One of my favorites in Windsor! The menu is always delightful and changing. Current favorites include the pork belly appetizer, of course their steak and sticky toffee pudding.

Quality meat, good service, clean & tidy, what’s not to like? Be there again Friday.

Was treated to an amazing dinner here as part of my birthday celebrations, while we were in Windsor visiting Legoland(more on that later…) I was welcomed with a big happy birthday from the manager soon as I walked in, given a glass of sparkly stuff and taken to a cosy table by the fireplace — nice start! Menu was great too — so much choice, and all traditional dishes with their own personal touch too. I ended up plumping for the streak tartare(best I’ve ever had, with an aftertaste I never wanted to end) and then the trio of veal, nice and rare and full of flavour. The food was perfect, but the service really set it apart. Our server was very chatty, relaxed, and made us feel right at home. He even chased after us once we’d left to tell us about the changeover of the guard at the castle the following morning. If you’re in Windsor, get yourself there!

Not sure if this place is under new management, or what. Our group had a great experience. I’m missed it the first night. Our Texan team member said it was the best steak he had, in London. He talked about it all week. Two of our Russian team members wanted to return, so I went with them. We were greeted, warmly, and they were recognized. We were given a choice of tables. Service was great, and the food was better. We will definitely return.

I have been here many times before and would always give it 5 stars as the food was always superb. The service was never that impressive but I didn’t mind because the food made up for that. I visited a few nights ago with a group of people for a birthday party. I had been looking forward to it all week. I was so disappointed. The service was awful. We all ordered steaks and 3 out of 4 were not cooked as requested. We sent one back as it was supposed to be medium rare and it was well done. The waitress didn’t really care but said they would cook another one. The replacement was completely blue inside i can only imagine the chef was trying to be sarcastic! I showed this to the manager and asked if he thought that was medium rare. He didn’t apologise at all and said that he’d ask the chef to cook it a little bit more. By the time my steak actually reached me(still undercooked) my side dishes were cold and everyone else had long since finished!!! The most disappointing aspect was the attitude of the staff rather than the trouble with the food. If this were the visit I would never ever go back. We used to recommend this restaurant to all of our friends and family!

Although not all bad, this restaurant doesn’t deliver in a way you would expect it to, considering the atmosphere, the name and the pricing. Service was fine, they gave us a table although we hadn’t booked in advance(but we were there very early), and they were attentive, even though we were seated behind a pillar. Most of the food was adequate and tasty, but didn’t thrill us. The mash only tasted of butter and was so bad we had to complain, which made the staff take it off the final bill.

What a joke! Shocking customer service when trying to make a reservation put me off this restaurant before having set foot through the door. As for the Larder it must be contravening every food and hygiene regulation imaginable… food uncovered and not refridgerated… filthy display shelves… I could go on…

Anthony Worral Thompson has fashioned this upmarket restaurant out of what was ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’. The local story is that this was one of Windsor’s oldest pub names, and although much of the character was retained, the name was not, and there is no more popping in for a leisurely pint. Instead, we spent £40 a head on a 3-course meal. The service was polite, relaxed and not too pushy. The dishes were simple, traditional and well presented pigs heart, camembert, fish pie, lamb chop, panacotta and cheese. Highly recommended for an upmarket night out.

The Windsor Grill is part of the Antony Worrall Thompson chain and is relatively new to Windsor. The food was very tasty, but quite expensive. Service is also disappointing. The restaurant lacks atmosphere and doesn’t seem that popular
