When this Miami girl lived in Barcelona, I was lucky enough to live only a couple of blocks away from this local gem. There is a great mix of people-locals, latinos, tourists-a little melting pot. Antilla is a great place to go and dance, its nothing fancy so I wouldn´t recommend getting too dressed up to come here. Its a fun place to spend your night if you want to sit and listen to latin rhythms or get your groove on.

I ended up at Antilla a couple times for some salsa dancing and had different experiences each time. Barcelona is not much of a salsa dancing city unfortunately. Despite the commonality of the language, salsa dancing has not really caught on in Barcelona like one would expect. There are a few places in BCN that you can get your fix at and Antilla is one such place. Your experience will greatly depend on the crowd that given night. Regardless, don’t expect to see crowd build up at least until 11:30 if not later. The space is somewhat small and incredibly crowded during busy nights but fun nonetheless. I like the fact that there is variety in the music selection with a healthy dose of Cuban salsa.

I had an AWESOME time here at BCN Antilla. I went on a Saturday night for Salsa dancing. First of all, don’t show up before midnight. We got there around 11 and there was practically no one there. As soon as the clock struck midnight people started rolling in. The dancers were exceptional!!! They dance Cuban style for any Salsteros out there. I think the cover was 10 Euros for women and that includes a free drink. Awesome Awesome time. The music was great(same that we hear in the States as Salsa clubs) and the men could DANCE. It gets packed so if you are claustrophobic this may not be the place for you. On Saturday they have a DJ, but I think there’s live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The neighborhood looked a little sketchy, so we caught a cab home. I’d recommend catching a cab from the train station rather than footing it.
