Recommended by a friend, I went to La Fonsa for the seafood paella and it was amazing! the crispy rice at the bottom was the best part. It was nice, fresh and filling. They have decent red wine sangria. The Barcelona beer was pretty good! It’s a nice venue that’s cozy with the red lo shades. I didn’t have any dessert but on the way our, I saw the crème brûlée which looked incredible!

Worst restaurant in Barcelona I think. Totally uneatable. The salmon and the steak taste like wood. Very bad experience. Don’t come here if you can choose. All vegetable fried so cold may be made yesterday. Especially French fries I never tried this kind of horrible taste. Lost money and regret coming here.

Had seafood paella and black rice. Prices are good, but the food is just ok. I had better seafood paella elsewhere in the city

Not what was expecting when I walked into the nicely decorated and centrally located restaurant. They had a price fixed menu which had some interesting options. We ordered from that menu and were not impressed with the food, although it wasn’t bad. The real issue with la Fonda has to be the service. The service was dry and not very attentive. Definitely not what I wanted my first restaurant in Barcelona to be like.

We ordered black rice. But the rice turn out to be extremely salty and it’s almost impossible to eat. I had only a few spoons of it and stopped. It’s an extremely aweful experience not to mention the waiter is doing a lousy job, not caring how the food is after seeing that I had a big place left uneaten. I definitely won’t recommend this place to anybody!!!

The service was not good. Waiters were probably very sleepy or something at the time we arrived. They basically showed no hospitality.
We waited at least 30 mins for food. B it wasn’t really impressive. I wasn’t even motivated to take pics of the food.
Won’t go back again.

Wanted to see what the hype is all about, every time I pass by j see a huge number of people waiting to be seated, and I thought it should be so great. But now I do not know where to start, the food was amazing! The food is all fresh, clean and tasty, not easy to find this quality around the rambla, it is without a doubt worth it. Such a good experience the waiters are all extremely nice.

Came here in search of some paella and were a little disappointed. The décor is very pretty and modern. Our servers were very nice and attentive; however, the paella lacked flavor. The texture was wonderful, but with all the seafood sitting on top, we would have hoped for more shrimp and calamari flavors through out.
I am happy we stopped in on our trip, since it is just off las ramblas, but I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends as it wasn’t all that memorable.

BBB: bueno, bonito y barato. Sitio escondido detrás Plaza Reial que pertenece al grupo Andila. Cocina de mercado y simple a precios razonables. Local bonito y cuidado, aunque la nueva carta tiene algo menos de encanto que la anterior.

Bueno, bueno, bueno… vaya sorpresa me ha dado este encantador lugar!
La Fonda es un restaurante tradicional, decorado de manera sobria y con muchísimo encanto, el cual ofrece un servicio de menú y carta bastante completo.
PROS:
— su encanto! Las mesas tienen mantel y servilleta de tela, el pan lo traen en una cestita de mimbre, las sillas son comodísimas y el lugar desprende una atmósfera íntima y relajada.
— los menús son buenos. Probamos con acierto uno de 10.45 € (sopa, albóndigas y profiteroles) y uno de 16.45 € (fideuà, bacalao y pastel de pera). La mesa de al lado (3) pidieron un par de ensaladas para compartir y una paella que tenía muy pero que muy buena pinta.
— el staff fue muy amable.
CONTRAS:
— no aceptan reservas, a excepción de grupos.
— el servicio es bastante lento, lo que significa que para disfrutar de todo el encanto del lugar no puedes venir con prisa. De lo contrario, te puedes poner de los nervios.
CURIOSIDADES:
— hay mucho turista asiático, debe de salir en alguna de sus guías. A pesar de lo turístico que pueda parecer, hay mucho lugareño también. Es, sin duda, una curiosa mezcla.
La valoración final: Me ha encantado. Pequeños detalles como que mi sopa podría haber estado un pelín mejor (con más fideos y pollo) y que mis profiteroles en teoría eran con chocolate caliente y vino un pelín frío, pero se perdona porque el local estaba a tope. Volveré a probar la paella.

