El Bitxo

Tapas atípicas como ellos mismos dicen, y buenísimas! Tomamos patatas bitxo con dos salsas muy buenas, una ensalada de pollo con curry que entraba perfecta y un salmón y bacalao marinados con salsa especial de wasaby que estaban increíbles! Sitio 100% recomendable por el buen trato, lo íntimo, tranquilo y agradable del sitio y los platos sorprendentes.

En la zona del Barri Gòtic de Barcelona siempre es una pequeña guerra encontrar un buen local. Mucho local con foto de comida, o con paella y sangría, o con el famoso «Typical Spanish».
Pero hoy que estábamos en el centro hemos mirado lo que recomendábais en el centro y tachán tachán! os hemos hecho caso y hemos/​habéis acertado.
Hemos puesto rumbo al local llamado El Bitxo, y digo local erróneamente porque cuando uno llega es poco más que una habitación así que lo de local ha muerto cuando he visto el panorama. Cuatro mesas, una barra diminuta y un juego de Tetris para poner todo lo necesario.
Ahora bien, detalles de decoración muy chulos con unas mesas cool y un ambiente muy acogedor a pesar de lo pequeño del lugar.
Aunque la mayor sorpresa es ver cómo un solo encargado se ocupa de preparar los platos, servir y atender a todo el mundo (que tampoco es mucho, pero molestamos). Y si la sorpresa es ver a un hombre solo ante su destino, mayor es el impacto cuando ves que además de traer todos los platos con un tiempo perfectamente comprensible y tolerable, el encargado es un encanto de persona. Muy atento y muy comprometido tanto con la comida como con el servicio, así que sólo por ese detalle vale la pena.
Y para ir acabando, lo prometo, la comida no dejan de ser tapas, pero no son las de toda la vida, espera, sí que lo son, pero no. A ver, puedes pedir algo que parecen bravas pero no lo son, unos boquerones pero no son como los de siempre, una ensaladita bien interesante aunque pueda parecer anodina y aburrida. Como ellos mismos dicen: Tapas Atípicas. Por nuestra experiencia: todas muy ricas.
Así que si circuláis por el Palau de la Música Catalana y no sabéis donde ir es porque no estáis leyendo esta reseña, lo que claramente pone de manifiesto que sois «uncool». En serio, una muy certera opción!

This is one of those few times you walk in as a tourist and Taste being a local. Go here. The food and the staff and the space is small. Cozy. And perfect. As a solo traveler it was more than perfect for dinner and to sit for a while.

Eine tolle kleine Tapasbar, die schön eingerichtet ist und beim Betreten nach Lilien duftet, die auf jedem Tisch standen. Wurden super bedient und waren total begeistert von Essen und Wein. Haben u.a. die Fischvariation probiert. Diese bestand aus geräuchertem Lachs, der mit Kaffee mariniert wurde, einer Thunfischpaste und Sardellen. Dazu gab es einen Wasabidip. Absolut zu empfehlen, auch wenn der Preis von 22 € echt hoch ist.

Für mich einer dieser umvergesslichen Überraschungen in Barcelona.
Ein wunderbares kleines Lokal mit kleinen Gerichten/​Tapas. Wir ließen uns eine Auswahl von geräuchertem und eingelegtem Fisch servieren. Mein Highlight war der Lachs mit Kaffee. Passte super zur servierten Wasabi Aioli. Danach mussten wir unbedingt noch ein bissle Fleisch haben und ließen uns Wurst/​Schinken bringen. Auch hier alles toll. Der Rotwein war ein Traum. Die Einrichtung war so detailverliebt. Frische Blumen aufm Tisch. Jazzmusik im Hintergrund. Zum Abschied gab es noch frische Kirschen. Jan (der Besitzer) hat mit seiner Leidenschaft ein kleines Schmuckstück geschaffen.
Hach, ich könnte weiter schwärmen.

Lo conocí hace tiempo, pero es tan pequeño que no había tenido suerte de volver. Esta vez, aprovechando la visita de unos amigos decidí llamar antes y reservar mesa para 4. Creo que más de 5 personas sería un problema así que mejor tenerlo en cuenta. Es un sitio ambientado muy bonito, y lo utilizan mucho quiénes están esperando para entrar al Palau de la Música (está a 2min). Es un lugar de tapas básicamente, pero elaboradas sin caer en lo exagerado.
Nosotros nos pedimos 3 bocadillos: de salmón, pollo y roast beef, un plato de quesos y embutidos, un par de ensaladas y una botella de vino. La chica fue muy amable al decirnos que nos estábamos excediendo a la hora de pedir.
Es un sitio que para invitar a alguien está muy bien porque quedarás como con muy buen gusto, eso si, reservando antes porque el espacio es pequeño :)

Tiny little place just a couple of steps from the Palau de la Musica yet somehow seemingly far away from the tourist bustle. Excellent food selections prepared on site by the friendly owner who is quick to engage in interesting conversations. Mostly cold tapas as they don’t really have a kitchen, per se, but still excellent and fresh tasting. The menu is written on various boards on the walls so don’t bother asking for one.

