Opium Barcelona

Personally love this club. Have been over 50+ times studying abroad in 2011. Miss it and can assure you will have a great time. Dress code is serious; collard shirt and dress shoes if you want to get in if you’re a guy (not guaranteed) helps if you buy a table. They do have top DJs perform, it is fun any night you go, drinks are expensive but hey that’s Europe and any club. Used to leave when the sun came out and the metro was back and running. Believe me you’ll have a blast regardless of where you are visiting from.

Hands down the best experience I’ve had in a night club. Sure, a few things went wrong that night (i.e. Someone dropping a lit cigarette and glass on my friends foot, the cabs refusing to pick us up at 05:30am, etc.) but apart from all of the that, my friends and I had the time of our lives at Opium!
No cover charge if you say a promoter’s name at the door. Drinks are reasonably priced and strong, the music was on point the whole night and the crowd’s vibe was insanely energetic.
If you go down to the main dance floor, where it’s super packed, you can dance your ass off while also being pushed around by people trying to get past you. If you have enough booze in you, you stop caring.
Overall, my friends and I had such a great time. It was definitely one for the books!

Honestly one of the best clubs I’ve ever been to in my life. I’m from NY and I’ll never get the same vibes that I got from this club. They played solid good music all night long and the drinks were pretty strong. Can get a bit crowded but that makes the experience even more memorable. The place is also very big– when you go inside the entrance you have to take the stairs to go down and you’re welcomed with a vast amount of space, with lounge chairs here and there and even an outdoor patio area. My favorite part was the dance floor in the middle of the club and you’re with all your friends having a good time. If you’re into the partying and nightlife, this place is a MUST-​DO in Barcelona.

Let’s get our electronic dance on! That’s basically the music we got on a Saturday night in Opium. I came here for a bachelorette party and I had signed everyone on the guestlist, free before 12:30am! I highly recommend signing up for a guestlist on their website and to get there early. There will be promoters outside the club so you can get passes there too but there may be a fee for it. Considering how things can be sketchy or even fake, I would try and bargain to just get it for free.
The club itself was pretty big, with a sizeable dance floor, multiple bars, tables and outdoor seating along Barceloneta beach. It looked cleaner than another club we went to, with more of a clubby, higher class NYC club vibe but this place sure can get crowded. Also the bathroom situation is just hectic so if you have a small bladder, you are pretty much screwed.
Overall, I was glad that we came and experienced Opium as it was one of the more popular clubs in Barcelona but I am not a fan of electronic music so my energy waned a bit. Also, because it was so crowded, it was hard to dance. I would recommend coming here and getting drinks but to also explore other clubs around the area.

I am by no means a club person but we were constantly being told about the crazy nightlife in Barcelona so I had to see for myself. There’s a small strip of clubs on the beach and Opium was probably my favorite.
Cover is 20 € but that includes a «tall drink» aka a mixed drink which I didn’t think was unreasonable. I thought prices overall were fair.
The place is massive and beautiful. Probably thousands of people. You can get lost in here. But a lot of fun, filled with people from all over. Tourists and locals alike. I’ve been told Europeans in general are more forward and that was definitely apparent here (not in a bad way).
Bartenders were serious, attentive, and always on their game! Obviously a good thing. Sassy but attractive bartender says to me «You’re in Barcelona, speak slowly» LOL fair enough.
Also, when the night is over (aka 6am) you can walk on the beach/​watch the sunrise. It’s a beautiful site.
But beware of the guys outside trying to sell you water, beer, snacks, etc. They are extremely pushy, annoying, and probably trying to pick pocket…
Overall, I recommend Opium and the area in general.

Wow. What a club. As packed as it was never experienced this in SF or NY. Beautiful women all around. The DJ played the same song a few times but it’s forgive able since the party went on until 6 am.
Drinks however are more expensive than the US. Also, make sure you watch out for the food people outside they are thieves forewarning.