La Fonda és un restaurant tradicional, decorat de manera sòbria i amb moltíssim encant, el qual ofereix un servei de menú i carta bastant complet.
PROS:
— El seu encant! Les taules tenen estovalles i tovalló de tela, el pa el porten en una cistella de vímet, les cadires són comodíssimes i el lloc desprèn una atmosfera íntima i relaxada.
— Els menús són bons. Vam provar amb encert un 10,45 € (sopa, mandonguilles i profiterols) i un de 16,45 € (fideuà, bacallà i pastís de pera). La taula del costat (3) van demanar un parell d’amanides per compartir i una paella que tenia molt però que molt bona pinta.
— L’staff va ser molt amable.
CONTRES:
— No accepten reserves, a excepció de grups.
— El servei és força lent, el que significa que per gaudir de tot l’encant del lloc no pots venir amb pressa. En cas contrari, et pots posar dels nervis.
CURIOSITATS:
— Hi ha molt turista asiàtic, ha de sortir en alguna de les seves guies. Malgrat el turístic que pugui semblar, hi ha molt vilatà també. És, sens dubte, una curiosa barreja.
La valoració final: M’ha encantat. Petits detalls com que la meva sopa podria haver estat una mica millor (amb més fideus i pollastre) i que els meus profiterols en teoria eren amb xocolata calenta i va venir una mica freda, però es perdona perquè el local estava a tope. Tornaré a provar la paella.

It is a terrible experience. Not only that the waiter is not patient at all but also getting wrong our order without even apologize. The bill is also wrong because the waiter did not bother to change the bill. I cannot believe how it can be worse. I’m only giving two stars because the food was satisfactory.

Came here on my first day in Barcelona for lunch, per the recommendation of the hotel reception. I ordered the prix fix menu at € 11 which included a starter, main, dessert, drink and bread — really good deal!
The food itself was a bit hit and miss. My pasta starter with marinara was the perfect texture but a little lacking in overall flavor.
My grilled chicken dish was wayyyy too rich and salty. To the the point where I was scraping the sauce off the chicken. The actual meat was really tender though!
For dessert, I had a cake with chocolate. Delicious, sweet and rich. I could only handle a couple of bites, but it’s perfect for someone with a sweet tooth.
Service was actually pretty good especially considering how busy they were during lunch. And most of the people seemed to be enjoying their meals, so I might have just ordered the wrong menu items. But overall I was sadly underwhelmed and likely wouldn’t return.

We went here for early dinner by Barcelona standards. Great restaurant, friendly staff, and good food. They are open from 1pm to 11pm daily!
They have a special menu (prix fixe) for 17 euros which includes a starter, a main course, a dessert, ¼L of wine, and bread. Great deal overall with huge portions for one person. The black noodles with squid was too salty. The stewed veal was delicious. The ice cream was just just out of the package on a stick. Also had the goat cheese salad which is delicious.
Overall great experience, would definitely recommend a visit.

Jeden Tag war vor dem La Fonda eine Schlange von Wartenden. Heute gg. 20 Uhr brauchten wir nur ca. 10 min warten. Unser zugewiesener Tisch lag leider im Gang neben dem Zahltresen. Hier war viel Durchgangsverkehr von Gästen und der Bedienung.
Gegessen haben wie à la carte. Weinkarte ist in Ordnung und insgesamt günstig (Flasche zw. 9 — 15 €). Die Vorspeisen (Canneloni und Spinat mit Garnelen) waren gut. Als Hauptgericht hatten wir Valencianische Paella. Diese fiel durch weglassen auf und schmeckte insgesamt etwas wässrig. Weglassen deshalb, weil nur Kaninchen mit verarbeitet wurde. Geflügel und Schwein waren nicht dabei. Zudem fehlte Zitrone und Geschmack durch eine würzigere Brühe. Der Nachtisch war dann wieder versöhnlich.
Fazit: Einmalige Angelegenheit.
Tip: Manchmal ist weniger mehr. Qualität und dann auch gern die Preise etwas höher und dann wahrscheinlich auch etwas weniger hektisch und persönlicher.

It was a long wait! Not only outside the door, but also inside! We waited 5 mins until the waiter noticed us, and waited another 15 mins for ordering our bill. We ordered salad, paella and steak.
The taste were just soso, they were good, but not enough as the comments on Unilocal

We came here one night after seeing a long line of people outside thinking that it must be good. Here’s a breakdown of our dinner:
Service: ¹⁄₅ they weren’t very helpful and unfriendly immediately upon entering. It took over 30 minutes to get our bill after asking for it. The wine glasses and utensils were visibly dirty as well.
Food: ¹⁄₅ we ordered a bottle of wine which was alright. We had patatas Bravas which were really poor. It seemed as if they had cooked it a few hours ago and left it under a heat lamp until it was ordered. We also had some pan con tomate where the bread was incredibly stale. Lastly, we had some Valencia paella which was just okay. The meat was very dry and the rice was hard at times. We did not finish a single thing that we ordered because it was so bad.
Atmosphere — ³⁄₅ the lighting is bad in some places, and it is very very touristy. There was a good amount of noise. This was about the only thing that the place had going.
Overall, I would not recommend this place at all. I hope that you read the reviews rather than look at the line like we did. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely terrible. Not only is the quality of the food awful and this place full of tourists but they stole 20 euro from our table. Our check was 54 euro and we needed change so we gave them 80 € and they gave us nothing back. We told them we needed our change and they denied the entire situation and were extremely rude. The waitirlaughed and yelled at is which is appalling.

