A great pub and one that was frequented by the late great Dylan Thomas. The pub has a bar dedicated to the great man. The place is popular with students and anyone keen to hear local musicians playing a set or two.

I have refused to go to this place for the last four years after being treated so awfully by the staff there because I only wanted to order a coke on a Sunday afternoon. I was told that people who look like me only come in to get drunk and if Im not ordering a drink then myself and my husband should leave. This is a place that holds lots of music festivals, so for someone to be so judgemental of an alternative female was disgusting. Myself or my company refuse to set foot in the place again.

Very pleasant Pub in the Uplands area to have a drink, especially sitting outside in the large Beer Garden there, which is often full, with a mixed bunch of people gathered there, of all ages. The prices are VERY reasonable nowdays as well, especially when compared to the extortionate prices next door in «Noah’s Yard«which has recently opened, and is their only competion in the area at the moment. Quite difficult to park around the area though, if you are bringing a Car, but otherwise, a simple stroll acoss the road to get there by foot. Quick Update: This Pub has just had a major overhaul all round(August 2012) and is now MUCH brighter inside, and looks fantastic now, and many more tables have been added outside too, so its looking better now than it has for a LONG time, a really nice place to have a drink inside or outside nowdays.

A greta Swansea pub with a brilliant atmosphere! There’s plenty of outdoor seating, so ideal in the summer. Plus the inside is surprisingly spacious. They have plenty of live music, so enjoy if you’re in the area!

One of the nicest pubs in the area — certainly a nicer and more eclectic clientele than you get in the pubs down on Brynymor Road or over in deepest darkest Brynmill. Lesley and Howard keep the prices high enough to keep it largely free of dodgy elements and students. Fairly good choice of beers too. Good variety of music nights. Good beer garden.

This place always seems really busy when I go there with friends, we end up waiting ages for a drink then having to stand in a small space a bit like sardines. Its very popular with students and they nearly always have some live band on, sometimes quite unique too. It is a nice pub, it’s just a shame its always too busy to enjoy it for myself. It would be nice if it had a larger outdoor area too as this is always crammed as well.

Good selection of lagers and frequent live music. Very popular with students and locals and I’ve even seen people having to que on a saturday night. No food served which is a shame, but has allowed them to concentrate on running a really good pub.

The Uplands Tavern, commonly known as the Tav’ was a popular jaunt for me during my super cool teenage years. As with most pubs frequented by students in Swansea the drinks are cheap and served by young trendy surfy/skater types. The pub plays host to a variety of live music nights and the introduction of the smoking ban this year fuelled the addition of a covered outdoor area which used to be just picnic benches but is now quite a lovely decked fairy-lit alcove. The Tav’ also boasts a bit of history as it is reported to be one of the drinking dens of Wales’ most famous poet and alcoholic, Dylan Thomas. This fact is marked by the Dylan Thomas Snug within the pub.