This is the reason why I do not like clubbing! Because nothing can compare to Opium Mar in Barcelona!!! If they had clubs like this in Vegas, San Diego or San Francisco I’d be going out EVERY NIGHT!
Weird part is that my Dad was the one who told my sister and me about the nightlife in Barcelona. He said that he used to go clubbing with my aunt in Barcelona back in the 80s… What in the world?! ha ha

This isn’t a casual club, you will need to dress up! My sister got us on the VIP list when we visited Barcelona and let me tell you this place is on FIYYYAAA! Not sure about cover charge since we got in for free.
A lot of Spanish, Italians and French partying here! Music is amazing! They actually play top 40 from the U.S. ha ha
They have outdoor seating by the beach where you can enjoy drinks.
I also love how European guys are gentlemen, they’ll actually make conversation first and then ask you to dance instead of just shoving themselves behind you.

but if you’re looking for somewhere to dance the night away — and i mean literally… the music doesn’t stop until sunrise — this is definitely a spot worth checking out!

Cocktail un peu chère tout de même (d’où l’entrée gratuite je suppose) ! Pour ceux qui cherchent une boîte avec les sons hip hop rnb du moment c’est ici! Par contre faite attention au jour ou vous y allez. Il doit y avoir des themes par soirée.

Ambiance de folie, très bon DJ, regarder le flyer à l’avance car il y a plusieurs ambiance, je suis allée un mardi soir, donc musique hip hop/​Rnb, j’ai passée une très bonne soirée entre les danseuses et les robots, il y avait une très grosse ambiance pour un mardi soir.

Everyone’s heard of Barcelona’s hot night life. Before flying over for vacation, I did a lot of research on which clubs to visit. The two that were at the top of the list were Apolo and Razzmatazz. Those two sucked balls and consisted of terrible music, empty venues, and sprinkles of kids under 16.
Introduce Opium, one of the clubs right outside our hotel (Hotel Arts). THIS is the scene I was looking for! Great DJ performances, great ADULT crowd, awesome all around. Definitely recommend stopping by! The line to enter is long but moves fast.

setzen lassen und spart somit den Eintrittspreis von 20 €. Das Publikum ist gemischt im Alter von 25 – 35 Jahren. Als wir an die Bar kamen, wussten die Bardamen nicht was ein Whiskey Sour sein soll, somit bestellte ich mir 4cl puren Whiskey der einen stolzen Preis von 14 € hatte. Eine Getränkekarte war den Damen gerade nicht zur Hand gelegen.

Their security guard fondled my rear end upon entry after paying € 20 for 3 patrons to attends on a Tuesday evening. When the security guard was approached, he shoved my acquaintance into the concrete surrounded palm tree near the club. Do not waste your money on this rape culture centric establishment.

So, let me just start off by saying, Opium is a fun club to go and dance with other study abroad students. I’ve been in Barcelona for almost 2 months and I’ve had a lot of fun at many clubs here. Opium is one of the most popular clubs in Barcelona for tourists. Full of tourist, but no local Spanish culture at all. Opium WAS great… for my honeymoon period in Barcelona. I recently dyed my dreadlocks blond on the tips and it looks kind of like an ombré I would say. The bouncer literally said that he didn’t let me in because of my hair. I keep my hair neat and it does not look bad, so I’m gonna go ahead and say that this was racism and completely unacceptable. I definitely will not be going to opium anymore during my abroad experience. Just wanted to make this known, and I am not trying to discourage anyone from having a good time there.

Very hip. Very chic. Very pretty. VERY expensive. Regular hukka price is at € 170ish. Absolutely fantastic music!

Review of food and drinks only, not the nightlife! Came here after a nice afternoon on the beach. I had wanted to go clubbing in Barcelona during my trip but was with my mom so that didn’t really work out haha. She suggested going in and just getting food and drinks so we could at least experience sitting in a nice looking club!
There were nice cushioned seats to sit on a the staff was very friendly! All we ordered were 2 cocktails and nachos, pretty pricy. Each drink was € 14 and nachos were about € 13. So yeah not cheap but hey, it is Barcelona and it is a club! Gotta do it once, right? The drinks were pretty good. I got a sex on the beach and the filled the glass all the way to the top. The nachos were pretty good, average and actually vegetarian which was nice!

