The service was good and the meat was OK. The salad bar is cheap and the wine list weak at best. It wasn’t horribly expensive but hardly worth the price

The food is good, the meats are seasoned very well. The food bar does taste better than it looks, make sure you try the tiny cheese rolls, they are delicious. The wait staff was great in seating us and taking our drink orders, but they never came back. They were much too busy to take our dessert order or give us our check, we must have waited for at least 30 mins or so.

Were I to base this review purely on the over-stuffing myself with delicious meat, I probably would have rated it higher. The choices were plentiful, the purveyors frequent, and the quality better than expected. The random foods at the hot bar were also better than expected, given most looked like they hadn’t been touched in hours.
The downfall of Desejo is the service. We were met quickly by a waiter, two even, to ask if we wanted drinks… and then they pretty much disappeared. I think they stopped back by once to ask again, but it took a full 20 minutes to get offered our bill. Unfortunately, the staff seemed much more interested in replacing all the candles on the tables and resetting (from the 2 – 3 other tables that had been filled) than paying attention to the fact we were looking for our check.
All in all, decent food at a very affordable price (especially for London). Just be prepared to wait.
