Great place to stop off and grab a drink. Food is good and well priced. With great deals on including steak night, curry night and roast day being Sunday. With lots of deals on drinks it worth a second look. Monday is the cheap drink day. So make sure you catch a pint or one of their many great ales.

Very good food and nice daily specials, where you can save lots of money. We were on vacation in Torquay and went there often, the steaks were always good and cooked exactly how we ordered them. The burgers were also very good. Great desserts! It is always crowded in there which tells me that lots of people must be happy with the food/service, or otherwise it wouldn’t be full all the time! When we visit England again, we are sure to visit The Talk Of The Town again as well!

We were only in Paignton for 2 days, but we ate here 3 times! It just worked for us. It’s a large, spacious restaurant with a warm fireplace, a bar, and nice tables with comfortable antique chairs. You seat yourself, look over the menu, order at the bar and report your table number, and then they deliver the food to you when it’s ready. For the two dinners I had here, I got the exact same thing. It just sounded really good on a cold night: Homemade tomato & basil soup and lasagna. Both ranked high in my book for tasty, down-home cooking. The side salad with the lasagna lacked any pizazz, but I didn’t need it since I had the soup. My daughter sampled shrimp scampi, cheesy garlic bread, and onion rings and she liked all of her food as well. Our final morning, we stopped here on our walk to the train station. I had the English breakfast and my daughter had pancakes. If you want a casual place to enjoy basic food, this hits the spot. And the prices were so refreshing after 7 days in über-expensive London! Why would you be in Paignton? Well, in summer, it’s a happening beach town along the English Riviera. In winter, it’s a place this tourist visits because she knows one of the zookeepers at Paignton Zoo. Regardless, if in Paignton, The Talk of the Town warrants a visit.

Not great, but alright for price if you are on a budget. Cheapish if you have a family, meals are standard, alchol quite cheap, décor clean but dark and boring, coffee tastes awful but it is cheapish! Stick to a pint and have a coffee in a proper coffee bar.

this has changed mangers and staff so many times in the last few months and the food is not so good or tho they do sometimes have a good day! they dont alow you to have dogs out side any more, you can only stay so long if you have children and you also have to be eatting, staff are friendly, and the drink is good they do have some good real ales if you like them.

A central Wetherspoons, so unbearably busy later on. My cottage Brewery Lord Nelson steam ale was actually quite nice, although an extra fruity tang was added by the fruity lippy left on the glass by a previous imbiber! It actually didn’t taste too bad bizarrely, but better glass cleaning needed I would say. Less than a year old.

the place looks very run down, carvery expensive and not the best, but it has friendly staff. On our last visit, we queued to place our orderfelt like it took forever. I ordered carvery and hubby ordered the special burger. The turkey was very overcooked and at least half was gristle. Both our portions seemed ridiculously small to us. Dessert was better. Overall would never return there to eat.
