Always impressed with the Sunday dinners here and I am mega fussy about them. This is a proper pub that sells food not a gastro pub or any of that nonsense. the staff are always friendly and professional and the food is always good and nice portions.

I arrived to The Weir by boat on a Sunday. The Weir is a great big Victorian looking building, with wooden tables with umbrellas attached to keep you cool in the sun. It situated by the river, so you can get their by boat, they also have a path which walkers and cyclist come down. I did see car parking as well. I ordered a lovely Pims for £3:95 and I also ordered a Lamb Shank with veg for £11:95. The meal was a lovely hearty meal, the Lamb was tender with the veg being well cooked, that you could taste the nutrients in it. The staff were lovely, and attentive. Being that the pub is near the Thames, with its lovely surroundings its great to take pictures around the area. The Weir is family friendly and has real nice atmosphere to the place. I don’t know when I’ll be down these sides again, but I would surely make a stop off.

AWFUL, DIRTY, BADFOOD, RUDESTAFF, LANDLADY‘S 3LARGESMELLYDOGSWONDERINGAROUND, THELISTGOESON ! We were told the reputation of the weir is very bad now due to the very rude land lady, she has had many stand up rows with paying customers ! If you want a freindly welcoming clean pub by the river then not too far up stream is the wonderful Swan and the Anglers.

This is a very popular riverside pub. In the summer you would be hard pressed to find a seat outside and it has quite a lot of seats. The food is your normal reasonably quality pub grub. Definitely worth a visit, especially in the summer.

The Weir pub has a couple of good qualities, and a few things that let it down. So, good stuff first; — Location. This pub is sat next to the Thames. Its pub garden looks onto the weir(hence the name) of Walton On Thames. The garden itself is made up of about 30 wooden tables, so come the summer months, you can get your food, or your pint — I will take a large glass of Sauvignon — and sit and gaze out at the river; the boats going past, people ambling past with their families or their dogs, or even their fishing poles — it is a glorious place to be on a hot day. However, when it is not a hot summers day, this pub reverts to being quite a bog standard affair. It is perfectly decent, nothing wrong with it, but the food is typical pub fare, nothing to write home about(it is just that everything tastes better when eaten outdoors, in the sun, don’t you think?) Also, this pub has the problem that it is near precisely nothing. It is down a long road which has nothing else on it, so you have to drive here. That means no more than two drinks and then it is back to the apple juice. If you were to come here for lunch on a warm day, you can walk or cycle or even sail up by coming along the towpath, but that does not sound very enticing on a winters day really. I would save a visit here until it is nice weather, and then bag an outdoor table as fast as you can!

The Weir was visited on a warm summer’s day and it is in such conditions that this place really come into its own. The pub backs right on to the canal and with sun shining and the noise of the weir in your ear it is a very relaxing environment. Food was ordered and drink was drunk and despite the quantity of alcohol being consumed there was little natter as the calm surroundings left us drifting away and time flying past. The food was standard pub fayre a little above the average and it was reasonably priced, meat and chips mainly. The Weir is a little out of the way for most Londoners but should be investigated should family visitors need entertaining in the Hampton Court area. The place is buzzing with day trippers, boat people moored up alongside the pub and locals. The staff were available on mass and all efficient and friendly, despite the endless food orders going through from confused and stressed out mums there was no queueing and service was swift. There was a wide variety of choice of ale and lager even if it was fairly standard names on offer. The Weir is heartily recommended should you be in the area or out on a drive, there is also a hotel and in such a delightful setting could be a wonderful stopover. Should there not be good weather the delightful old country-style interior would be very snug should the clouds converge and the rain fall.
