What an amazingly fun and delicious bar! It is set up in a typical Basque style where they have cold tapas out with toothpicks, you pick what you want, and are charged 1 – 2 euro per toothpick after you are done.
My boyfriend and I stopped here for dinner on our last night in Barcelona and honestly wished we found it sooner. We shared a bunch of different tapas and had the best time. We also tried some of the hot tapas that came out after the kitchen rang the bell. Everything we had was absolutely the most delicious tapas we had during our time in Barcelona. The hardest decision of the evening truly was to stop eating because it was all that good. We also enjoyed 3 glasses each of the house wine. And the wait staff here was so warm and welcoming. They really made it feel like you were in a neighborhood spot and you were all old friends.
And if this place could get any better our bill came out to about 18 euro per person.
We would be here all the time if we were locals but what a fantastic way to end the trip.

Was this the best tapas I had in Spain? Absolutely not, nut it was a different experience. I am not going to explain the difference since other reviewers have already done so. I wouldn’t recommend this place for dinner if you are picky about the ambience or with a big group. This place is good for lunch or if you are on a budget.

We stopped in for a late lunch after an afternoon of sight seeing. The way this place works is that you order your drink and then serve yourself some cold tapas from the front area. The waitress will ring a bell as she walks out some hot tapas from the kitchen. They keep track of the number of toothpicks (and their size) to determine how many tapas you ate and what your bill will come out to.
I started off with a decently sized glass of Mahou (for only 1,90 euros!) and some cold tapas. We also had some of the hot tapas, including a breaded chicken tapa with barbecue sauce on it. The food was pretty good and cheap. For two people eating a total of about 10 tapas and two drinks, the bill came out to less than 20 euros. What a very good deal!
If you want decent food and a cheap lunch, this is a great spot.

My parents, husband, and I ate here in May 2015. We had just toured La Pedrera and this casual restaurant is within walking distance. When we walked in looking for lunch they were quite busy but they greeted us right away and we opted to sit in the bar area so that we could sit immediately. As we sat down the manager visited our table and informed us that we had visited ‘on a very special day’ (a Tuesday). They run a special with numerous different tapas to choose from at the bar, each has a toothpick in it. Select as many as you want, server counts the toothpicks at the end. 1 Euro per toothpick. The casual tapas were good and this place was a fun experience.

The best tapas are the ones just coming out of the kitchen served by the waitresses.

Le concept: Des serveuses passent régulièrement avec des assiettes de tapas. Chaque tapas a un cure-​dent: un petit cure-​dent = 1,40 € et un grand cure-​dent = 1,90 €. A la fin du repas, on compte vos cure-​dents et voilà l’addition!
J’ai adoré ce concept car il permet de manger au gré de ses envies et de son appétit. Quand on voit une tapas appétissante passée, on la prend! Ma préférée a été celle au fois gras poêlé. Je recommande aussi la sangria, 1L = 10 €.
En bref, je pense que ce restaurant à tapas vaut le détour si vous êtes à Barcelone, le concept est sympa et les tapas sont bonnes.

Lizarran was next door to my hotel (Doubletree) when I was staying in Barcelona, and they served Pinxos, which were quite tasty. They do have a happy hour where the pinxos have a special price. Good place to go if you are hungry and just want a bite– especially when you are traveling from the US and you aren’t used to the late times that the Spanish eat lunch and dinner — that is quite an adjustment. Would definitely recommend for a quick bite.

Amazing place! The drinks and food are inexpensive and the staff is very accommodating.

Not sure why other reviewers were so excited about this place. Avarge food like of which you can find at any tourist trap in BCN.

Wow — what a find! Right on the same block as our hotel! They serve exclusively pinxos, which are small open faced sandwiches layered with heavenly ingredients — it’s self-​serve — grab some and sit down, and they will get your drink. And then get up and get more. And more. Yum. Very reasonable prices. Sorry we found this on our last day… Only drawback is they don’t have outdoor seating.

C’était a tout hasard que nous nous sommes arrêtés dans ce merveilleux bar a tapas. L’expérience a été sublime!
Très convivial, le personnel est souriant et serviable. Comme la plupart des serveurs de Barcelone, ils parlent plusieurs langues, la communication est donc très accessible.
Et quand on commence a parler de leurs tapas, c’est comme lorsqu’on les mange: on né peut plus s’arrêter!
Il y a un bar ouvert ou on choisit les tapas froids. On a l’embarras du choix et tout est DÉLICIEUX!
Ensuite, les serveurs arrivent des cuisines avec des tapas chauds qu’on peut prendre directement de leurs plats.
La bière coule à flots. Et le tout pour des prix plus que raisonnables.
C’est un restaurant que je recommande vivement et c’est sûrement une adresse que je note dans mon carnet des «must»!

