Harlem Jazz Club

J’y ai passé une excellente soirée !
Pour le coup, la programmation jazz est réellement de qualité, et je né m’y attendais pas du tout pour un concert de bar.
Les boissons sont au même tarif qu’ailleurs.
En revanche, la salle n’est pas très grande, une vingtaine de sièges et vous serez debout la plupart du temps, sans avoir quoi que ce soit sur lequel vous adossez. C’est sûrement la partie la plus gênante !
Idem, pas de place où poser son verre !
Bref, cela ressemble plus à une petite salle de concert, ce qui explique sûrement aussi la qualité des prestations.
L’entrée est raisonnable (8 €), et cela ferme tard (2h).
En tout cas, si je suis amenée à revenir à Barcelone, il est certain que je regarderai leur programmation du moment pour aller y passer une chouette soirée !

Great ambiance and affordable prices. Metro and bus accessible.

Wer auf Live-​Musik steht, der ist hier genau richtig! Wir waren hier an einem Donnerstagabend und es spielten «JV & 2MOONS –blues, reggae, acoustic rock».
Ein Trio, das es richtig in sich hatte: ein wahnsinnig guter Gitarrist/​Sänger, Bassist und Schlagzeuger, die es alle drei wirklich drauf hatten und ihr Instrument wahnsinnig gut beherrschten. Jedenfalls war es für uns als Zuhörer echt ein Fest.
Ansonsten ist der Laden mittelgroß, Getränke holt man sich zu echt angenehmen Preisen an der Bar, die Barkeeperin war nett und die Toiletten auch sauber, was man ja nicht von jeder Bar gewohnt ist. :)
Fazit: Wer auf Live-​Musik steht, sollte sich diesen Laden echt nicht entgehen lassen — wir hatten ein super Konzert mit grandioser Band!

Heard some of the worst live music I’ve ever heard here. We paid 7 euros to get in and left after two songs because the lead singer literally could not hit a single note. The venue itself is meh. If you want good jazz/​good atmosphere, go to the real Harlem.

Awesome shows, nice space, great mixed crowd of people who are mostly local but quite international and diverse in ages. Only con? 3.90 for a small draft beer.

Cool little place, great music, cheap admission & drinks (NOT expensive).

Calor insoportable (no tienen aire acondicionado o no les funciona). Actuaciones en vivo ok con el precio de entrada comprensible (5 euros). Bebida demasiado cara, no vale la pena pedir nada que no sea agua y con esto hay que pensarlo. Pero es un clásico y tiene su público, 3 estrellas justas porque me gustó la actuación.

I went on a Wednesday and the experience was good overall; I think it was jam session night. I’d say about a third of the people there got up and played on stage at some point during the night, but everyone who played was fun to watch and had a pretty good level.
The music:
I’d say a lot of it had the sound of the Saturday Night Live band cerca that time Clinton played saxophone on national television and it was awesome. Not as traditional as I was expecting, but all the same two days later I woke up with their rendition of «Tell me Something Good».
6 euros to get in and comes with a drink. The next drink (s) are cheaper (like 3 euros); I’m not sure if it merits it’s über expensive rating. There aren’t many seats so if you want to sit better to get there around 10 when things are getting started. I’ll definitely be back at some point!

