Bar Rubí

We were recently here two nights in a row. So friendly and the best mojitos I have ever had. Laya is a real keeper, great for any bar with a wonderful personality.

Bar situado en el Born que llama la atención del que pasa por delante debido a un cártel que anuncia mojitos a 3,50 €. Es todo un hallazgo encontrar un bar en pleno Born que ofrezca copas a buen precio. Si bien el reclamo es por los mojitos, el bar está especializado en gin tonics: tiene una gran variedad de ginebras caseras (no te las acabas: con pera, con miel, con algas, con flor de saúco, con anís, con café, con tomate y albahaca…).
Tanto la música como el servicio son correctos. Lo que me agobia del local es que es pequeño y estrecho. La barra y los taburetes ocupan buena parte del pasillo y eso dificulta la entrada y salida de clientes. Al final del local hay unas pocas mesas, que están muy solicitadas. He ido unas cuantas veces y nunca he conseguido sentarme. Lo recomiendo para tomar la primera copa y luego irse a otra parte.

Vueltas y más vueltas por las callejuelas del Born buscando un sitio donde tomar una copa. Y no porque no hubiera oferta disponible, sino porque somos así de indecisos. Al final entramos en el Rubí, quizá atraídos por ese color rojo tan «sesi», o quizá porque llegamos a nuestro límite de dar vueltas. Ah, no, ya me acuerdo, fue por ese cartel de la puerta que anunciaba mojitos a 3,50 €
Dentro, nos recibió un local pequeño, más largo que ancho, con una barra que ocupaba casi todo el pasillo y deja poco sitio para tomar algo en sus taburetes sin ser un estorbo para la gente que entra y sale.
Los camareros, normales, nada de simpatías extra, les dices lo que quieres, te lo ponen y pagas, fin de la interacción. Yo pedí un mojito de fresa por 5 €, y me costó bastante terminármelo. Vale que los mojitos no son mi debilidad, pero es que este estaba especialmente malo, de los peores que he probado. Y sin atisbo de sabor a fresa por ningún sitio, la verdad.
Desde luego, el Rubí no se ha ganado un lugar entre mis favoritos.

Rubi prides itself on its gin drinks! Americans will find themselves super impressed that there is a reason for the long spiral spoon… Your bartender will show you the usefulness of it!
Wish there were more selection of tapas/​munchies to nibble on, but still amazing!

Just incredible. Go to spot for drinks in Barcelona. What else is there to say that hasn’t been said before? Amazing drinks. Incredible prices. Really great bar staff. Fresh drinks and great vibes — do not let the price tag fool you. These € 3.5 mojitos would be $ 12 – 15 in the states. If you’re looking for drinks, stop reading this and just go as quickly as you can.

Great atmosphere, fun barkeeps, and a wide range of custom flavored gins. A little out of the way, but once we found it, we kept going back.,

The mojitos here are not bad, there’s a bit too much alcohol taste to my liking. Clientele seemed to be teens to mid thirties. There seems to be lots of gin choises though if that is your thing.

I didn’t want to use Unilocal!while in Europe because I figured it would be «touristy» of me to do so and we wanted to fully immerse in the Spainish culture instead. But some of the bars we went to earlier that day were either hit or miss and I wanted to end the night with a chill/​cool vibe. So Unilocal came to the rescue and did not disappoint!
It was exactly how I wanted to enjoy the night. The bartenders were helpful on letting us know which tapas to try. The Mojitos were strong and made fresh in front of you… something I haven’t had back in States! And at 3.50 a pop, you cannot beat that! They have over 50 gins from around the world but the house gin used for the Mojitos was just as great.
Definitely coming back if I find myself in Barcelona again!

The mojitos are the best I’ve had, along with capinrinhas, and some great flavored gin options for gin and tonics. The music is eclectic and always upbeat from funky stuff to fun oldies and reggae.
It’s definitely a mix of travelers primarily, filling up the small space from about eleven to close.
The bartender, Laya (sp?), really makes the experience special though.

We went early in the evening and the atmosphere was great. Just a few people but the woman bar tender was very friendly. The drinks were great too! I’m not a gin person, sadly, because they had many many different brands and homemade infused varieties. I had the mojito and it was awesome!

A cool eclectic little bar that makes € 3.50 mojitos that are really strong but with enough sugar to mask the taste of the alcohol. A couple of these and you’re sure to get a nice buzz going on. A bit cramped like many of the bars in the area.

Awesome little bar, tucked away in one of the alleyways in elBorn. Here they specialize in gin. Besides your standard options they also have at least a dozen of house-​made, infused gins. Gin& tonic is big in Barcelona and many places make it good. Rubí made the best gin&tonic cocktail I had by far. It was a lime-​infused gin with cardamom and it was delicious. I would recommend to any gin enthusiast to check this place out. Atmosphere inside is dark, intimate and perfect setting for a good night.

Nice, classy and hopping little bar in a great walking area. Good drinks, good prices. Nothing at all to complain about, check it out yourself!

Great little bar tucked away in the narrow back streets of the Born district. Mojito heaven! Well designed with attention to details, with a red theme (red light feeling). We went on a Sunday evening, and it was confortably half-​full. Easy conversation and nice vibe.
But the best is the Mojitos: Perfectly made, fresh and balanced. Recommended for an evening hangout with a date or a few friends.

This is one of the best bars I have ever been to, hands down. Walk in, and everything is doused in a reddish hue. You hear both Spanish and English being spoken-​tourists and locals alike frequent Rubí. It’s a small place, so finding seating may be hard, but a short wait is well worth it.
Next, let’s talk about the mojitos. 3 euros a pop on the first night we were there, and hands down the best mojitos I have ever had. They shake the cocktail with the mint leaves, and make it the right way-​this is something most bartenders in the US never seem to know to do. Appropriately strong and perfectly minty, these are the mojitos you will crave the next time you order one that isn’t up to par.
It’s a very chill place, with fun music playing, laid-​back conversations, and a fun crowd. Great, great ambience. You’re missing out if you don’t go-​the host of other 5-​star reviews here prove that I’m not the only one who loves this place!

Selbst gemachter Gin ist die Spezialität dieses kleinen Geheimtips. Freundlicher Service und ein guter Mix aus Gästen machen den Besuch zu einem gelungenen Erlebnis. Tip: Gin Tonic mit Erdbeere Minze Gin des Hauses. Auch die anderen Getränke sind gut und nicht zu teuer. Bier 2 €, Mohito 3,50 €

My favorite bar in Barcelona! It was recommended to me by a friend and filled with a mix of locals and foreign tourists. The bar tender (who is one of the owners) infuses his own gin with flavors like grapefruit, cucumber, lemongrass etc. We went twice in one week to get our fix. Its located down a very narrow/​quiet street in El Borne and is easy to miss! Once you enter, music is playing, everyone is chatting — great vibe.
So cute/hip/barca…go!

This was my boyfriend and I’s FAVORITE bar during our two trip in Barcelona. We happened to stumble upon it one night roaming around town and quickly got to know the owners behind the bar who were super down to earth, full of good recommendations and jokes! Hi Con and Matt!!! The drinks are inexpensive and generous! I discovered my new favorite drink of the moment, Hendrick’s gin and tonic, while there… They serve it with fresh sliced cucumber… Delicious! My boyfriend and I also ate there for dinner on several occasions and loved every plate. This place is terrific and in a great area! I give it a ¹⁰⁄₁₀ in all respects, including but not limited to– price, food, drink, music and company! GO!