Delightful little place (7 tables) just down an alley from Palau de la Music Catalana. No kitchen but nice plates of fish and salads. No credit cards accepted so bring Euros.

I find the Tapas only to be a ok, marinated salmon and cod fish, biscuits out of the box, and a ordinary cheese platter. For the food only I give two stars, and ad one extra star for the atmosphere and hospitality, totally a 3 out of 5 experience…

This, after 5 days in the area, is one of two really good bars/​tapas places we’ve found. Great friendly service and non-​typical, yet delicious, tapas. Wonderful atmosphere!

Happened to come across this tiny Tapas place, down a small side alley near Music Palace and what a find it was!
Friendly service, great food and drink, nice music to sit and enjoy and very reasonably priced.
If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping by.

I went to this restaurant a few months ago while I was traveling in Barcelona. I was slightly let down by the cuisine of the area, but I cannot say that about El Bixto. I can’t even write a proper review because, looking back, it is difficult to recall words that can adequately describe the overwhelming sensations that accompanied my meal. Subtle and exquisite flavors and wonderful ambiance; the kind of meal that will make an emotional eater cry. The menu (sheets of paper everywhere that I didn’t understand) was pretty much impossible for me to decipher, but just ask for suggestions and it will surely be superb. El Bixto is one of my fondest memories of my numerous months spent in Europe. Good luck finding it, but persevere.

After wandering around for a bit looking for a place to eat, we ended up here. So glad we did. The space is small, funky, charming as hell, and a really good combination of old and new. The tapas were so good and «alternative» as advertised. We went with the waitress’s recommendation. She was awesome. Not your typical sweet, overly friendly waitress, but I kind of loved that. Great spot.

The lady here thinks her sh*t doesn’t stink. You sit me in the corner behind your menu and look at me as if I’m burdening you by asking what you recommend. The menu are little cards on top of a wall and they are all overlapping each other, so of coarse I’m going to ask you what they say since I can’t see them entirely. The food was not bad but everything must be pre-​cooked since everything that is hot was put into a microwave before serving. Very strange, unhelpful and unfriendly.

This place is Amazing! Went in on a whim and was blown away. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy and the owner was a gem. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends!

What an absolute gem!
So you walk past this unassuming place and could be forgiven for thinking it’s a small florist. It smells of flowers in here, because it is actually full of them. A nice bunch on every table!
The menu is written on bits of paper hanging from the wall, and the person who presumably owns the place given the attention he pays to his customers is super friendly.
And the food is divine. A real alternative to the usual tapas dishes in the area.
I think this may well be the best restaurant in Barcelona!
The only drawback is it’s tiny, but all that does is encourage you to talk to the people at the next table.

I was in Barcelona for only a week, and still had to go here twice. Fortunately it was right underneath the hotel I stayed at, so I had no trouble finding it the first time. The second time I simple realized I couldn’t comprehend going anywhere else on my last night there.
Tiny place, intimate atmosphere (and then some) and delicious tapas. Not sure anything else need be said.

Quant little restaurant with delicious food! The owner is very helpful with the menu and is super nice. It’s a tiny tapas bar, so its great for a cozy lunch or dinner.

During my two weeks in Spain this was #1. The owner is super nice and talked with us for over an hour. If you want to break away from the mandatory Spanish dishes and go with something original this is the place for you. It is an intimate venue with a dynamic venue. I am all for original experiences but this is a repeat. We also got recommendations for the rest of the trip at dessert.

