This is quite a nice pub, tempted to give it four stars, would do so but all it sells is Youngs not very well kept. Certainly popular though.

As pubs go, this one is dark and British and probably serves sausages. Normal, really. Other than that, they have all of the standard Young ales and such, and serve their purpose. There is a back garden, but as usual it’s really just where the smokers sit. I won’t rush back.

The Old Ship actually isn’t that bad of a pub, I think it just suffers from being 1 minute walk away from some much better pubs! The Waterman’s is just round the corner, The White Cross a stone’s throw away, so we never came in here that much. One good plus point is that they show the football, and in the summer get the TV outside in the little courtyard, which is nice. Standard range of Young’s ale on tap, and passable food.

Not for me this one but everyone I have spoken to says it is o.k. Situated in the Heart of Richmond it came across as a soulless place frequented by the old and those with no friends. Bar staff were perfectly polite and everything I asked for I got. Food was fairly routine and I would rather not bother if the food isn’t up to scratch. Traditional /old in design and with garish signs outside advertising the fact that they had sky sports /setanta etc it has a ground floor pub as you would expect with another bar area upstairs. As with all these things, what appeals to some doesn’t appeal to others. If you are looking for a place to watch sport on T.V. in a traditional and basic venue then this one might do it for you. Personally, I would go to McDonalds if I was hungry and then find somewhere a little more 2008 to watch the sport. It will be interesting to see what others think and post.
