Saw POD, Hoobastank, and Alien Ant Farm here. Definitely a school gym feel. About the same acoustics too. No ventilation whatsoever. Hot and sticky inside. We had to go outside between bands just to breathe. Men’s toilet is way too small for the number of people this place holds, and the women’s toilet is located somewhere in the basement. The bar is highly disorganized and crammed with people. Not in a good area. Only come if there’s a band you really want to see.

After seeing several gigs at the Wulfrun the experience doesn’t get any better. Truly dreadfull sound system and an incompetent sound engineer. Way too much time messing about between bands, and a dire selection of music being played in the background. It seems no matter how good the band is, most of the time as soon as the main act plays, they crank the amps more than the speakers can take and the sound end up being sludge. It’s NOT a matter of volume. I like loud music, but i DO like to hear the instruments and vocals clearly. Here every nuiance from solo’s, to lyrics are melded into a single cacophonous drone.

Seen quite a lot of great gigs at the Wulfrun: Stiff Little Fingers, Damned, Republica, Macc Lads, Sham 69. They end early, too, which gives the out of towners time to get the last bus or train home. Some Birmingham live venues could take note.

Used to like Blast Off when I was at school, now I’m not as keen… think it’s the school hall feel that puts me off. The music in Blast Off is sort of indie, quite britpop-y, some newer stuff. I seem to always remember them playing a lot of The Killers… To get in it’s £5, which seems maybe a bit pricey for Wolverhampton, but as it’s the biggest night on a Saturday it’s not too bad. Drinks are ok, failry standard selection, not too expensive.

a bit of Cheeky Monkeys, a bunch of ladz, and some beer make for a good, solid nite on the tiles. it may be half populated by the elder spectrum of society but at least you dont get kids lookin for trouble, just a mature but fun evening out. drinks prices are nothing to shout about but the service is fast and friendly and thats wht you want from a good club. not recommended if your a pompous fashionista as you may not appreciate the more down-to-earth clientele you find here!

Easily my favourite gig venue in the West Midlands. No matter what band you go and see you are guaranteed a great night and a great atmosphere at the Wulfrun. Just awesome!

This has to be my favourite venue by far. You have a great chance of being near the front but there is always space to the sides — near the bars and toilets. There is one main road that goes around the hall and is useful for people being picked up and dropped off. (also) people sell unofficial merchandise outside which can help you save on the insider prices!

I’ve been to this place a couple of times to see a band and it has been fantastic. The venue is pretty wide, so you have a great chance of getting up to the front. There’s also loads of places where you can stand back and enjoy the band from a slightly cooler perspective.

Fab venue with much more character than a lot of places I’ve been to gigs recently… ok that may mean in need of a makeover, but still, small, cosy place with some great gigs. Some new up and coming bandsworth checking out!

A great place for a nice night out, if you want to see music bands, and feel part of the great atmosphere then this is the place to be, it offers seats, clean toilets, fast service and most importantly of all it’s security always seems to be on the ball. Most of the people who visit here seem to simply want a good fun night out, with many returning week after week and getting to know each other very well, with no amnesty what so ever, and in all fairness that’s what most people get. The drinks are priced very well and the staff always friendly.

Ok Venue, still a bit outdated could do with a refurbishment! Best thing about this venue is the height of the stage, being quite a small person it makes it easier to see the artist on the stage when there’s huge people in front of you.

Awesome venue for watching bands, especially those aren‘t are massive. Bands usualy play here before they break so its quite a nice venue to watch play while you can

Went here the other week for the first time to see Amy McDonald. Why on earth haven’t I been here before! Its a very good little venue, with a good atmosphere with a couple of bars at the back of hall. There’s a flight of steps at the front of the venue, so i’m not sure what the disability access would be like(although in this day and age, you’d hope they had a side entrance somewhere).

Need a reason to come to Wolverhampton? Look no further! Wulfrun Hall is probably the best music venue in the Midlands. Next door to it’s larger cousin, the Civic Hall, but the Wulfrun is way better. Quite small, but big enough to get a massive atmosphere. It also has a pretty large, and quite high, stage, so unless there’s a 6’7″ giant infront of you, you’ll miss nothing. All the cool bands play here. I came for Primal Scream.
