Makamaka

Makamaka is a nice beachy burger place near Barceloneta. They have some funky burger names and delicious drinks!
The whole restaurant has a party vibe and you can often hear people cheering and laughing. The outdoor sitting area is quite cute and reminds me of Hawaii. :)

Esto no es Barcelona, es la ONU. Habré detectado un máximo de 3 locals en las 6 – 7 veces que he estado comiendo o tomando algo por aquí. La situación, al lado de la playa, es bestial, y la terraza, con esas sillas y mesas de tamaños y colores imposibles, es un reclamo irresistible para los turistas. Los precios son elevados, incluso muy elevados, pero las hamburguesas y las patatas están buenas (preguntad por la burger del mes, que siempre mola). Hay opciones para vegetarianos que ya no molan tanto, ah, y los cocteles/​bebidas los encuentro muy caros y pché-​pché. Ideal para traer a tus amigos guiris que vienen a visitarte con ganas de jarana.

My favorite restaurant near the beach. By far one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. They have great drinks and friendly staff. Love this place!

Super hipper Burgerladen in Strandnähe. Hier kann es schon mal etwas dauern bis man einen Platz bekommt, aber das Warten lohnt sich. Entscheidung bzgl Burger ist nicht leicht, da alles gut klingt und auch aussieht. Hatten den Topless, Maradona und Pommes mit Parmesan und Kräuter. Burgerpatties waren perfekt gebraten, Brötchen und Belag waren ebenfalls top und die Pommes perfekt frittiert. Absolut zu empfehlen.

both meat and veggie burgers are very flavourful and the fries are incredibly good! it is a cool place with really nice staff. would definitely recommend maka maka but don’t eat inside because you won’t hear a word due to the loud music.

Tuvimos la suerte de encontrar mesas libres un lunes a las 20−21h. Este local tiene un éxito arrollador de extranjeros en la Barceloneta, y con razón, los guiris no son tan tontos.
Sirven de las mejores patatas fritas de la ciudad, creedme; hamburguesas super sabrosas y bien ejecutadas, sin necesidad de hacer una «torre de pisa» con ellas; ensaladas llenas de color y deliciosas… También tienen variada carta de bebidas y cócteles, incluso vinos bastante correctos.
La decoración es original, playera e informal. Se está de lujo en la terraza. Cómo siempre están a tope, tardan un poco en atenderte, pero siempre de forma agradable y servicial.
El precio es moderado. Se paga tanto calidad como popularidad. Salimos a unos 15 € por cabeza pidiendo una burger, patatas fritas, ensalada, birra y vino. Con el estómago bien satisfecho, las raciones también son generosas.

If you’re in the mood for a burger or salad I highly recommend this place. Service is friendly and fast. Food is great. I ordered the Jamaican chicken salad — it comes with dark meat chicken which is the most tender chicken I’ve ever tasted. Combine that with the avocado, kalamata olives and dressing makes this salad one of the best I’ve ever tasted. My friend order the «dude» burger and said it was great as well. We shared an order of their garlic /​parmesan fries — yum! I want to go back. The wait staff is very attentive.

Buen sitio para comer cerca de la playa, El ambiente está muy bien, los camareros son muy simpáticos, y la comida riquísima, para mi lo mejor los postres! Tienen comida vegetariana que siempre es un punto extra! Buen sitio para ir con los amigos y pasar un buen rato! Lo recomiendo 100%.

Wenn man in Barcelona mal keine Lust auf Tapas hat, kann man hier sehr gut Burger essen gehen oder Cocktails trinken. Der Wein war leider nicht ganz so super und die Location sieht zwar sehr nett aus, allerdings an der Straße und nicht direkt am Strand dann doch nicht so der entspannte Ort, wie erhofft. Aber ist in jedem Fall immer gut was los und als Treffpunkt für junge Leute ganz cool und die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam und nett.

parm fries to die for. The salads are also so refreshing. They have a cool drink menu they are all delicious. Its so refreshing to be by the beach here. Service is wonderful as well.

Great place. Real surf shack feel (the toilets are a beach hut)!
Menu is limited in size with salads and burgers dominating but don’t let that put you off. Food was good.
Large drinks list and local cava was a steal!

10min walk from nearest metro and getting taxis, whilst there are plenty can be a lottery after midnight.

El local lleno a reventar y con impresion de desorganizado y mal gestionado, pero bueno, una vez sentadoa a cenar unos 20 minutos hasta que nos piden que queremos.
Tras esto la bebida ha llegado relativamente rapido cosa que es de agradecer, y la comida, creiamos que estando el local lleno iba a tardar mas, los plazos para servir, sin ser rapidos, tampoco lentos.
Las patatas muy buenas, la hamburguesa tambien, y la ensalda tambien. Casi acabando el plato mi novia recuerda que era de pollo y aguacate, y que no habia visto ni un trozo, buscando hemos encontrado 1 (el de la foto)… Cuando hemos acabado la camarera ha preguntado que tal habia estado, cortesmente se le ha respuesto que estaba buena, pero que solo habia 1 misero trocito de pollo… Y su respuesta ha sido «ostras, me pasas esa Cocacola» (estaba recogiendo la mesa y no alcanzaba) creo que por cortesia podrian haber tenido algun detalle, pequeño descuento, una atencion, pero decir «ostras» desde luego no es la respuesta si luego no piensas hacer algo…
En fin, decepcionante, pese a que la comida no era para nada mala, no creo que vuelva por como se comportan, si fuera mi restaurante hubiera tomado en consideracion un comentario asi y no pasarlo por alto como han hecho…

This place is hopping with twenty something’s. It’s a boisterous crowd, mostly seated outdoors so come when the weather is nice. Burger Bar best describes this place. Burger was good but not great. Cooked only one way — they don’t ask how you want it. Fries are OK. Limited beer selection. But overall a fun place with a good vibe.

