Absolutely amazing curry and faultless service! A group of 4 of us visited the Mughal last weekend and oh my did we love it. The menu has a great variety which catered to all of our tastes and a wide variety of drinks available from the bar, the staff were great, really friendly and attentive. The chicken tikka achari, I ordered, was absolutely divine, the chicken cooked to perfection and the peshwari nan that accompanied it was equally great! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who would be looking for a great curry, a good atmosphere and terrific ambience. Also we were amazed when we received the bill, considering we had drinks with every step of the meal it was amazing value for money, will definitely be back again!

We had a truly excellent curry night last night at the classy and welcoming New Mughal Palace balti house. Having just got back from almost a month in India, I have pretty high standards when it comes to a curry, but Mughal Palace rose to meet the challenge! The food was simply excellent, it is Bangladeshi cuisine with a very impressive and extensive menu. We got the onion Barji, saag paneer, house special chicken curry, birijani and peshawari naan. It was a banquet and all perfectly cooked and presented. The service was also impeccable, our waiter was charismatic and suggested dishes when I asked what he would recommend. There was complimentary liqueurs and fruit after we had finished, and a hot towel to wipe off our hands. They even opened the door for us and shook our hand on the way out. The décor was a bit funny with some blue neon lighting on the walls and the music was a combo of Hindi Bollywood classics mixed with r and b. It was still charming however. 4.5 stars: the only thing I’d say is that it did take a long time for the food to arrive after ordering, I think about 45 minutes. It was well worth it when it did though! I’d recommend going perhaps a little earlier than the time you want to eat… Highly recommended, I very much look forward to going again!

This has been sold as a cracking curry house in Sale. So let’s be honest, my expectations may have been a bit higher than they should have. It’s nice enough but nothing to separate it from all the standard ones in Rusholme or elsewhere. A bit quieter maybe which is definitely a bonus when you’re not that leathered. The food is average I’d say. I’ve had worse and better. There is a clear distinction of flavour between the various dishes on the menu. However I am not sure if everything is cooked that fresh. The pakoras batter was proper soggy. Maybe they’re not geared to cope with a Saturday night affluence. My shish kebab starter was contrastingly quite nice. Our mains were all rather average. Meat drowned in sauce… nothing crazy there. On top of that, while waiters were courteous enough, our food took forever to come. So it does OK as a take-away, probably better than other Sale outlets, but I wouldn’t go back for the restaurant experience.

So… the takeaway food has been really good. 5 star good. The restaurant experience? Not so great. This is the most drastic review change I’ve done to date. Nine of us were booked in for a Saturday night curry at 8pm and they were ready for us, or so we thought. We ordered drinks, poppadoms, chutney trays, starters and mains as normal — a few of us decided to forego the starter for just a main course. Had we known that we’d all be waiting nearly an hour to be served the starters we’d have demanded piles of extra poppadoms for free. Having to ask twice where our food was was unacceptable to say the least. The waiter couldn’t have been less bothered. I struggled to figure out whether it was a case of them having too few staff being over-worked, or too many staff doing sweet F.A. Needless to say, the majority of the group who had starters were disappointed with the end result. They were saved from a Eek! 1 star review because the main courses, especially the naan breads, were, on the whole, pretty good and decently sized. I had really high hopes that the restaurant would live up to the takeaway — there can’t be many places where this sadly isn’t the case. For the time being I’ll stick with their takeaway menu.

I used to love this place, it was the preferred curry house for my scuba diving club nights out. That was a few years ago and we always ate in so maybe that explains why last night’s take away was a different story all together. I called ahead and ordered, they said 30 minutes so I duly arrived half an hour later to collect. The restaurant had only a few tables filled at 740 on a Saturday night — perhaps a warning sign? My meal was already waiting in a bag, great but when I got it home(to be fair a couple of minutes back to the flat as with any takeaway) it was stone cold. The onion bhajis has lost any crispness and were just soggy, the naan was unpleasant too. The small salad that came with the starter was very wilted and brown. I had chicken tikka masala main which would have been good if hotter in temperature. I should have put the oven on and maybe heated it up but is that really the point of a take away? Disappointing result. If they had told me 20 minutes on the phone maybe this would have been a better experience.
