Vanna Classic Nails and Spa

This is what my daughter’s nail looks like after a visit to Vanna’s to remove false nails! Unprofessional. She now has ripped, bleeding and very painful nail!!! See photo.

I had broken a nail and needed a quick fix before it drove me nuts, since I go to Ryerson I Unilocaled to see what was nearby and this little shop popped up! The store wasn’t very big and the décor was a little bit dated, nonetheless don’t let that stir you away! The service is great, I let her know I was in a bit of a rush and the lady who did my nails was super fast yet it still looked amazing! Although it was my first time there, many of the clients that were already there were clearly loyal clients since everyone is so friendly and full of laughs and conversation. Overall great atmosphere and ended up with nails just the way I wanted them!

The lady did my nails really well! And I could understand her, which is a huge plus. Would recommend, but it’s busy so prepare to wait.

Being new to the area, I tried this place for a manicure. The girl who did my nails seemed to be very inexperienced, and while she took her time it just was not a great job. That in itself wouldn’t stop me from trying them again, but the attitude from some staff would. I was sitting right beside the reception desk when a lady came in to ask when they opened the next day as she wanted to make an appointment. The answer she got was, well we open at ten but we are usually pretty late. The lady asked what time she should come at again, and the receptionist said, oh maybe around 11? In my view this is no way to run a business and this along with the manicure not being great is why I won’t be back.

I have recently become a repeat customer for this nail salon. At first I was skeptical because it just seems to be a small room, not too cozy or professional but I tried it anyways. The attendants are all Asian and they spend most of your visit speaking in their language to one another, but the service is great.
I visited yesterday for a pedicure as well as getting the UV gel nails.
As for the pedicure, my nails were done wonderfully. The lady took her time cleaning up my toe nails and shaping them. When it came to the foot scrub, she used this razor-​like tool to scrape off any dry skin on my feet. It didn’t hurt a bit and it definitely works, compared to most places that take a hard sponge and just scratch the bottom of your foot. If you’ve ever gotten a pedicure, you know what I am talking about. Also, before painting the nails, she gave each foot and part of my leg a good long 5-​minute massage each. It was long enough to enjoy compared to previous places I have been to that just moisturize the foot and move on. And to top it off, the polish job was very well done.
I am very pleased with how my gel nails turned out. I asked for the white tip and for the nails to be as thin as possible because I have had previous jobs where the gel dries so thick you can tell its not real from far away. But they were done very well this time, I am very pleased. And with the white tips, they are all the perfect size for my finger, they’re not too big or too small. I should also mention my pedicure and gel nails were being done simultaneously by two attendants, so I was in and out of there in less than an hour.
I don’t know the names of each attendant yet, but there is one lady there with longer, curly hair. I think she is the boss of the place. She is the attendant I mostly recommend, she is very good at what she does. I plan to go back to her when I need my nails redone.
On top of the great service, the prices are good as well. For both the gel nails and pedicure it only cost me $ 55. And the lady is so nice, I didn’t have extra cash to tip her, but she told me not to worry about it and the service charge was enough. This hasn’t been the first time I saw them waive off a tip from a customer. I will be sure to have extra money to tip next time.
I do recommend this salon. Again, it seems like a hole in the wall, but the service was very good.
