Forneria Sao Sebastiao

Algumas ruas de Ipanema vem se destacando por oferecer restaurantes que associam a qualidade culinária com ambiente agradável, bom serviço e na hora do almoço, um menu executivo com preços mais amigáveis. Um deles é a Forneria Sao Sebastiāo. Com ambiente aberto e decoração sofisticada, é um convite a aproveitar os prazeres da gastronomia e tudo que a vida tem de bom. Fui com minha filha, carioca que vive fora do Brasil, e adora explorar, como eu, as charmosas ruas do bairro. O menu executivo tem um preço de 60 reais para entrada e prato principal e mais 10 reais se adicionar a sobremesa. Pedimos de entrada o carpaccio de manzo (carne) e o de peixe do menu executivo — ambos deliciosos no gosto e na apresentação (eu acredito na teoria de que começamos a comer com os olhos!!). De prato principal optei pelo gnocchi de zucca (nao resisto a um bom inhoque, e nāo me arrependi). feito de abóbora, com molho pomodoro e camarões. Pagamos 174 reais incluindo os drinks e o serviço, nada mal considerando os 4 cifrões esperados neste lugar.

Very nice place! I’ve been coming for years and the food continues to get better. Definitely my favorite place for Italian in Rio.

Restaurante agradabilíssimo! Ambiente bem social e com partes ao ar livre. Tem no menu sanduíches e refeições deliciosos com preços salgados, mas justos. Nas bebidas há uma variedade grande, só que a minha preferida fica sendo a caipirinha de caju. Recomendo e adoro esse lugar!

I will start with the good (because that’s gonna be the short part): The space is VERY charming and the food is beautifully prepared.
That’s it for the good parts because it goes downhill in a hurry from there. The food is incredibly overpriced and either surprisingly bland or disgustingly over-​salted.
I know chefs here have a heavy hand with the salt, but this was a new low for me here. The olive tapenade on the carpaccio was so salty it was simply inedible. And the carpaccio itself was shockingly bland.
The asparagus and endive salad with buffalo ricotta was an embarrassment. It cost R$ 49 and literally came with 1 asparagus spear sliced in half and 2 pieces of endive. I will say there was ample ricotta, but of course that was rather salty as well. And the lettuce was plain as well… the type that you’d find on a burger. It was an insulting dish.
Maybe the cooked food would be better, but we didn’t want to wait to find out. After these dishes we cancelled the rest of our review, paid our R$ 130 bill for just apps and water and went elsewhere.