We visited La Fonda on the first night and I would’ve rated it as a 4– or even 5-​star experience, however, we decided to visit it once more during our stay in Barcelona and it was a very disappointing evening.
On the first night we were seated upstairs, where it was dimmer and had a slightly better atmosphere although the lighting of our table was extremely bad — we could not see into our plates as the light was a spotlight shining onto the floor rather than the table.
We ordered paella and it was nicely arranged and tasty. The sangria was also very good and refreshing. Our waiter was friendly and welcoming and the food did not take very long to come.
Our second night was literally the opposite as we were sat downstairs in the ‘cellar’ area. The light there was ironically better so we could finally see what we were eating. However, it took the waiter about 10 mins to bring the drinks, another 15 for the starter and we waited for the paella for an hour! We were told it would «be ready in 2» about 45 mins in, but with no apology whatsoever. The waiter seemed annoyed, uninterested, slammed the dishes and took ages to clean up the mess on the neighboring tables. The atmosphere seemed tense and definitely not relaxing. You’d expect a restaurant with so many visits per night to have a better system and a staff that could handle the stress.
Therefore, I’d say give this restaurant a try but arrive before 8pm. We arrived at 8:30pm and were leaving at 10:30pm, unhappy.

Sehr einladendes Restaurant. Macht einen vornehmen Eindruck. Das Ambuente ist sehr angenehm. Das Essen ist einheimisch und lecker. Die Preise sind erstaunlich günstig. Leider macht die demotivierte Bedienung einen auf Touristen –Abfertigung und damit alles zum Durchschnitt

Me encanta venir aquí a comer arroces o fideuá. Tienen un menú del día por unos 16 € muy interesante. Aunque no optes por menú, podrás probar arroces, fideuá y pescados a un precio excelente.
Y si quieres rematar con un postre típico, puedes apostar por una crema catalana.
Es un poco incómodo el hecho de que no acepten reservas, así que si vas con un grupo grande de gente intenta estar a primera hora. De todos modos, el local es bastante grande por lo que aunque tengas que esperar, en media hora es bastante probable que ya estés sentado.

I went to this restaurant during my short trip to Barcelona for lunch with my family. It is definitely worth it for lunch. Sangria was pretty good and food overall was good. Desserts were too sweet though but gotta give credit for their creativity.
I went here right when it opened but by the time I finished my three course meal, the restaurant was filled. So I would recommend going a little early before the lunch traffic comes in.

Muito bom! Não deixe de pedir a paella mixta! Simplesmente deliciosa. O vinho Casa Vella acompanha muito bem. O ambiente é romântico e o atendimento muito cordial. Recomendo!

Walking in here, we were surrounded with by other Asian couples and families…“Are you guys using Unilocal and Trip Advisor too?” we wondered. Such a fascinating observation, but amusing to say the least. :)
Anyway, glad we all got pointed in the direction of La Fonda. Almost every table had sangria and paella and as did we! Both were great choices, but not THE BEST. I am still looking for the paella that’s bursting at the seams with fresh seafood and has that crispy crust from the pan.
This paella had a softer rice than I prefer with small pieces of squid throughout but with mussels and shrimp that seemed to be frozen. Yikes! This coupled with so so service makes it a 3 star for me.
Needless to say, the search continues…

Pour l avoir connu dans le temps la fonda a bien changé! La paella est revisité à la chinoise ce qui casse tout le charme d un restaurant catalan mais surtout du plat! De mon avis perso passez votre chemin …

Loved this busy, little place. There was a short line outside the door waiting to get in! We met a small group of lovely older ladies that told us to definitely eat at La Fonda. We were out shopping for souvenirs on that street.
Prices are moderate. Its typical European seating (close quarters for Americans) but it was lovely. The food was awesome. We had paella.
It was a good stop! no regrets. :)

5 min warten, dann wurde der Keller eröffnet. Wer in Barcelona die beste Paella essen will geht hier hin!!! Ich hab noch immer den Geschmack dieses Wunderwerkes in den Schleimhäuten!!!