The grey haired manager bartender who is in charge was very disrespectful and really scarred my experience at Opium. I was waiting patiently for a drink and he completely made a vulgar remark and was overall not friendly, and incredibly rude… Not to mention it is WAY over priced certain hours and other times it isn’t at much. This place is over rated, if the manager out of everyone has awful customer service which says a lot! I recommend other clubs furshure!

Autant j’ai aimé Barcelone, autant j’ai détesté cet endroit! Et pourtant, en allant vers la plage, on s’attendait à trouver plein de chouettes bars sympas pour danser toute la nuit mais ici (et dans les alentours), nous n’avons trouvé que des boîtes ultra chères et «bling bling» qui vous attirent avec des entrées gratuites!
C’est le cas de l’Opium où nous avons décidé de nous installer en terrasse pour prendre un verre. De un, nous avons été placées entre 2 tables (très désagréable). De deux, la serveuse né voulait pas décoller de notre «table» après nous avoir donné la carte. Avec des prix aussi exorbitants, j’aime autant dire que j’ai besoin d’un temps de réflexion! Elle a fini par comprendre car elle a dégagé le plancher au bout de 5 longues minutes. Pour couronner le tout, après avoir passé commande pour un cocktail à 17 € et 2 bières à 8 €, nous avons attendu une éternité. A croire qu’ils devaient encore cultiver les fraises de mon cocktail… Du coup, on a fait les rebelles et on est parties sans payer… et sans boire!
Je déconseille donc vivement l’endroit! Peut-​être qu’en été on peut y faire des soirées de dingues avec Armin Van Buuren mais là, c’était pas le cas et les prix ont de quoi vous faire fuir (50 € la bouteille d’eau!).

Quite a fan of this place, great music, great atmosphere, lots of energy around! It’s neat that you can sign up for their guest list online, and they’ll let you in for free before 2AM.
When we came at around 1AM, the place was fairly empty. There’s a coat check service, right below the stairs of where you come in, it’s E2 per piece of coat (or purse, etc). The line does get longer as the night falls.
They don’t open up the big dance floor in the middle until around 2AM, and then the DJ moved from the side wing to the center.
If you want to catch some fresh air, just step outside, and enjoy the beach.
Lots of taxi right outside, very easy to access. Great experience.

J’y suis allée en boîte et la salle est vraiment magnifique ! Et pour ceux qui fume, il y a un patio avec des tables et des fauteuils, le cadre est vraiment sympa ! J’ai moins aimé le bar, il y en a plusieurs dans la boîte mais le personnel n’était pas très sympa et les conso un peu chères…
En bref, je recommande cet endroit dans lequel je retournerais très prochainement !

Opium is considered one of the hot night clubs to check out while in Barcelona so sure enough we found a way to end up there on a Friday night. We happened to be heading there at the right place at the right time (although I’m sure looking the part can’t hurt) where we were given tickets for free entrance prior to getting there– otherwise there is a cover apparently which I’m sure varies depending on the night.
It’s definitely worth seeing as it provides the typical night club experience with high speed euro electro beats (I say typical as I feel like you can probably find a place like this in any touristy city). The drinks were a little pricey in my opinion considering the selection was mediocre (expected, I know) and the crowd was well touristy (again, not that I should be the least bit surprised by this, I after all being a tourist myself amongst a sea of other tourists).
I did like that this was along a beach front and something which I found notably cool was they had a small little souvenir type shop called, «Shopium.» Not that that’s the purpose for visiting, just a hipster observation on my part that caught my eye.
Another perk is, being it’s on a strip featuring other notorious night clubs, it’s so easy to bar hop and experience a little of everything, which I do recommend doing. Variety is the spice of life, no?

