Being a bit of a curry connoisseur I have tried all the Indian restaurants in St Albans and this is quite simply the best. The sauce is absolutely delicious, the meat always lean and tender and it’s very reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a nice clean feel to it, staff are warm and friendly. The menu has all the old favourites like vindaloo(my personal favourite) and some really lovely speciality dishes. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is as it is relatively unknown compared to the likes of Chilli Raj and Mumtaj, but to my mind it beats them all hands down. Café Masala is a must-try for all curry fans!

Good curry house which does mild to spicy food. Their onion barges are probably the best I’ve had in St Albans and the cost of food is very reasonable. My favourite thing about this place is the portions are reasonable and the service is quick. Even for a takeaway you’re only looking at waiting 20 minutes or so from order to delivery — which of course is free over £10. They also have the usual selection of beers such Cobra and Kingfisher.