Fleisch war zäh, reis war gut aber kaum 5g, viel zu wenig. spinat? Naja sowas hatte ich noch nie, das waren spinat blätter getrocknet, luft in grün.
Der hauswein ist naja mehr fällt mir dazu nicht ein. Restaurant sieht nach 4 sterne aus ist né 1 im mac donald hät ich besser gegessen und hätte meinen hunger gestilt. 15. EUR menu– wenn ich denke das bei uns eine vorspeise so viel kostet kann man da fast nichts sagen doch wie auch immer fazit: das erste u. Letzte mal, nicht zu empfehlen

Essen in Barcelona ist ist nicht einfach, wenn man sich nicht auskennt. Aber ins La Fonda gehe ich immer wieder gerne. Soldes Essen zu einem günstigen Preis da kann man eigentlich nicht meckern.

Widerlich ! Mein Lachs und das Steak meines Freundes waren einfach nur ekelhaft, so wie der Wein. Wir hatten beide das Gefühl das sie nach dem zubereiten des Essens das Essen noch einmal durchs Öl gezogen haben. Wir hatten einfach nur Fettgeschmack und ich danach einen qualvollen Abend mit Magenschmerzen. Dieses Restaurant ist auch nur eine Tourifalle.

Das Essen im La Fonda ist im großen und ganzen gut. Die Preise sind sehr günstig. Das merkt man einigen Gerichten auch an. Nicht daß es schlecht ist, aber auch keine Superqualität.
Man speist aber gediegen in einem schönem Ambiente. Mal ganz angenehm zu dem Rest der Touriabzockrestaurants.
Wir müssen allerdings noch anmerken, dass der Service etwas bocklos war. War schade!

Pasando por la calle Escudeller, podéis ver una cola larguísima ya a las 8 de la tarde.
Es de la gente que espera entrar a La Fonda.
Restaurante sobre todo turístico, con un ambiente joven y ameno, es muy concurrido por la relación calidad precio que ofrece. Con una cocina que mezcla la mediterránea, con la catalana y la internacional, prepara unos platos sencillos, pero buenos. Hasta unas paellas que no son para nada desdeñables.
Yo fui varias veces, porqué me llevaron mis padres que lo descubrieron en un guía turística y desde entonces, cada vez que vienen, por lo menos una cena la hacemos aquí.
Ojo, no hacen reservas, así que hay que tomárselo con calma porqué habrá que esperar un rato.

Puede que la calle Escudellers no sea la primera opción para planear una cena de grupo o una velada romántica, pero La Fonda ha logrado romper todos los estereotipos que colecciona este lugar tan céntrico. No en vano, se ha convertido en un restaurante a tener en cuenta si queremos huir de los lugares más típicos de la ciudad y es una recomendación habitual en las guías turísticas de Barcelona.
La gran recomendación, sobretodo para el fin de semana, es reservar mesa o acudir con tiempo suficiente para evitar las colas que se forman, puesto que es un imán para turistas. El ambiente bullicioso, las conversaciones animadas, los brindis se sobreponen unos a otros y un ejército de camareros esquivando sillas hábilmente con sus bandejas llenas de platos. Ésta es la imagen que recuerdo de la última vez que fui a cenar y me acomodaron en la segunda planta, con vistas a la animada calle Escudellers.
A destacar que la relación entre calidad y precio no está nada mal, teniendo en cuenta que el pescado es fresco, las ensaladas generosas y los postres muy tentadores. Pero si hay un plato de su carta que destaca por encima del resto, éste es el arroz negro. Una recomendación que ya se ha hecho famosa en Barcelona y que no acostumbra a defraudar a nadie.

Restaurante amplio, tipico para comidas/​cenas grandes con amigos, familiares o gente del trabajo. El menu es estupendo, recomiendo los arroces– buenisimos!