This place is a natural tourist trap. Take 1 beach in a popular tourist city. Add 1 bar that looks cool and trendy and has music playing. Multiply typical drinks prices by 2. Multiply typical food prices by 3. Dress all the staff in white and you have the makings of what should be a complete rip-​off.
Except it isn’t really. The people who come here can afford to come here and there are plenty of other places around for those who can’t. And if you can afford to come here there aren’t many nicer places to spend a sunny afternoon watching the beach — certainly not without going pretty far out of town.
They also had a really tasty paella. It’s just a shame it cost so much as I probably could have got a better one nearby for half the price…

Soirée barcelonaise, j avais lu pas mal d avis sur cette boîte sur internet et je suis un peu déçue du résultat .
Lieu très beau avec possibilité d aller sur la plage a n importe quel moment. 15 euros l entrée avec une boisson incluse ou 350 euros la bouteille pour 4 (…) apparemment les tarifs sont aléatoires selon les soirées. Pas de sélection quelconque a l entrée .
Pas de bol pour nous le Dj n était pas super et l espace de danse assez réduit vu le nombre de personne. Il vaut mieux être VIP pour se sentir a l aise .
En bref: lieu super beau mais bien choisir le Dj !

No matter where you hail from, you’re bound to have a good good time at Opium. It’s a must-​go place when you’re visiting Barcelona! The music is fun, the crowd is a-​plenty, and the dance floor is wide. This club is a hot spot for sure. Step outside and you’ll find your feet in the sand with the beautiful ocean right in front of you. Yes, beachfront clubbing, people. I want to go back!
Pro-​tip: Pick up a voucher earlier in the day from promoters hanging around the club and then get in for free later! Girls can get their guy friends in with no charge by pretending they’re your date. Skipping the line is another perk :) Just make sure you get there early enough!

Love love love love opium!!! Get on the guestlist and get there by midnight. It’s a really fun and beautiful club. Definitely one of my favorites for sure. Came twice both on Saturdays and frank caro (res DJ) killed it both nights. Solid EDM danceable music. You can go outside too although its super smokey. Drinks are expensive at 12 – 14 euro but if ur a chick u should try to get into VIP. Or get bottle service, its worth it. I’ll leave it at that ;)

The only downside is the cab situation leaving the club. You seriously have to fight ppl to get cabs.

Tengo que decirlo soy Fan de Opium Mar, no hay en Barcelona a mi criterio mejor local como decoración, sonido, ambiente y gente que Opium.
Hay de todo un poco de Pijo, un poco de Guiri y algún Fashion también encuentras.
En invierno no voy mucho por el frío que hace en la zona con la brisa marina, pero en Verano es ideal.
Precio en línea de las discotecas del estilo, lugar privilegiado, nota 10!

Para los que recuerden cómo era el Eixample barcelonés hace algunos años, el Opium se encuentra en el antiguo cine Astoria: un recinto histórico que ha cambiado las bobinas de cine por sesiones de DJ de moda y un local con vocación de ser fashion. Y seguramente lo consigue porque siempre está lleno (muy a menudo con un alto porcentaje de turistas). Si os van los locales con espectáculos y performances, no es raro ver algunas actuaciones de gogós en el escenario que ocupa lo que era la pantalla de cine. La sala, con una decoración entre lo retro y lo moderno muy acertada, cuenta con varios reservados acortinados. Si no eres pájaro nocturno, puedes visitar el recinto también como restaurante: no es el colmo de la gastronomía pero tampoco es del todo desaconsejable. Aunque si lo que quieres es copas, música y algo de ligoteo, no te olvides los zapatos si no quieres tener problemas en la puerta.

Cuando he ido ha sido de noche que es cuando funciona como discoteca, la decoración es muy buena, muchos blancos, lámparas, tiene toques muy elegantes, tiene una parte de terraza que da al mar, tiene muebles muy grandes y cómodos para sentarse a hablar y tomar un cóctel o para descansar. Es uno de los lugares más famosos de Barcelona así que es normal que esté a petar, lleno de turistas o las dos cosas. Para no pagar la entrada, mejor apuntarse en las listas de la página web… Hay que vestirse bien para poder entrar. No es mi tipo de lugar, pero a los que les guste el rollo de bailar música electrónica y ligar, les puede ir bien.
Opium es recontra famoso por sus fiestas nocturnas con djs que duran hasta el amanecer, pero durante el día también funciona como restaurante.
