What The Green Ginger lacks in character it makes up for with its friendly staff. We bagged one of the booths by the large window overlooking Torquay’s main shopping street by the marina. Who doesn’t love a booth! Choosing coffee at brunch time was a no-brainer as it was cheap, cheerful and also refillable. Green Ginger is part of the Lloyds No 1 brand and those of you familiar will already know its part of Wetherspoons chain and know pretty much what to expect. Between us we ordered up a vegetarian breakfast, a full English breakfast, greek yoghurt and fresh fruit salad, and toasted bagel with rocket and smoked salmon. Our table of four all enjoyed their brunch. It set us up well and inexpensively for a day of sightseeing. Whats not to love!

This is a horrible modern building. And the breakfast stench in the morning is unbearable. In the evening it is a more pleasant place to be and the beer is alright. I found the tribute to Peter Cook on the wall interesting. Where does the name come from?

Great food. Cheap drinks. It’s the place to go for pre-drinks on a night out and is booming pretty quick.

your standard bar-like wetherspoons, cheapish, variety of ales and drinks. cheap food. a good atmosphere. often use it as a meeting place before a night out or just a casual drink with friends. on saturdays it can be rammed packed and a little bit chavvy.