Recién llegado a Barcelona no acostumbraba ir mucho a restaurantes. No sabía a dónde ir, y los más obvios eran demasiado caros. Pero cuando me fui a vivir al Barrio Gótico descubrí este lugar que cumple con las tres características que más me gustan: Bueno, bonito y barato. Llegué cerca de las 21hs y había una veintena de personas esperando antes que yo. Ahí me dio tiempo para admirar el interior, ya que cuenta con un ventanal gigantesco que separa los dos pisos de la calle. No podía ser que este local tan encantadoramente ambientado a media luz y con manteles en las mesas fuera tan barato.
Nunca se bien qué comer, así que agradecí que el menú fuera mediterráneo, o sea que tuviera un poco de todo.
La cena transcurrió en un ambiente de tranquilidad y relajación tal que me dejé llevar y pedí tres platos, mas postre y vino. Al llegar al final pensé que pagaría caro mi atrevimiento, pero mi parte no superó los 25 euros.
Cuando me perdía por las diminutas callecitas colindantes no pude evitar voltear y observar con afecto, «ya nos volveremos a ver».

super restaurant, on y mange bien, on est bien accueilli, un des meilleur de la ville

Es un restaurante perfecto cerca de una zona muy turística. El local es muy bonito y elegante.
Es un restaurante con una relación calidad precio envidiable, ya que dos personas pueden comer por unos 30 – 35 €.
Personalmente destacaría el pescado y el lomo rústido, aunque evita pedir los canelones, no merecen la pena.
El servicio es muy bueno, pero algunos camareros no hablan muy bien castellano, pero no es un inconveniente.

Pour bien commencer sa soirée
Si vous passez à Barcelone, allez un soir à la Fonda… Bön c’est vrai qu’il faut faire la queue, et vu le monde qui attend dehors le service est expéditif. Le décor est cependant assez chaleureux. Et côté assiette? Des classiques du cru, bien cuisiné, pas trop généreux sur la quantité de poissons ou de viandes dans l’assiette (même si c’est assez copieux, beaucoup de riz pour la paella)… Essayez le riz noir (à l’encre de seiche) c’est très goûteux mais on arrive pas à finir, tellement il y en a… L’addition est plus que raisonnable… Bref une adresse pour bien manger et pas se ruiner pour débuter une soirée à Barcelone qui sera longue…;o)

Lo recomiendo totalmente. he ido desde pequeño primero con mis padres, y ya después con la gente del trabajo, y se come muy bien y con una gran variedad de platos a escoger.
Se crean colas bastante largas en la entrada, por lo que es bueno ir con tiempo o llamar para reservar, porque sino te va a tocar esperar un buen rato.
Respecto a la limpieza, esta muy curada, tanto en las mesas como en los lavabos y los suelos del restaurante.
Esta muy centrico, y no te va a costar encontrarlo.

Este es uno de los restaurantes más famosos de barcelona.
El entusiasmo y la dedicación que le ponen a la cocina hace que merezca la pena dejarse caer por aquí, pues tiene un menú diario de lunes a viernes y para los que no les convenza siempre les queda la alternativa de comer a la carta que aunque parezca mentira no resulta nada caro, aunque parezca una utopia comer a la carta a un buen precio.
La especialidad de la casa son los platos de cocina mediterranea como la paella, el arroz a banda, el arroz negro o el rape con patata, el único inconveniente que ofrece este restaurante es que suele haber bastante cola y no admiten reservas

la fonda é um restaurante muito bom no bairro gotico de barcelona. uma refeiçao com entrada, prato principal e sobremesa sai por volta de 12 euros, e a comida é deliciooooosa o problema é que com a fama de lugar bom e barato, as filas na porta sao enormes. mas valem a pena, com certeza!

Rapport Qualité /​Prix imbattable
Ce restaurant est tout simplement génial ! Les prix sont discount et la qualité des plats n’est pas négligée pour autant. Le décor est agréable et cossu. Il est impératif de réserver avant d’y aller car la queue peut parfois atteindre plusieurs dizaine de mètres… Le décor est agréable et si vous avez la chance de dîner dans le caveau, vous né manquerez pas de jetter un coup d’oeil au fresque sur les voûtes du plafond. Bön Profit !

Très proche du Quinze Nits… en moins bien
Ce restaurant est très proche du Quinze Nits de la place Reial, tant au niveau de la cuisine que des prix. Tout comme son voisin, la soirée commence forcément par la file d’attente à l’extérieur de l’établissement. Une fois installés, nous sont proposés des plats très convenables pour des prix raisonnables mais la qualité est très variable d’une spécialité à l’autre et en moyenne moins bon que sur la place Reial. La paella est le plat le mieux réussi.

Fêter la Saint Valentin à Barcelone, génial, ensuite petit resto… Bien entendu on a dû faire la queue longtemps (plus ou moins 1h) mais vu les circonstances… Et franchement on a vraiment bien fait d’attendre c’était tout simplement d-​é-​l-​i-​c-​i-​e-​u-​x. Je vous le recommande :)
