I like the ambience. Not crowded at all in winter. Some couples come for coffee. I ordered crab cake. Tiny portion. The crab cake is ok, but the side vegetable tasted so weird.

After arriving in Windermere near noon time, my family became famished and started flipping through brochures that our lodge hosts provided its tenants, looking through their list of restaurant recommendations. My dad instantly zeroed in on Lazy Daisy’s description: «Great food for cheap prices.» So, we set out on our walk to find Lazy Daisy’s. Upon arriving, we noticed that Lazy Daisy’s looked cute and homey( ), and entered without hesitation. However, after being seated, we had to wait several minutes before our waitress came by with the menu and several more before she came over to ask us for our order. She seemed a little scattered and distracted as she was taking my order because when I asked for their Filled Yorkshire Pudding, she paused for a second and said suddenly, «Chicken??» Confused, I looked up at her and noticed that she wasn’t even looking at our table but was instead staring at the couple at the table next to ours. Then, when I asked her what type of pies and desserts they offered that day, she answered with«Yeah,» which does not even answer my question. After what seemed like the most difficult food ordering process ever, we finally had time to settle down and eat our meal in peace. Filled Yorkshire Pudding(with Cumberland sausage, mash, vegetables & gravy)( ) — I’ve had Yorkshire pudding before, but never have I had it filled with other things, so I requested that our family try this dish. My mom was pleasantly surprised and said she enjoyed the mash inside the pudding very much. My dad liked the taste of the pudding and said it reminded him of a Taiwanese fried donut. I thought the overall taste of this dish was okay, but the ginormous portions made it worth the money! Steak and Guinness Pie(pie of the day)( ) — I was expecting a whole pie, but it was only a medium slice. However, it came with vegetables and chips(we opted for these sides rather than mash), which ended up becoming a huge portion as well. This dish was my favorite, as I loved the sauce in the pie and decided to mop it up with our chips(steak fries). The vegetables were just peas, carrots, and cabbage, but they added a nice balance to the heavy pie. Beer-battered Fish Goujons( ) — Apparently, fish goujons are basically fish fingers, but Lazy Daisy’s sure made them taste very good! The fish was fresh and flaky and the outer layer was nice and crisp. This dish was also served with chips, which we could not finish in the end. I think this was my sister’s favorite dish. Sticky Toffee Pudding( ) — I noticed this dessert on the Today’s Desserts chalkboard near the entrance and wanted to try it. My family had long ago become wary of the word«pudding» because it seems to mean so many different things in the UK. However, this pudding turned out to be a bread pudding – bread soaked in toffee, which was served with fresh raspberries and raspberry ice cream. Although I did like the toffee taste, this dessert was TOOSWEET. All of our teeth felt like they were going to get cavities right on the spot! Thankfully, the ice cream balanced out the sweetness, and my sister and I were able to finish the pudding. Overall, I would have given Lazy Daisy’s a 3 for its lackluster service, but I gave it an extra star for its HUGE portions. TL;DR: Ginormous portions for reasonable prices, but service is quite scattered.

This is a great little café in the day with delicious food and loveley décor, the cakes are out of this world and I’m told that in the evening there is more of a bistro feel.

Admittedly I have only been here for a cake and a coffee, but it was so lovely I had to add it. It was so cute and cosy and therefore very relaxed, perfect for a stop off. We had lovely coffee and a gorgeous lemon and blueberry cake(although there were too many lovely ones to choose from!). I would highly recommend on your way back from a walk or on the way!
