The only reason we chose this sit down bars inside the market was because we saw sangrias for € 2,50! While the prices were beverages seem cheap… they make up for it with the price of the food items. After standing alongside the bar waiting for someone to finish their meal so we can snatched up their seats, we finally sat down and ordered ourselves some sangria and shared the catalonia sausage plate for € 8,50. The sangria wasn’t bad… wish it was a bigger glass though. The sausage plate took forever to prepare. It comes with grilled peppers, fries and bread drizzled with oil and vinegar. The food is just ok for me… you come to the market and dine here for the experience but I definitely wouldn’t spend much here. You can get a big empanada or potato cake next door for € 2,50 and feel more satisfied. The lady next to us had the salmon plate and she returned her fish back to the kitchen 2 or 3 times because it was raw in the middle. I mean, how hard is it to cook salmon all the way through? At least the server was nice enough to assist her without any attitudes.

After strolling through the La Boqueria Market I decided to sit down at this place b/c of all the enticing displayed seafood and it didn’t disappointed. The pan-fried whole sea bream fish was perfectly cooked and oh-so-fresh. The mushrooms were sautéed nicely and had a crunchy flavor. It was also a great place to people watched while you dine and seeing the locals made their run for fresh meat and produce!

One of my favorites spots in Barcelona. This tapas bar is at La Boqueria Market and has the fresher and most traditional Spanish food. Their tortillas of different kinds, the grilled fish,…and the coolest short beers(cañas) that Alberto, the owner, will be refilling for you with a joke followed by a smile. I can’t wait to be there next!

From entering at the main entrance of the market, it’s in the back towards the left. Friendly eatery with a focus on seafood dishes. They spoke English and had menus in French, English and Spanish. The staff were good at handling the queue even though there wasn’t a real queue as people just move up to the bar as others are eating. It was about a 15 – 20 min wait at 230 pm on a Saturday. It’s cramped eating at the bar but this whole market is cramped so it’s all relative. Ordered calamari(10 €) — ok not super flavourful or tender. Patatas bravas(5 €) were delicious!!! 3 grilled sardines(4 €) as he didn’t have a full order for us was very good. And the seabass(13 €) was simply cooked and came with fries. Very fresh fish. Cava was 2.75 € per glass — can’t get over how inexpensive cava is here! Staff were friendly and food came at a good pace. Overall good to average place.

We scoped out the entire market before choosing to eat here. This place is located in the back left corner of the market and could have been easily missed. At about 2 pm, we were one of the past tables before closing and many dishes were sold out. Still, we enjoyed the scallops, prawns and mixed vegetables. Prior to this meal, I was avoiding scallops like an ex boyfriend, but these scallops made me remember why I liked them in the first place. Simply grilled on a half shell and dressed with olive oil.

Unbelievable!!! I have always dreamed of making it to Lá Boqueria. I was in awe with the quality of the seafood and meats. I looked around and decided I would eat here. Prices are reasonable and the staff was very attentive. I ordered the mixed seafood plater and my fiancé ordered a steak. All plates were cooked perfectly and the flavors were well balanced and simple. You don’t have to mask quality with ingredients with sauces or spices. The fresh produce and meats speak for themselves. I was pleased to see the chef head over to a neighboring stall to procure a fresh cut steak for my fiancé. We had the best mimosas, sangria, papas bravas, pimientos de Padron, and seafood on our trip to Barcelona. We are pleased to find out that they have been in business since 1969 and will most likely be there on our trip back. Do yourself a favor and have a meal here. You won’t be disappointed. Bonus — our server acted as our personal guide to the best stalls in the market. They are intent on building relationships here.

The best meal we had in Barcelona and possibly the freshest seafood we had ever eaten anywhere. A busy back corner bar that displays there dishes on top of the counters of the bars and you order from the menu or by pointing to what you want. Everything was delicious especially the mixed seafood grill. We also tried the grilled vegetables and fried sardines. The barman was helpful and friendly and the entire bar of patrons was having a great time enjoying the amazing food. They even topped our beers off with more foam to enhance taste. We would definitely return to Barcelona and make Bar Clemens one of our first dining stops.

Disfruten.

We were at La Boqueria on La Rambla and starving so skipped the wait at the highly recommended El Quim( ) and found Bar Clemens in the back left corner of the market, if you’re entering from La Rambla. Tasty and cheap breakfast items and pretty decent coffee( ). You can see my pictures of the menu as well as skewers ready to grill in their cold case. In the Boqueria website they list their specialties as — Desayunos(breakfast) — Bocadillos frios y calientes(hot & cold sandwiches) — Aperitivos(snacks) — Tapas
