Blacks Leisure Group

Lots of people complain about Blacks — that it’s expensive, staff don’t know their stuff, that the range is limited, and that it caters to trendy people more than true outdoor goers.
Well with this Blacks they are wrong.
Staff are all friendly, have good advice to offer (based on their experiences), they have the stuff you are likely to need, and the price generally isn’t too bad.
I purchased a bag from there and the sales assistant’s advice actually steered me away from the more expensive ones which would have been overkill.
The staff are also very friendly. Ive been in there probably around 10 times, compared to the 100s i’ve been in PC World on the same retail park and staff at Blacks have recognised me and even remembered what i’ve purchased.
If you are concerned about prices — join the YHA — and you get a 10% discount from them. Even if you don’t use the YHA membership take solace in the fact you are supporting a great organisation.
It’s now one of my favourite shops.
