Great tapas. The burger was a must have. Great prices and friendly staff. Found this place while getting lost in the alleys around Las Ramblas, glad we did.

I am thoroughly surprised with how good my last meal in Barcelona actually turned out to be. With a name like«Grill Room,» I was expecting basic burgers, fries, and maybe some American drunkenness sprinkled on top. We came in because we saw they had an affordable set menu for dinner, and was close to Las Ramblas where we had been shopping around for souvenirs. So we took a chance at a place that could have easily ended up being a Denny’s. Instead, it was the opposite. Décor was very nice, although low ceilings in the middle of the restaurant gave me a hard time when navigating to the back. There were private booths facing the windows of the restaurant too that I wish we had booked in advance for. Next time! From our eyes looming over everybody’s tables, we could see that the set menu was the way to go. For 15 €, we got a standard glass of wine and bread, along with an appetizer, main, and dessert. I started off with a caprese salad knowing that I needed to fill my diet with some greens after all the paella and potatoes I had eaten. The dish was fairly large for an appetizer, and had a great ratio of tomatoes and mozzarella to get my taste buds started. The basil sauce was not overpowering and complimented the starter. Following this, my ahi tuna came out, and it was very different from what I am used to in Asian cooking. The sauce was tangier and reminded me of aioli sauce. Strangely, it worked! Finally for dessert, I ordered a raspberry ice cream that was refreshing and ended a very full meal. With good service and a friendly atmosphere, I have to say that Grill House surpassed all expectations and really gave me a nice send off meal before heading home to the States.

Nice restaurant in a not crowded restaurant right next to a touristic spot: las ramblas! Very good international cousin and great service!

Great menu. I had a wonderful mozzarella peal salad, duck confit with parmentier potatoes with a port wine reduction, a glass of wine, and Catalan cream for dessert. All for 16.95 euros

This restaurant took us by surprise. We had no idea that we were going to end up eating at a place that would become such a memorable experience during our trip to Spain. We dropped by here for dinner because it was conveniently located by the apartment that we were staying at. We saw people eating burgers and fries, so we didn’t think much of it when we first walked in. The restaurant is very ornate on the outside and the interior is classy. Definitely had a sophisticated, yet welcoming feel to it. We ordered the jamon with Catalan bread(a typical starter) and fried aubergines, which lead the meal to a great start. Next up, we had the swordfish ceviche in «Tiger’s Milk»(coconut milk I think) and it was also tasty. The main course was the cod fish in cream cheese sauce with quince. It was superbly done and very flavorful. Definitely the highlight of the meal! The flavors melded well together and every bite was delectable. I think we ended up licking the plate completely clean. This was the standout dish for us. Last up, the«Gin & Tonic in textures» dessert ended the meal in pure bliss. It was a very creative interpretation of an edible gin & tonic. Imagine light cloud-like layers of foam and jelly, infused with deep gin flavors. It introduces you to a unique experience in terms of the textures you feel on your tongue. Beautifully presented with a sprinkle of pink peppercorn on top. Very delicious and definitely something to share with at least two people. All in all, the experience we had here was amazing and we would come back again the next time we visit Barcelona.

Came here tonight when La Fonda was too busy. It was very decent!!! We were pretty conservative in ordering as we just wanted a sure thing and weren’t disappointed. Value was good. Happy with service and experience. Caesar– garlicky and lots of anchovies Endive salad– looked like a pile of marshmallow with purple leaves sticking out of it but was surprisingly good. The white foam was some sort of cheese. Spaghetti with bolognese– good! A little sweet for my tastes but noodles were perfect. Beef carpaccio– tender and well flavored Dessert was gin and tonic in textures-??? That’s what I said but it was creative and pleasant! Lemon sorbet on a jelly of gin with some foam. I didn’t try the paella but wouldn’t have high expectations for that there. Saw many various plates come by that looked good. Maybe I’ll come back when I’m craving a burger or fried fish. Sure it’s not your traditional… «I’m inBarcelona and want every meal to be amazing and perfect» type of meal but it had enough familiar with a touch of clever and yummy. Be careful though. Saw a man chasing after a pick pocket right after outside!!!

Mediocre food. Very forgettable. Dated décor. Hard to even get motivated to write a review about it. A couple of dishes(pasta) were ok with couple of members of our group hence the 3 otherwise would have been a 1.

Really pretty and really cheap. I had house wine(white), which was crisp and sweet, for only 2 Euros. WHAT! Water is. 60 cents cheaper?! Um. more wine please. Food was also pretty good — especially the appetizer, the suckling pig was fatty heaven in my mouth! The seaweed salad it was served on was also tasty and sweet. For entrée, I ordered the cod, which was lightly battered and fried. The fish wasn’t as soft and moist as I had hoped, but the cream sauce and the jelly cubes it was served with was delicious. The décor is also pretty Euro upscale — really pretty with intricate designs, glasswork, and well-placed lights. Definitely a nice place for couples — I was the odd one eating by my lonesome self. Service was also solid here — waitresses were very attending, and brought my bill fairly quickly without me asking after I started giving hints like putting my card on the table(a first here in Barcelona so far!) Whole bill(including water) came to be around 22 euros for dinner. And, this place is located really close to Las Ramblas, which is very touristy. So, amazing deal! Definitely would recommend — especially if you don’t want to wait in line at Fonda next door.

