El Gato Negro

This place has a nice atmosphere! It was very crowded and is a long, thin space, but that added to the excitement of our first night out in Barcelona. Since we came with our hostel, they had arranged free shots for us. Drinks weren’t expensive anyway (compared to Ireland and the UK). The bartenders served flaming shots and performed camera-​friendly fire tricks that involved flames dancing around the ceiling. Most of all, I liked the décor! As the owner of several black cats, it was nice to see so many of them in photo/​graphic form gracing the walls.

Can’t really give it much of a review as the place wasn’t open at 10:30pm and Unilocal shows it open at 7pm…

I revisited the place after a couple of years, the bar has lost a lot of its allure. There is some uninviting lights now, people with hoodies, unfriendly barcrew. It has become hard to find the great vibe of Barcelona in this place.

Un menu qui propose plus de 600 shots avec des barmans hyper sympas et qui préparent les shots sous vos yeux, attention, c’est un spectacle ! Et à 2 € le shot, on né se prive pas, bien que l’addition grimpe très vite !

So no one gets confused, this is actually one of the 3 locations of the infamous Espit Chupitos” bar in Barcelona. The full name is: Espit Chupitos — El Gato Negro.
Now that that’s out of the way — when you come, do whatever you can to order from Leonardo. Simply put this guy’s the real deal. It’s entirely worth it to come just for the experience of letting this guy do his thing, because he really knows how to put on a show. His knowledge of their «chupitos» is out of this world, and he can make almost all of the shots on their extensive list from memory. Plus, if you just tell him what type of shot you’re looking for (sweet/​sour, hot/​cold, gin/​vodka, etc.), he can find the shot that’s right for you and there’s a good chance you’ll love what he makes.
Now for the bar itself, it’s nothing special really. It’s a small dive bar that gets packed pretty quickly (especially on weekends), but at least it draws a lot of foreigners, such as American tourists and students studying abroad from other countries in Europe, so you won’t be the only person speaking English.
Shots for 2 euro each isn’t a terrible deal, especially considering the ridiculously overpriced nature of Barcelona nightlife. If you’re in Barcelona, I highly recommend going to one of the Espit «Chupitos» locations at least once — it’s almost like a right of passage. Not only is it an experience you’re not likely to soon forget, but I assure you that you’ll come away from here with some great memories and lots of laughs at the very least.

Puff. he ido creo que unas 100 veces. En verano, en invierno, en primavera, en otoño, siempreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Nunca recordé muy bien cómo volver hasta que un día pasé de día y me ubiqué. Je! Es un sitio que se llena de gente para dejarse llevar por el arte de los chupitos. En la barra está Un tal Edwin, made in Ecuador, simpático. Sí. Resulta que íbamos más seguido por temas que aquí no puedo revelar pero que si te pones a pensar seguro que te imaginarás. Tengo una amiga que se enamora de los camareros asi que ya verás. Así es la vida de divertida. Ahí los clásicos eran: el pezón de Silviaaaaaaa y tu polla en mi boca. Yo morí de risa con el primero, bue, con el segundo ooooobvio que tambiééééééén pero decía noooooooo!!! noooooooooo!!! Silvia se llama mi madre! JA! En fin cosas que pasan. Un bar que me trae recuerdos de los más lindos. El chico de la puerta es grandotote pero buenito al fin, muchas veces me quedé charlando con él. Es más una noche no sé cómo terminamos con los camareros y él incluido bailotenado en una disco. Qué nochessssss por diooooooooos de locas y divertidas. WELOVEBARCELONA. Voilà!

Intentar entonarse antes de salir de fiesta por el centro de Barcelona puede degenerar en dos opciones: que lo consigas gastándote mucho más dinero del que tenías pensado, o que no lo consigas.
El Gato Negro no es que sea tampoco muy barato, pero tanto el tamaño de las copas como el ambiente juvenil de la sala, junto con la casi infinita variedad de cócteles y jarras, son los que atraen a muchos jóvenes de la zona. Abre todas las noches del año excepto los domingos, pero los días indicados para ir son de jueves a sábado, aunque la sala esté llena y haya que esperar un rato para poder conseguir un sitio donde sentarse.
