Recently visited the Payless at Metrotown close to Superstore, the manager Ms M there was not helpful. I requested for a size 8, she said there wasn’t any but I was quiet adamant and did a search of the boxes stacked on the racks, but what did I find a size 8. I approached the girl at the counter and she helped me. I paid and left. Not sure if managers are suppose to help customers or throw their weight around, very arrogant lady. Three stars because I got help from the girl at the counter.

High pressure type sales in a franchise store? The lady at this location follows you around, telling you that shoes sell out, that she recommends these wonderful sock things and on and on. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Back off lady. I’m a woman. I love shoes. I’m gonna buy some. And no, I don’t wanna give you my email address.

Payless ShoeSource definitely lives up to its name. I love the huge selection of shoes and a pair of shoes runs $ 40 or under which is an attractive price for many. I picked up some nice basic shoes here for everyday! For dressier shoes I prefer elsewhere though. The sales lady was super friendly and she constantly came to check up on me. I like how the sizes are readily there on the shelf so you don’t have to wait to get a size.

The words«Pay Less» may not always be true, unless they are having a Sale! There is also a great loyalty program starting up. Get in on the details! It’s free to join! The first thing I noticed about this branch was its amazingly friendly staff. Everyone is helpful, sometimes too helpful. Is that even possible? They are well informed and very efficient. I can only say this for the staff on the ground floor, because I was on the second floor recently and the young girl upstairs was not as great. I was looking for a pair of shoes in brown and was told that there wasn’t any left. However, lo and behold, I found them myself. Thank goodness for my shoe frenzy perseverance! When the loyalty program kicks in with more coupons and savings, I might just visit this Payless a lot more often!

I come here when I am not picky about style and or what I need. I just need basics at a decent price. I needed some swimming flip flops and I got a pair here that doesn’t hurt my toe at dirt cheap prices. The customer service was neither here nor there but in the end it worked for the best. They have frequent sales, therefore, I like to visit every so often when I can.

Decent shoes at great prices. They always seem to have some kind of promotion going on. This place is also fairly close to my work, which may or may not be a good thing. My only complaint — while the staff is nice and friendly, and I know they’re doing their job, they can be quite a bit pushy. Always hanging around and trying to talk to me, offer compliments on the shoes, making suggestions — I know this sounds like I’m being too picky but I would rather be left alone until I ask for your help, especially when I come in with my sister and we’re trying to talk amongst ourselves.

What gets the high rating is the shoes! LOVE this Payless’s shoes and awesome prices. I can always find flats or casual shoes no problem.(I typically buy my heels at Aldo though). Also, when I was checking out the girl who was ringing me through was a nice lady. Chatty and friendly! What lost my vote though was the lady when we stepped in. Now, given we had shown up late — they were close to closing. But honestly, it was going to be a quick grab and buy. I assured them I won’t be long, and even apologized to them. The lady who saw us initially walk into the store gave my friend and I a really nasty look. And an «ugh» attitude. I totally understand that you are closing… but you work at a shoe store, on Granville street. and it’s Friday night. Sorry but, not quite sure what she was expecting? I’m sure it’s a pain in the bum to shuffle people out of the store when you are trying to close. But to give me an attitude when clearly I’ve assured you I won’t be very long and apologized… give up the attitude sweetheart, you’ll get through life much better. I’ll still come back though hehe. Sometimes I need a cheap pair of flats :)

Payless used to be crappy, but over the last few years they have become a great place to buy inexpensive yet fashionable shoes. Last winter I bought a pair of army boots there for $ 50 and they have only recently started falling apart after a whole year of hardcore wear and tear. This year I bought another pair of very sexy and impractical yet comfy boots for $ 60. The sales staff were very helpful and friendly, and they don’t appear to hate their job like most people in retail. They are having a big end of season sale right now and I have to force myself to stay away because I can’t afford to go in there and spend hundreds of dollars on pretty shoes and boots.

Payless is no longer a place to find uncomfortable, unattractive and cheap shoes but a place to find affordable, trendy styles from über-designers such as Lela Rose and Patricia Field. Just in the last couple of years have I seen Payless come around to make a major effort in the shoes they stocked, don’t’ get me wrong, they still have a decent amount of those uncomfortable shoes I was talking about, but thankfully, just less of them. I am a particular fan of the Airwalk line, especially their boots! Affordable, stylish shoes from trusted brands: it’s a shoe lovers dream!
