I’ve very mixed feelings about my visit to the Laughing Buddha. Overall I enjoyed the night, and the food was often excellent, but the service was appalling — to be honest this may be due to getting the one waitress who was about 30 years older than everyone else, who was rude, abrupt and unfriendly despite our group being a pleasant and polite selection of thirtysomethings. Most damningly, they ran out of several dishes during the night(we all had the all you can eat menu) — which included, unfortunately, the duck which we all had only a tiny amount of, but when we asked for another round were let down. Prawns and other bits and pieces were also sold out of(which on a Saturday night when the restaurant is presumably at it’s busiest seems to be very poor) and at first it took a long time for the food to arrive after we ordered it. I have given the review three stars due to the strength of the food, which was delicious, and we may have been very unlucky on the day we choose to eat there, but I certainly would be wary about going there, and personally won’t do so again.

This used to be our favourite place to eat. The all-you-can-eat angle was simply dangerous. But then the chefs changed, and it just wasn’t as good. Nothing I can put my finger on, just not as good, so we stopped going. But I went with a friend a few months back, being in downtown Redhill without any firm plans, so we ended up there. Happily, it had returned to its previous yumminess, and we went away content(and stuffed!). It has a very friendly, casual atmosphere. Not somewhere I’d go for a special occasion, but really good value and a relaxing time. Oh, and if you can’t find it – go to Argos, turn right, go through the glass doors and up the stairs. :)
