This is definitely, highly-recommended as this has everything that a tourist can hope for: action, good food, also cheap, a cool market, historical architecture, and safety. There were a few smaller, 3 – 4 storey hotels that I would definitely consider staying, mostly 3 stars. Kinda neat how they post the # of star on the front windows. Yet, still a lot of locals here too, hearing ppl speak Spanish. Shopping’s pretty good too, though no major malls but lots of other restaurants lined up along the streets. you can spend a day or two wandering around.

Clean, cool and on point. Barcelona is full of places to eat. Here is one of the good ones.

For the record, this is a restaurant and not the actual la Rambla tourist district. Came here for breakfast and wasn’t pleased at all. I ordered tea and croissant. BF was already halfway done with his sandwich(edible, nothing great) by the time I was told that there was no more croissant. I went for the toast instead, which I didn’t even give a try. It wasn’t burnt but it was so hard. maybe it’s the Spaniard way? The whole waiting and meal took an unnecessary hour. Sad to say but I would suggest to avoid this place.

The heart of Barcelona! This is where you’ll find the action, the atmosphere, the flower markets and the food markets, some interesting little museums(erotic museum and jamon museum anyone?) as well as the street performers and adorable little restaurants set out in the street. When the sun is shining it’s a really great place to check out and soak in the Spanish atmosphere and culture. Be careful of your belongings though, there are pickpockets about! Also, this is probably not the place to go looking for nightlife, it’s a little quiet around there, head down to the beach(as far away as that is!) because that’s where the party is at!

La Rambla is the tourist trap of all tourist traps. The shops, kiosks, and restaurants that line the road are all very good for your first hour or two in the city, but it reeks of everything tourist. Basically, it’s good for what it is, but don’t expect more. A side note to La Rambla is to watch out for pick pockets and stay away from here at night. A Dutch traveler that I was with had to sprint away from some muggers on a warm night in July this past year. Use this as a daytime place to buy a few gifts and have a snack. 6⁄10

Very busy street, lots of nice boutiques and just OK shops. It is a touristy area, therefore you get lots of crowds and not necessarily the finest merchandise, but you certainly get a feel for the city. All-in-all I was happy to have checked it out.

I’m from America and I wasn’t too excited about Ramblas. Read many rave reviews on it, but there is better shopping down many of the side streets. I won’t take all credit away though. There is a huge marketplace where you can buy any food item you can think of, from sugary candy to live fish for eating. Tried the cheese empanada at one of the shops and was beyond pleased with the results! This place was definitely worth checking out.
