Second time that I went to this restaurant. The first i liked it a lot, because the food and the atmosphere(terrace with sea views). This second time the atmosphere was so good, but the food(4 people, each one with a different kind of rice) were so salty they were uneatable(the 4th !!!). Reading other opinions I can see that lastly it is a normal thing, salty food… 50 € p.p. too much…

This was the worst meal we had in Barcelona.(Which isn’t saying much because the rest of my dining experiences there were fabulous — but this place was BAD.) Our sangria was sad. It didn’t taste like wine or fruit or liquor — it tasted like concentrated lemonade from a tub mixed with cheap soda. We would have sent it back but our waiter disappeared. When the food arrived, we were further disappointed. The tomato bread was okay but there were only two, tiny pieces. The house paella was so salty it was inedible. It was bad! I also ordered grilled shrimp(a specialty for the day). They were undercooked and liquid inside. Service was terrible. We left hungry and disappointed after being ignored most of the night(with only a fizzy, gross sangria to keep us company). Our waiter showed up with a check at the end of the meal — with a bowl for my shrimp shells. Good timing, dude.

This restaurant is located on Port Olimpic portion of the beach. It is built to be a formal place with outdoor and indoor seating. Food was a little pricier than the other restaurants in the same area. The service and food made up for the higher rates. The wait staff was very helpful in recommending food and drink items. They were glad to speak in English. We had the prawn and rice paella for the first time in Spain and the dish didn’t disappoint. The rice and the clams including the cuttlefish were very delicious and spiced just right. The wine was a good compliment to the food. We will dine here again.

We decided to walk to the beach and had excellent Sangria here. We sat long enough to wait for dinner which was disappointing. The calamari was good, a dipping sauce would have helped, and we liked the potatoes. Our waitress said we’d need 2 plates of Paella but 1 would have been enough. The black rice Paella and the special paella were both too salty and the seafood was overlooked. Overall? I wouldn’t return for the food but the view and the Sangria were great

This restaurant came recommended by a local bartender and did not disappoint. The food was delicious and it’s located right on the beach. I’d definitely stop back and would recommend it as well.

An obscenely expensive place that we decided to go to so we could try Catalan-style Paella(arros negre) for dinner. It was good, though not 18 euros per person good. We also got ripped off by the waiter who charged us for the meal in US dollars despite not giving us a choice between being billed in euros or dollars(a requirement, considering that choosing ‘dollars’ involves a horrible exchange rate and a 3% commission, and often doesn’t even save you from your card company’s foreign transaction fee.) [1] He almost refused to refund the transaction and let me pay cash, until I said«well I can not sign the receipt, and dispute the transaction, and you’ll definitely get nothing at all. Or you can refund me and let me pay cash.» So in summary: pretty good food marred by almost everything else(price and service.) Shoulda just stuck to the 10 euro menus of the day. Sigh. [1]

My husband and I were frolicking on the beach. We wanted to eat lunch on the beach, but didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for the view. This place had an affordable and tasty sounding menu del dia. We decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed. The menu was something like 16 euros and had three courses. I started with a cold cucumber soup and my husband had a tuna salad. Both were delicious and refreshing ways to start the meal. I had rice with clams for my main course and my husband got grilled sea bass. My rice was rich and brown and served with a generous amount of clams, and the sea bass was fresh and well seasoned. I couldn’t resist the tiramisu and my husband got the chocolate custard. Both were very nice. We got wine with the menu del dia. Service was good, and prices were not so bad considering the awesome view.

Best meal I had in Spain, potentially in all of Europe! We were introduced to this restaurant by a local couple who really enjoy food. Thus I turned over the menu to them and gave them a carte blanche. They promised to show my fiancé and I some real Spanish paella, but my experience with paella in the states left me wholly unprepared for what was to come. First of all, I must say, the Spanish really know how to lunch! As traditionally the more important meal of the day, this is not the meal to grab a sandwich or a smoothie; lunch is even more of an event than brunch on the upper west side. The outdoor seating was booked until 4PM where local diners enjoyed a shaded cabana-like patio with an uninterrupted view of the Mediterranean. Hardly able to wait, we forfeited our reservation for an earlier seating in the cool and modern inside. We started with some refreshing drinks — beer and lemonade to be exact. Slightly sweet, cold, sparkling, and perfect after a stroll along Barcelona’s mediterranean beach. Then came the appetizers to share. Our hosts smartly ordered sauteed small clams, marinated white anchovies, and grilled red prawns from the sea. The prawns were the best I’ve ever had. No joke, no hyperbole. Ever. Medium sized, redder than any from the ocean, with the best head broth any head-sucker(technical term) could ask for. The shrimp’s flesh were flavorful(owing to the saltiness of the Mediterranean), fresh, aromatic, and incredibly tender. Next came the seafood paella and the fideuà. I’m not an expert in either dish, but I cannot imagine the broth being second to any. The seafood broth was cooked until it became a deep, nutty brown. The depth of flavor of the seafood broth reached umami as I’ve never experienced before — reaching the meatiness of the heartiest gravies. I almost suspected use of soy sauce in the broth. The waiter presented both the paella(rice) and the fideuà(cut noodles) in the traditional flat pan and was then split by the waiter and presented on a plate to each diner. The squid, prawns, and other shellfish were cooked perfectly into each starch, lending its tender textures and flavors to each meaty bite. The paella was perfectly al dente and the fideuà was slightly slippery with the oils of the broth. The meal was accompanied by a bottle of refreshing dry wine and finished with some intricately created desserts. My playful trifle had an inverted test tube of alcohol sticking out of the cream. To counter the starchy meal that each person quickly inhaled, we finished with some nice strong espresso. The bill came to around $ 32 euros per person and worth every(euro) cent. This was indeed a meal not to be missed on a trip to Barcelona. Please note that the paella and fideuà are priced per person and require a minimum of 2-person participation.

Great traditional Spanish food. Right on the Barcelona beach, which can’t be beat. I’ve been a couple of times and locals have indicated it is a top notch choice in the Port Olympic area of Barcelona.

Quiero oler a pescaíto frito, ¿Raro?