Sadly, we picked the only place in Barcelona with bad food. This was the worst Paella I have EVER eaten. My heritage is Spanish and I grew up on Paella at my grandparent’s home. This was a mixed seafood Paella with old bits of calamari and one prawn cut in half on top. The dish had no trace of saffron and was in a heavy oil laden gravy that tasted as if it was cooked in a soy sauce– AWFUL!!!. I should have sent it back to the kitchen, but we we starved before a show and had no time to do so. I have worked in the food Industry most of my adult life and have never experienced such a culinary travesty. Perhaps due to popularity of the dish from tourist they felt the need to serve us something not even befitting for street animals.

Excellent burgers, affordable and good localization. Much better than all the touristic places that are legion in the neighborhood.

Went for food here tonight, after walking past it a the night before when it was bustling. On Monday around 21:00 we were one of three couple in the restaurant, and we were seated quickly, although I think forgotten about as we were around the corner from the bar(a fourth couple came in around 5 minutes after us and we’re served and fed starters before our order was taken) Once our orders were taken we were quickly served. We ordered the Grill Burger(comes with egg, bacon and cheese) and the Californian Burger we could choose how well cooked we wanted the burger which is always a plus and sign the burgers would be good, we weren’t disappointed, food was excellent quality and the burger patties were thick and juicy, only slight whinge would be the the amount of fries that came with it, not a great amount be more than enough for my wife and I’m a big eater so I’ll let them off. I finished off the meal with the chocolate brownie which was also very good. Total bill for two burgers, litre of sangria and brownie 34 euros. Would have been 5 stars but the service wasn’t the greatest.

Just came across this place in the side street we were on. Looked good, and popular so we went in. Menu had a wide variety, and was very good for a reasonable price. I would give them 3-stars, but for overall value they get a bump to 4.

Exceptional value for a great meal. The food was outrageously good. We selected the menu del dia. It was an exceptional value. For 10 euros you got a three course meal and it wasn’t fast food. It was a solid quality meal and I intend to return for more before the end of this trip. I highly recommend.

We had a really nice dinner at the grill room. We really appreciated the satff: smiley, helpfull, speaks your language. The food itself is good and tasty. And not that expensive(15 € /person wine included — but i recommand to take a better quality wine — a french one :-) A really nice memory. Thanks guys !

Firstly it should be called the Fry Room instead of the Grill Room. Be careful with the Tapas menu because both the things we ordered were to our surprise fried. Secondly the Tuna Tartare tasted very nice until I suddenly got an intense and very unpleasant fishy bite. The kind of thing that makes you instantly worried you’re going to get sick. After that we couldn’t get out fast enough

The day we arrived in Barcelona we were too hungry and ready to be served to cook our own food from the fabulous market so head to one of the restaurants recommended by the owner of the apartment. We were not disapointed. The menu was fairly cheap for our hungry bellies. 15 Euros for three courses and drink. Some strange options on the menu but all was made right in the world when I tasted the squid and vegetable I had opted for as my main. It was so soft I hardly believed it was squid — the tentacles gave it away though and I am forced to acknowledge that evey other chef that has cooked squid for me must immediately go to Barcelona and talk to the Chef at the Grill Room. Be careful what you choose and you are in for a real treat with this place.

We wanted an early dinner, and the Grill Room was recommended to the 6 of us. We had just flown in that morning & were looking for a nice dinner of paella. All 6 of us ordered it. We were disappointed in the quality. Dark & muddy looking, it contained very little seafood(1 shrimp, 2 mussels) but had a few fatty & boney pork pieces. Needless to say, we dont recommend the paella. However, to be fair, we saw several other meals go by our table that looked wonderful. I guess you have to sit for awhile & watch what goes by before ordering. Lol on a positive note; the house red wine was nice & pretty inexpensive. The padron pepper appetizer was very good too. The atmosphere was great too. One time here was enough for the six of us

As we were walking up the street, we looked in the windows and saw such a beautiful looking setting that we just had to go in. by the front door, we saw some signs in the window — and one of them just sealed the deal for us: 1 euro for a cana & tapa. sold. we went in, sat at the bar, had a couple of beers and tapas. what really stands out is the décor of the place — it’s a stunning grand dame of a building. anything art nouveau makes me swoon. as for the full menu, i haven’t a clue what’s on it or what the prices are like. but the service at the bar was great. we were really happy we popped in and got 2 beers and 2 canas for under 5 bucks.
