Pizza Express

Pizza Express is pretty good quality for a chain restaurant. They have some great thin crust pizzas. If you have an Orange phone they do a 2 for 1 Wednesday offer where you can go to the movies 2 for 1 and also get 2 for 1 pizza at Pizza Express. Good cheap date night. I didn’t try anything other than the pizza and those weird little bread balls they give you free with the 2 for 1 deal so can’t really say much about the rest of the menu.

We visited this Pizza Express for a quick lunch this week. First impressions on entering were good, as we were greeted well and saw the eating area extended into an airy modern part beyond the oven area bottleneck. All looked great.
But once seated, we noticed what a filthy mess it was. Scraped-​up furniture. Unmopped floors. We passed one daubed table thick with stains. Cobwebs across the walls too. And we were first in, so that was how they’d opened for custom!
They dealt very well with a problem where their card machines were down that lunchtime, and the waitress was efficient and friendly.
The food. My cheese and garlic bread was lovely. But I’m afraid my pasta dish was terrible. Just a bowl of budget slop heated to untouchable volcanic levels. I would imagine a £1 ready meal from a budget supermarket would have been an improvement.
And this was a £9.40 dish! They are holding themselves against Strada and Zizzi’s fayre at that price and those competitors’ dishes are always fresh and well presented.
No. Sat in their unclean restaurant, even brandishing vouchers, I regretted giving this Pizza Express branch a try. Not a chance we’d be further disappointed by their desserts.
Great waitress. All else enough to make one never return.

Nice restaurant with good atmosphere. The menu has a reasonable choice (bearing in mind its a pizza restaurant).
The staff are attentive and helpful, and even when busy the service is reasonably quick.
The food is of good quality and delivered as soon as its ready (so no cold pizza). The deserts were very nice (as expected from any pizza express).
Howeverbecause it is good and a small town it is also popular. Therefore they do have table bookings so if you don’t have a booking it is just chance as to whether there is a table plus you usually end up at the entrance rather than the more comfortable back area.
Would definately recommend.

this place is my favorite in this little town. I walked from the nearby Hilton to town and have dinner that night. Along the way around 5 pm, most of the places did not open for dinner until 6 pm, I guess. Since I walked for an hour, I just wanted to sit down and enjoy my food.
For appetizer, i started with Bruschetta con Funghi … £4.30
Portobello and closed cup mushrooms baked with cream,
béchamel sauce, red onions, parsley and a dash of
balsamic vinegar
For the entrée — i ordered Theo’s Favorita * … £9.85
With santos tomatoes marinated with fresh oregano
and garlic, once baked this pizza is scattered with
hand-​torn fior di latte mozzarella,
Well,
I ordered desserts and just sat there to totally enjoy the semi-​sweet yet creamy Semi Freddo Reale which is a creamy nougat gelato dessert while sipping a latte. I was alone but thoroughly enjoyed my Me-​Time.
for the curious, nope, I did not finished my entrée which I could finish half and brought back to the hotel for later snacks. I had to save my tummy for dessert!!! How can Pizza Hut compete with Pizza Express???

Lovely restaurant seating area. Staff are very helpful. Great to take children there. Lots of choice on the menu.

I’ve eaten here a number of times — nice atmosphere, good service, good pizzas, salads & puds! price OK but get the wrong table & you will either need a torch or feel you are on stage!

Good size restaurant, good food, good service and very reasonably priced. Everything you would expect from pizza express and they are good for fitting in big groups as we generally go here for birthdays and we have never had any problems
