the university and all the sights. The entry and reception area are much nicer than the actual rooms Lift only goes to the 2^nd floor, so if you’re on the 3^rd floor you’ll need to carry luggage up a flight.
My room was on the 3^rd floor which was the top, so the roof sloped over my bed, making me feel a bit claustrophobic. Although i was grateful that they upgraded me from a single to a double bed, the room was still quite tiny (my bathroom was probably equal or larger size). Tub was so narrow if i were a large person I wouldn’t have been able to use it.
The room felt quite dated. Sadly, the water kettle, tea and refrigerator were hidden in a cabinet and I didn’t discover them til the last day. I wish someone had told me they were there.
Breakfast (if you pay for B/​B) is downstairs in the restaurant. It’s nicely done but a bit on the pricey side.