We made a last minute decision to stop here while sightseeing in Barcelona. The place has a great, upbeat vibe. The hardest part about coming here is deciding on which pinchos to have and convincing yourself to stop. We counted a whopping 25 pinchos between by husband and I and they were all amazing. Sit near the kitchen so you have first dibs when that bell rings, as they usually don’t make it to the pincho bar. Cañas were perfect. One month later, we are still talking about.
A must-​visit for a quick, inexpensive lunch in Barcelona, but be warned, once you start, you can’t stop!

Sara y yo salimos de esa conferencia sin saber exactamente qué hacer ni a donde ir.
Era una situación algo peliaguda, esta chica siempre se me escapa a la mínima ocasión, y sabía que si no la convencía de ir a tomar algo, esa caminata sin sentido nos llevaría directamente su casa. Y esta vez no iba a invitarme a subir.
–Sara, me muero de hambre ¿vamos a cenar algo?
–A mí no me apetece comer. –dijo mirando el reloj. –Además, mi economía no está para demasiadas comilonas.
Ya estábamos, otra vez queriendo escaparse. Aunque analizando bien la frase, no había dicho explícitamente que se quisiera ir. ¡Todavía tenía una oportunidad!
–Bueno, si quieres podemos ir a mi casa, creo que todavía tengo algunas cervezas.
Se volvió firme hacia mí y me miró con picardía, directamente a los ojos. No le hizo falta decir nada para dejarme claro que esa noche no iba a caer. Hace demasiados años ya que nos conocemos, y nuestras conversaciones telepáticas se estaban empezando a hacer habituales.
La repasé de arriba a abajo: botas, tejanos apretados y camisa de cuadros. No disimulaban su figura. No me hubiera importado para nada, pero era mejor realizar un cambio de estrategia:
–Oye, hay un sitio al que todavía no he ido y puede que te guste. Cada día paso con el bus, es rollo tapeo. –Proposición hecha, ahora faltaban las palabras mágicas– Además, ¡La cerveza es barata!
-¿Cerveza barata? ¡Vamos!
Nunca deja de sorprenderme el entusiasmo con la que Sara acepta una cerveza, pero había vuelto a funcionar. Definitivamente hace muchos años que nos conocemos.
Cuando llegamos delante del Lizarran me doy cuenta que el autobús no solo pasa por delante del local, sino que además tiene una parada a menos de 10 metros. Debería despegar un poco más la vista de mi ebook cuando viajo.
Entramos en el local. Estaba bastante más lleno de lo que esperaba, pero una llamativa camarera nos encuentra una mesa justo delante de donde se sirven las tapas. Tiene una sonrisa simpática, aunque me llama más la atención el tatuaje que lleva en el brazo. Qué bien le queda. ¿Tendrá más escondidos? Antes de que mi imaginación vuele, ella nos interrumpe:
-¿Sabéis cómo funciona esto? ¿Habéis estado antes aquí?
Antes de que Sara pueda adelantarse, preparo una de mis mejores sonrisas y le digo:
–No tengo ni la más absoluta idea. ¿Pero tu me vas a ayudar, verdad?
–Pues la cosa va a… sí –dice en tono de teleoperadora y sin hacerme demasiado caso– Los pinchos cortos 1.30 €, los largos 2 €, y cuando suene la campana, ahí al final salen calientes y muy buenos, una compañera os los traerá a la mesa.
En vista de mi poco éxito, antes de que haya terminado su perorata me pongo a juguetear con lo que queda de un billete del metro que saco del bolsillo. Sara pide 2 cañas y le agradece las indicaciones. La miro de reojo, ella altivamente me devuelve una sonrisa de burla.
–Tampoco me interesaba tanto. –Me justifico. Sabe que no es cierto. Se ríe todavía más.
Charlamos un buen rato, sobre todo, sobre nada. El sitio no está mal: la gente entra y sale, y el local nunca está vacío. No es el lugar más tranquilo de mundo, pero tampoco es demasiado ruidoso. No quiero ni imaginar cómo es el martes, donde los montaditos van a 1 €.
Cuando suena la campanilla, ambos nos miramos y luego nos volteamos, esperando que salga ese montadito de Queso Brie que antes hemos dejado escapar, avaros, por tener un bastón demasiado largo, y que ahora ya no volverá a aparecer.
Entre nosotros hay risas y alcohol, y disfrutamos ante la emoción de no saber cuál será la siguiente tapa que aparezca. A medida que pasan los minutos, su plato acumula más palitos que el mío. Y ella era quien decía que no tenía hambre: ¡Já!
Cada vez se hace más tarde, nuestro apetito se sácia, el local se va vaciando, y no tengo la cuenta de cuantas cervezas hemos tomado ya. Sé que mañana trabajo. Sé que ella mañana trabaja. ¿Qué más dá? Como dice mi compañero de piso: soy joven.
Y me lanzo:
–Bueno ¿Vamos a tomar la última cerveza a mi casa?
–No, pero mejor vamos recogiendo, que mañana madrugo. –Responde tajante.
Mi ego no se da por vencido, y la noche continua… pero ese es otro cuento.

