The Maui Hana Rainforest team returns to the United Kingdom and lands in Royal Tunbridge Wells for some awesome Thai Food.
This time we brought discerning Princess GIGI
To see if they can satisfy and cater to the tastebuds of young people too. Her verdict –

Authentic Thai food in stylish, chic environment with warm friendly service. The interior features recycled timbers and drift wood. The cooking is first rate with lots of seafood dishes. The lunch time tapas is excellent value.

We tried this place on a whim one Sunday evening, and spent the whole night congratulating ourselves on an excellent decision. Really interesting Thai food menu, not just the usual Thai curry and pad Thai — although we did order a serving of veggie pad Thai and it was excellent. Lots of great fresh flavours, the tamarind duck dish was a favourite, and the stuffed squid was also excellent. Just wish I’d not eaten too much to try out the rosé ice cream… but we will definitely be back so maybe next time. Service was great and they had a lovely Gewurtztraminer on the wine list, all in all hard to fault.

I went for lunch at the Giggling Squid in Tunbridge Wells and was pleasantly surprised by the unique Thai Tapas Set menu. Having read good things about the Sleeping Honey Duck, I choose ‘One Giggling Squid’. The Sleeping Honey Duck was delicious as were the Thai spring rolls, and chicken stir fried with ginger. The rice was hot and plentiful. All served on one platter tray. My companion chose ‘Two Giggling Squids’. Personally, I couldn’t taste much of the salt and pepper squid. The chicken massaman curry was delicious and the beef salad was one for the chilli lover (luckily we are). We shared a Tapas dish of Thai Dumplings which arrived with a nice dipping sauce. We shared a bottle of Terre Allegre Trebbiano Veneto, one of the cheaper wines at £13.75 a bottle which was adequate. The service was efficient and friendly. I shall go again at lunch time to try another Tapas set menu and may even order a take-​away.
