Green Motion Heathrow

Difficult to find, long lines to pick up car (more than 1 hr), must pick up car on time (cannot pick up early), and pretty terrible service.
We booked our car for 1.30pm. Arrived at 11.30am, waited in line for 1 hr, got told that we cannot pick up car yet and that we would not need to line up again when we came back, came back at 1.20pm and went straight to the reception … And 16 mins later still waiting to be served.
I disagree with Darin below. Most of my reviews are above 3 stars and this is my first 1 star review. I have seen at least more than 2 – 3 other unhappy customers in the time I’ve sat here. Don’t fall for the cheap rental unless you are willing to put up the poor service.
Oh and there is only free shuttle to LHR for the driver. 4.5 pounds for each passenger.

Horrible experience with Green Motion Heathrow which is actually located a costly and inconvenient bus ride from the airport. I was fraudulently charged damages for a minor scrape (approximately 1cm) that was likely on the car before I collected it. The inspector — who checked me in and out — was quick to have me sign the documents without doing an inspection but conveniently enough walked straight to a particular wheel at check out and wrote me up right away — without looking at the rest of the car! End result is greater than $ 200 charges for something that a) I did not do and b) is beyond immaterial by all definitions. Completely hustled by these dishonest criminals. I will dispute all charges.
Side note — there were several other disgruntled renters while I was there. You’ve been warned…

If I could give them negative stars I would. I’m sure other renters have to be starting to get lawsuits together after the incredibly horrible experience we had. I’ll be brief and only list the 3 main issues but there were many more: 1) in Expedia they go by the name Ace which causes issues when you are running around the airport asking people where Ace car rental is. 2) they claim to have a shuttle from the airport. they do not – in fact you have to pay 5 pounds each way per person AND Green Motion/​Ace will claim they will reimburse you but then give you the runaround when you get there and ultimately NOT reimburse you. 3) they will actually charge you for any smudge, fingernail scratch, or shadow they see on the car AND they will charge you FOUR TIMES for the amount quoted. It’s not like Enterprise where anything under the size of a quarter is fine. Green Motion/​Ace will charge you for anything that they claim to see even if they missed it the first time.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. We did and now wished we paid $ 3 more a day for a well-​known company.
There were many little things that we don’t care about as renters, but many people do so I want to mention them including customer service (they were very rude and cold), the car wasn’t ready when we got there, we had to empty prior customers trash out, etc.

. The first 10 days rental was fine. The second time, a week later, they cancelled my booking because I was an hour and a half late. Exasperated, I rented at 2/​3rds as much again. I was given a bigger car than I wanted. I drove it up and down the M25 for 2 days and parked it in a friend’s large driveway, took it back on the third day. They said there were scuff marks and a chip in the paint (from a pebble on the motorway). They are trying to charge me now 300 Pounds for repairs where no repairs are necessary. I have also witnessed that they seem to target women travelling alone — saying the vehicle has damage where it clearly does not. These people are the biggest rip-​off merchants I have ever come across in 30 yrs. of renting cars in the UK. I intend to write to the Holiday Inn’s head office — they should know about the crooks they have operating on their grounds — its despicable.

My husband and I rented one of their cars for nearly a month and our car was not checked over properly from the onset of us receiving the car. Had we of known what a big deal this would have all become we would have been more critical of our findings on the car from the beginning. Upon receiving the car the inspector checked it over and wrote a few things down. After driving the car for 10 minutes we noticed a chip in the window screen. We checked our paperwork and didn’t notice anything about it so we figured this was something they knew about and we need not to worry. We thought it would be fixed on a later date as there was also a lot of damage on the front and rear left wheels which were marked on our paper work. Obviously the previous driver had caused this.
Upon returning the car we were told there was a problem and were told to come see it. On the rear right wheel there was a mark less than centimeter long. We were told that this would cost $ 150 pounds due to the damages on the car. We asked to speak to a manger, we saw the assistant manager, she agreed this was an unreasonable amount of money but it was policy. We then asked to speak to the main manager, who was very reluctant to come out of his office, who also stated this is policy and that his inspector was very thorough and 100% confident that this was not there before. We find this incredibly hard to believe considering the inspector obviously missed big things such as the window shield.
Furthermore, we did not appreciate the staffs attitude towards this whole situation. We too work in customer service and would never have treated someone this way. It was rude and unhelpful.
If we were told at the beginning of hire that they would be charging up such a high amount for minimal marks on the vehicle we would have obviously gone over it with a fine comb.
Needless to say we will never hire a car from them again!

In 30 years of renting cars– this is the worst company ever, bunch of con men trying to rip people off. Unlike Hertz/​Alamo/​Budget/​Avis/​National/​EuroCar, they have no shuttle to get from Heathrow to Holiday Inn (where they are) even though they claim a Heathrow location. Bus is 4 pound each way and for a group of four that is 32 GB pounds – out go any savings you think you got.
We rented at night and did not see some scuff marks on two rims – upon return they do an extreme check on the car and in the day light they found scuff marks that were not noted down upon renting and as a result Green Motion hit us for 300 pounds!!!
Do yourself a favor and rent from a reputable company instead of con men like Green Moition.