Imagine esto: la mujer detrás de la barra de regañar uno de los artistas por no decir «por favor» al pedir una bebida. Y porque yo estaba hablando con la artista, que se incluyó en la repercusión de su actitud. Eres trabajar la barra, su trabajo se sumerge en el servicio al cliente … necesitas para deshacerse de la actitud! Ella era una perra completa, apareciendo actitud con los artistas y clientes por igual. Las bebidas eran demasiado caro. Era € 3,60 para un 8 oz mini botella de Coca-​Cola y € 3,90 por un vaso de cerveza, también tuvimos que pagar para entrar en el bar ¿¡Qué! Es como pagar los precios a un disco o para servicio de mesa (que no había ninguna), por lo menos en una discoteca que se paga para entrar y te dan una bebida gratis. Por lo que he visto, el lugar cuenta con un gran elenco de grandes bandas, pero yo no creo que vaya a volver simplemente porque el servicio es vergonzoso, y la mujer detrás del bar es horible!
English: If I were rating the music, 5-​stars all the way! Root Down and the beautiful voice of Jade Cintron were incredible. The venue was overpriced, the service SUCKED ASS! Picture this: woman behind the bar scolding one of the artists for not saying «por favor» when asking for a drink. And because I was talking with the performer, I was included in the repercussion of her attitude. You work the bar, your job is soaked in customer service… you need to ditch the attitude! She was a complete BITCH, popping attitude with performers and customers alike. The drinks were over priced. It was € 3,60 for an 8 oz mini bottle of Coke. and € 3,90 for a glass of beer on tap. AND there was still a cover charge to get into the bar — are you KIDDING?! At those prices you better serve a drink with a smile! Not to mention there’s no table service. From what I’ve seen, the venue has quite a line up of great bands, but I don’t think I’ll be going back simply because the service is embarrassing, and the woman behind the bar is FOWL!

First time in Europe in May! Was thrilled to find this small gem of a Jazz Club in the Gothic Section directly outside of my Hostel. The band was much better than recent visits to the legendary Green Mill in my hometown of Chicago. The band was teetering on the edge of the dreaded Smooth Jazz at the start of their set, but quickly ascended to traditional Jazz and excellent solos. Soulful. Nice mixed crowd, and a great option for a night out if you are not up to pub crawling. There are hundreds of reviews of «Harlem» on Google so I guess it has a rep.

El Harlem no es para nada mi estilo, todo es muy clásico, casi podría ir a bailar con mi padre. Una vez fui a ver un grupo cubano de Barcelona (qué cosas tienen las comunicaciones modernas) y no paré de bailar en toda la noche, adapatarse o morir, porque ya que sales y ya que unos amigos te llevan, no te vas a estar toda la noche de morros. La verdad es que me lo pasé bien. Muy bien.
No era la primera vez que estaba, la primera vez que fui yo todavía estudiaba en la falcultad, ay madre, qué de años tiene este local, si ya te he dicho que podría ir a bailar con mi padre. Aquella vez también me lo pasé muy bien, por no hacer un feo a los colegas de clase. Toda la noche bailando hard rock o blues o un estilo de esos que le quedan tan bien a una copa de bourbon.
Seguramente tampoco fue la última, y me apuesto mi Bob Esponja a que también me lo voy a pasar en grande la próxima vez que vaya, pero bueno, que no es para nada mi estilo.

Es un emblemático de la escena jazz en Barcelona. Después de las 03h tiene un formato de sala disco latin jazz soul funky divertido para bailar, aunque de ambiente a veces un tanto, no sé, de frasco de colonia.
Lo mejor, los conciertos! Y mi mejor concierto en el Harlem, Perico Sanbeat con Marc Miralta. Estaba lleno, repleto de estudiantes del Taller de Músics y otras escuelas. Todos con la boca abierta, dando palmas y golpeando el suelo con el pie como niños, o como tontos, o como alucinados.

La música en vivo es algo que siempre me ha gustado y en Barcelona no hay tanto como uno se podría imaginar. Menos aún en el centro, donde las constantes quejas de los vecinos han cerrado más de un local de ocio. El Harlem es bastante pequeño, no caben más de 100 personas, pero tiene esa calidez que hace vibrar a los que lo frecuentan. Cada día de la semana un estilo musical diferente, con músicos entregados al público que los escucha (y a veces baila), casi encima del pequeño escenario predispuesto para el show. Con un precio de entrada totalmente aceptable y una barra no tan comprensiva con la situación económica actual, cumple con la función de hacer que la sangre corra más rápido por nuestras venas.

En esta sala se organizan conciertos y espectáculos de jazz y ritmos latinos, la entrada suele ser libre, pero los días que hay que pagar son sólo 5 euros con copa incluida. Sin duda un gran lugar para pasar la noche