I like the idea of offering a self service buffet. The tapas are awesome, atmosphere is great. I really like this place!

Me gusta ir a Lizarran a tomar cañas y algunos montaditos a media tarda para soportar el hambre mejor hasta la hora de cenar ;)
Se ha convertido en una buena elección de afterwork a muy buen precio. Lo mejor es que los martes y jueves todos los pinchos van a un euro!!! Hay varios por toda Barcelona. El que suelo ir es el cercano a Sagrada Família y el cercano a Rambla Cataluña.

The heaven of gourmet tapas for 1,40(small) and 1,90(big) Euro?! Excuse me? Last night I did my 73 463 798 579 visit to this amazing place with my friend. We craved for small appetizer in the middle of the night and ”Lizarran is always a good idea” we said to each other. To my surprise, each tapas was 1 Euro. Was it cheaper because it was almost closing hour? Don’t ask me, I only eat. From Majorca Sausage With Cremette Cheese, Salad and Tuna Stuffed Red Pepper to Iberian Ham with Quail Egg, yummy yummy yummy yummy.
The Lizarran experience works differently from other tapas bars and very straight forward
1. Get up and take a plate from the bar.
2. Pick as much as you like from the wide range of COLD tapas. You can order your drink from the bar or the waiter will come and take the order. Whatever it suits you.
3. Go back to your seat and eat. (Oh yeah there will be a big party in your mouth)
4. Keep the skewers!!! This way they know how much to charge you.
For HOT tapas, watch the kitchen door. The waiter frequently comes out with a big tray of tapas to serve on the tables. I’ve been asked a lot of time by my friends if these tapas are free. unfortunately, they are not! Only freshly made but come on, the price is always great for this quality of the tapas. Isn’t it?

Un Lizarran más. En pleno Eixample, no es de los más grandes que hay, así que si es martes (pinchos a un eurito y cañas a 0,70 €) y afterwork, hay no cabe ni el tato!!!
Asi que mejor ponerse al lado de la cocina y cuando suene la campana de pincho nuevo… a por él, que si no vuelan! Los pinchos en si, tienen pintaca y estan bastante bien, lo malo es animarse e ir acumulando palillos, jeje.
Al mediodía hacen menu por 8,90 €, postre aparte por un € más, estoy un poco mosca, porque la fabada que pedí extrañamente sabía muy parecida a la del Litoral… quien sabe, a lo mejor es el mismo cocinero…
Es un buen lugar para ir con amigos y tomarse unas cañas mientras le damos al arte del palillo :)

Vale la pena venir aquí sobre todo los martes y los jueves, los pinchos todos están a 1 €!!!
Calidad de pinchos aceptables y sin grandes lujos. Pan crujiente que es lo que mola. Pero al loro!!! cuando suena la campana, lo mejor de lo mejor, pinchos calientes tipo chistorra, morcilla…
Ahh se me olvidaba, la caña tipo madrileña bien tirada a 0,70 €. ¿Que mas se puede pedir?
Este es el más céntrico que existe, aun que no dispone de terraza dentro se esta muy bien. Servicio correcto, pero a veces días de mucho es un poco caos.

No recomendable, estan lejos de ser un buen sitio de tapas… La verdad esperaba algo mucho mejor, eso si el precio es competitivo.

Muy correcto para ir a picar algo entre semana, los martes ofrecen pinchos a 1 € (los clásicos, otros llevan precio superior).
Está muy bien situado, el servicio es amable y eficiente, el tipo de público muy variopinto (turismo, gente del barrio, grupos de jóvenes tomando cerveza, etc)
En caso después se quiera ir a tomar algo, recomiendo dar una vuelta por Rambla Cataluña y escoger cualquier terraza y tomar ahí el café o copa!

