If you’re familiar with my reviews, you’ll know that I use a great little app called doggiepubs to find pubs where I can take my dog, Finn. So far, it’s lead me to some great places, and today’s lunch time treat in Shrewsbury was no exception. «Ye Olde» Bucks Head Inn is a charming old pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and pleanty of room. During the week, the offer 2 meals for £8 from a selection, and many of there other main courses are around the very reasonably £7 mark. The food was freshly cooked and very tasty, and portion sizes were very generous. I had gammon, egg and pineapple, with chips and salad and it really was scrumptious. Prior to eating my dinner, I had my eye on the pudding board, with such traditional favourties as apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding and jam roly poly tempting my eye. However, I just about managed to eat my main course, so desert will have to wait for another visit! The biggest treat for me was the coffee though. I was cold and really fancied a hot drink. With the only options being tea or coffee, I had very low expectations to be honest, and so was delighted to be presented with a single cafetiere and, what’s more, a dark chocolate mint on the side. Very impressive. With great food, and also very affordable accommodations, Bucks Head Inn which is only a few minutes away from Shrewsbury Town Centre makes an ideal venue for a meal, or for an overnight stay so that you can explore the area. I certainly plan to return!
