New Tong Fung

Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, the service was slow, with the dishes taking ages to come out of the kitchen, and we were often ignored for long periods of time. This would perhaps be understandable if it were busy, but there was only two other people present, so there really was no excuse. I could forgive this if the food had been up to standard, but unfortunately it wasn’t. The duck was dry and the portions were tiny (enough for one per person) and many of the starters were borderline unpleasant. My main course, sweet and sour chicken, was okay, but then I imagine it’s hard to mess that up, which is why I had ordered it rather than something more adventurous! The waitresses were friendly, but that’s the only positive thing I can say unfortunately, and I would not return to this restaurant, or recommend it to other people.

The food was disgusting — mushrooms that were raw and smelled off, and chicken that also had a bad smell about it. I paid nearly £28 for a meal for one that consisted of starter, chicken dish, vegetable dish, rice and 3 small glasses of house wine (no dessert). I gave up being polite and refused to finish eating the food for fear of the consequences — it had a dangerous smell about it, and tasted disgusting. I wouldn’t eat there again if you paid me.

Once after being left to sit for a half hour without as much as being brought our drink order, we walked out of this restaurant and vowed never to give them our business. Okay, so we’re weak. We found out that they delivered, and decided to give them a go. We were SO glad we did! Really, really nice food at decent prices, delivered so quickly we barely had time to gather the plates and utensils.
After being loyal take away customers for at least a year, my husband and his parents decided to give sitting in another chance. They reported none of the problems of our previous visit, so our bad visit really must have been a one-​off.