Wahnsinnig tolle Atmosphäre und sehr nettes Personal. Die überaus leckeren pintchos Runden das Gesamtbild sehr gut ab. Alles in allem auf jeden fall einen Besuch Wert!!!

De restaurante vasco de pintxos tiene lo que yo de ucraniano. Para empezar son de catering, nada de hacerlos en el local, así que de originalidad cero. Que en Bilbao (o en cualquier pueblo) los pintxos se elaboran en el local y son distintos a los de el de al lado En fin, si la intención es lo que cuenta, ni tan mal.

Den ersten Lizarrán habe ich vor zwei Jahren in Sitges kennengelernt.
Auch wenn es letztendlich eine Kette ist, so war das Personal an beiden Tagen, an dem ich dort war, sehr freundlich.
Mehrfach wurden warme Pinchos am Tisch serviert und an beiden Tagen gab es ein verschiedenes Sortiment.
Wie es überhaupt funktioniert? Man nimmt sich einen Teller und wählt selber am Buffet, bzw. nimmt der Bedienung einen ab, den er regelmäßig durch das Restaurant trägt und anbietet. Das mit den Holzspießen wurde bereits erklärt. Hier gibt es drei Preiskategorien:
Die kurzen eckigen Spieße sind Pinchos für 1,20 EUR, die «Zahnstocher» für 1,50 EUR und als Bonus werden Pinchos mit einem großen dicken Holzspieß angeboten, der ist dann für 1,90 EUR zu haben.
Die Getränke bestellt man einfach bei Personal (Frisch gepresster Orangensaft, Rotwein oder auch Bier vom Fass), die sind bezahlbar.
Unter der Woche war der Lizarrán um ca. 20:00 relativ leer, am Freitag füllte er sich jedoch danach stetig.
Für eine Kleinigkeit nach einem anstrengenden Stadtbummel oder auch Abends sehr zu empfehlen. Natürlich kann man auch «a la carte» essen.

Unter den Restaurants, die wir an einem verlängerten Wochenende in Barcelona besucht haben, erwies sich Lizarrán unterwartet als großer Gewinner. Wir waren 2x dort.
Unerwartet weil der kleine Laden so unspektakulär daher kommt. Das Essen ist jedoch spektakulär, die junge Bedienung extrem zuvorkommend. Sie vermochte auch, uns nicht-​Spanisch-​sprechenden das Konzept des Restaurants zu erklären:
Bei Lizarràn dreht sich alles um Pinchos, die mit Tapas verwandt sind und am Tresen in einer offenen Vitrine präsentiert werden. Der Nachschub kommt ununterbrochen, alles ist also stets super frisch.
Am besten sind die warmen Pinchos, die die netten Kellner regelmäßig durch das Restaurant tragen und den Gästen anbieten. Selbst, wenn man nach dem x-​ten Pincho am abwinken ist — sie schaffen es immer, einem noch einen kleinen Snack schmackhaft zu machen.
Insgesamt absolut empfehlenswert — auch weil hier insbesondere die lokalen Einwohner hingehen und dem Etablissement so ein schönes, authentisches Flair verleihen.

Beim ersten Besuch dachte ich, es würde sich um eine kleine nette Tapasbar handeln. Doch handelt es sich um ein Franchise– Unternehmen und das Konzept scheint zu funktionieren. In dieser recht kleinen und urigen Lokalität gibt es vorzugsweise Tapas und Pinchos, die wirklich sehr lecker sind und man könnte Tonnen davon verputzen. Alles paar Minuten, je nach Bedarf, verkündet das Läuten einer Schiffsglocke, dass neue Tapas/​Pinchos im Anmarsch sind. Die kleinen Leckerein kommen in unterschiedlichsten Varianten darher. Dazu kann man Wein aus Wassergläsern trinken, der ebenfalls sehr lecker und süffig ist. Zwar gibts noch andere Speisen, die ich jedoch nicht probiert hab. Die Bezahlung ist sehr eigen und appelliert an die Ehrlichkeit der Gäste. Man sammelt die Zahnstocher, die in den Häppchen stecken, aus denen sich dann die Summe ergibt, die auf die Theke zu legen ist. Da die Bar recht klein ist, sind Platzprobleme zur Abendstunde obligatorisch. Zu zweit finde man meist einen Platz, sonst heißt es: «Essen im Stehen!»