Salimos de l’Antic Teatre y topamos con este pequeño y encantador restaurante llamado «El Bitxo». No lo pensamos dos veces y entramos a ocupar una de las pocas mesas de las que dispone el local. Para elegir lo que tomarás debes mirar las inscripciones de las hojas enganchadas en la pared, y paciencia porque hay un montón y están desordenadas! Para picar pedimos unas olivas y en serio, de las mejores que he probado nunca, ¡qué buenas! nos gustaron tanto que al acabarlas volvimos a pedir otras. Para comer pedimos una ración de foie con tostadas (riquísimo), unos pinchos de chistorra que no estaban mal (he probado mejores), patatas estilo «el bitxo» (patatas asadas con piel y dos salsas, una de ellas increíblemente picante), tortilla de patatas gratinada (podía estar mejor, me recordó a la típica tortilla congelada, aunque con el queso y calentita no estaba mal), y una ración de brie con tostadas. En resumen, si vuelvo a ir, me pediré las olivas y el foie y probaré alguna cosa nueva. Lo que más me gustó fue el local: es realmente acogedor y me encantó su decoración e iluminación. El trato también fue bueno y el precio correcto (sin vino ni postres salió a 15 euros por persona).

Me encanta El Bitxo.
One of my favorite places when I’m want a cozy, chill yet sophisticated atmosphere. El Bitxo offers warm lighting, nice wine, a few tapas (traditional and creative) and always has a fresh beautiful oversized flower arrangement. It’s the first spot that I take people to when they come to visit me in Barcelona. I like sitting at the bar, where they have fans for hot days or in the corner so I can see everything — beware the bench seat sometimes pinches. The menu is handwritten in front of the bar. I always enjoy talking to the people that work there too — it’s that warm and familiar.
It’s especially wonderful because at night you can enjoy the beautifully lit Palau de la Musica, a 5 second stroll away.

Wenn in diesr kleinen Tapasbar gegenüber des Palau de la Musica Catalanya 20 Gäste Platz genommen haben, platzt der Laden bereits aus allen Nähten. Trotz der Nähe zur Musikhalle ist diese Bar vergleichsweise intim, was zum Einen an der Wirtin und zum Anderen an der Musik. Ein lauschiges Plätzchen mit leckeren Bocadillas, Salaten und Iberico Schinken. Dazu guter Wein. Was braucht man mehr für einen kleinen Happen zwischendurch?
Aufgrund der Lage etwas teurer, aber wie ich finde für das gesamte Paket angemessen. Wir kommen jedenfalls seit Jahren immer wieder hier her.

Aunque hay los típicos chorizos y jamones que le encantan a los guiris, hay que ir más allá y probar las rarezas del menú (o las puedes encontrar en los papeles que están colgados por todo el lugar. La decoración es genial, el ambiente es agradable y si estás en la barra puedes hacerte con uno de los abanicos disponibles para aplacar «la caló» o simplemente comer con un poco de estilo.
Otra cosa importante no es que las cañas son cervezas alemanas que están muy bien… sino que vienen acompañadas por unas olivas increíbles!!!

Pequeño pero acogedor restaurante de tapas. Hay que decir que no son tapas al uso, sino más bien maridajes ligeramente innovadores y con una presentación que no encontramos en los típicos establecimientos que uno imagina bajo esa etiqueta.
Aunque puedan haber algunas sospechas de esnobismo, la calidad de la propuesta quita cualquier eventual prejuicio que pudiera llevar uno y se pasa una velada la mar de agradable.
Ojo, sin embargo, con el vino que, pagado copa a copa, nos puede ocasionar un pequeño disgusto en el momento de enfrentarse al a factura final si nos animamos a probar varias variedades (tienen una notable bodega, más por adecuada que por extensa).

El nombre de este mini restaurante de tapas le va como anillo al dedo. El Bitxo; pequeñito pero picante. Conserva el alma de la bodega que fue en las barricas del altillo y en las enormes puertas de madera abiertas de par en par que dan la bienvenida.
Para mi El Bitxo va asociado al número 4. Os daré cuatro razones. Primera, está a cuatro pasos del Palau de la Música (ergo, se llena de clientela melómana si hay concierto). Segunda, tiene sólo cuatro mesitas (ergo, el ambiente es relajado). Tercera, en la carta, cuatro ensaladas, cuatro tipos de surtidos y cuatro platos creativos (gratamente sorprendentes). Y cuarta, mi valoración: entre el uno y el cinco, le doy un cuatro… Casi perfecto.

Sitios de tapas hay muchos, pero lugares en que se trate de innovar y realmente se consiga no tantos. Aquí te sirven algunas tapas tradicionales como el infaltable jamón de Jabugo. Pero la principal característica son las rarezas como la tapa de salmón marinado con café y salsa de wasabi y gengibre. O el bacalao marinado en té Earl Grey.
Tampoco viene mal acompañar las tostadas con el paté de olivas negras. Y de postre helado de café. Una rara delicia.
