Such a pretty train station, it’s small but it’s really clean and the bricks hold some sort of significance. The shops here are nice and there’s quite a bit of options for restaurants. It’s one of the few train stations where you can definitely feel safe. If you have to wait awhile for your train, definitely make a stop at one of the restaurants, definitely worth it!

This is a great smaller trainstation. It is like a pocket Zurich HBB. Has a good variety of retail outlets: flowers, grocery store, specialty café, sandwich spot, apotheke, Sprungli, McDonalds, bookstore, Asian restaurant, and more. A very nice perk to living in the area, especially on Sundays when everything else is closed but all of the retailers here are open!

This is a really pretty train station, I think of cultural significance, as Wikipedia says it is inscribed in the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National Significance. No idea what that means though… perhaps it has something to do with all the stones in the walls? Anyway, this station is small, but pretty. Only two tracks – one going down the lake, and the other going towards HB. And they even had their xmas decorations up for a while. There are a couple little restaurants and shops, my favorite being Migros, because it is open on Sundays – quite a rarity for Switzerland, and perfect for emergency food runs. There is also a Heisse Marroni(Heissi Marroni in Schwiizertütsch) stand there in the winter, and I’ve been walking by it for weeks, until I finally gave into my craving this past Monday. A 100g bag cost CHF3.80 and came in a double bag – one to hold the roasted chestnuts, and one to hold the empty shells. Ingenious! Unfortunately, some of the chestnuts were a bit too burned and didn’t taste so sweet, but oh well.

der bahnhof enge ist der zweite grosse bahnhof in der stadt. neben dem hauptbahnhof. im gegensatz zu diesem aber kein kopfbahnhof, sondern ein durchfahrtsbahnhof. oder wie man das auch immer nennen mag. der bahnhof enge jedenfalls ist ein beeindruckendes gebäude. er wirkt zwar auf eine ganz bestimmte art und weise verlassen und einsam, so als hätte man ihn vergessen neben dem hauptbahnhof. dabei aber ist der bahnhof enge eigentlich ein wunderschöner bahnhof, also zumindest von aussen. die passarelle ist nicht gerade ein parade beispiel an freundlicher ausstrahlung und es ist ganz und gar nicht heimelig. es ist eher ein bisschen gefährlich, aber das macht das ganze ja auch irgendwie spannend und verleit dem bahnhof eine ganz eigene atmosphäre. ich mag ihn jedenfalls und freue mich, wenn ich hier vorbei komme.