Makamaka is all hype, no good food. I will say I enjoy seeing the wooden forks, knives and spoons that you can write on and tack on to the wall for generations to come! We are from San Francisco so we wrote on a spoon and are hoping that it stays there for many years! I asked for a chicken sandwich while my guy had the Makamaka burger. He was thrilled with his burger, but my sandwich was a chicken THIGH. Gross! I asked the waitress who was nice, but stressed, if they had chicken breast. She didn’t understand me. She brought over the manager guy who spoke better English and he said to her «she doesn’t want this (and pointed to her thigh), she wants this (and pointed to her boob!). Very funny story and this WOULD NOT go over in the US very well, but I thought it was funny. She said oh, we don’t have that like it didn’t bother her at all what he did/​said. Funny! I sent the sandwich back and ate nothing because I don’t eat beef or pork and they only had chicken thighs. My guy finished his burger and we scrammed. I found a good place down the street with food that I could eat. Boisterous crowd there though and a fun atmosphere, but this is the epitome of «Meh, I’ve experienced better».

This place is located next to the beach and easy to spot with their huge terrace and swarms of teen customers. We ordered their famous garlic parmesan fries to try but the waitress gave us the normal ones and we didn’t have the heart to tell her she got the order wrong. The burger I ordered was okay but not super tasty and there was no sauce which is key to a good, juicy burger. The chili cocktail I ordered was good but awfully small for the price. All in all, a decent place that seems overhyped to me.

If you like a classic beachy/​burger restaurant this is your place. Prices are eh but the food is worth it. The garlic parmesan fries are on point.

6 friends and I dropped in for a goodbye dinner.
The goods: Garlic fries!!! Burgers were also very delicious! Portion was perfect, not on the huge side, but perfect nonetheless. The couscous salad was a little bland after a while, but they gave a good amount. Everything was well-​priced, I think.
The ambiance: Very hip and busy. Has the beach atmosphere that I’m used to in California.
The service: The girl was prompt, and I was very impressed she took all our orders without jotting down a word. She was friendly and cool.
I would definitely come back to try the other burgers and for the garlic fries.

This will probably be my favorite bar in the world for quite some time to come. Whether you love burgers, beer, salads or just an amazingly well prepared drink, this is your place! Best beach vibe, the coolest staff in town and a bar that will make your cocktail-​loving mouth water. Come here as often as you can, as long as you live. 5 Stars and my heart forever.

Excellent Burger Joint right next to the Barceloneta Beach ! Very Large portions and the fries were very tasty as well. We had a pitcher of Heineken Beer and we were ready to walk for miles and miles. Prices are fair and the ambiance is very casual. I would definitely be back !

Quand on voit ce restaurant bar la première fois on a tout de suite envie d’y rentrer. Décoration très sympa. On peut y aller pour l’apéro apres la plage ou apres minuit car il ferme assez tard. Il y a une très bonne ambiance le jeudi soir en mode quiz sympa en espagnol et en anglais. Les burgers sont moyens mais abordable niveau prix. Seul hic je n’ai pas aimé mon vin rouge. Impossible de le boire. Je le conseille pour un groupe d’amis qui a envie de faire la fête et qui né cherche pas un endroit calme.

I had one of the best burgers here! Grilled to perfection, nice and juicy with awesome toppings. The garlic cheese fries were amazing! So rich in flavor. Staff is very nice!

Came here this afternoon upon exploring the beach scene. This place is awesome! Plenty of outside seating, friendly staff and delicious food. We had been traveling in Spain for days and were craving some salad and healthy bites after all the croquettes and fried food. My friend and I split the Caribbean salad and veggie burger and both were amazing. They also have a great drink menu. We tried the Flower Power and it was great! Definitely recommend.

Un choix de burgers original chez MakaMaka, un emplacement à proximité de la plage sur une rue large et fréquentée, une déco sympa style «Surfing».
Les tables et les chaises dehors sont un peu collantes, le service est jeune, plus ou moins efficace.

I would have gave 5 stars but we went today to order our usual chicken burger and surprisingly they changed its receipt… also the fries were not as good as usual and the service not really friendly. We can clearly feel that they can’t follow the rythme during summer pick and have to lower the overall quality.
I will try again after september and give them one more chance because i usually love this place

Certes ils servent des burgers chez MakaMaka, rien d’exceptionnel me direz-​vous. On né vient pas à Barcelone pour manger des burgers.
Certes, mais l’ambiance est super sympa après une virée à la plage né serait-​ce que pour grignoter et boire l’apéro. Sangria classique ou di cava à flot. Je vote pour !

Mola el ambiente y la zona pero el menú es bastante limitado.

Makamaka, es un restaurante que está en muy buena situación, como quien dice a pie de playa de la Barceloneta. Me encanta como está decorado (muy veraniego) y el trato es muy bueno. Tienen variedad de hamburguesas (cambinaciones que salen de lo normal). Lo que más me gustó fueron las patatas fritas que ponen de acompañamiento con su salsita (tomate, mahonesa y un toque de wasabi). Ambiente, situación, hamburguesas, decoración todo genial! pero le doy sólo 3 estrellas porque lo encontré realmente caro, quizás yo coma mucho! pero las hamburguesas no son muy generosas que digamos, tuve que comerme dos! Ahora el próximo día iré para probar sus cocteles. BUEN VERANO! ;-)

My boyfriend and I went on holiday in Barcelona and accidentally stumbled upon this gem. What a lucky find! Makamaka combines the charm of a local diner with the vibe of of a beach party. I ordered the lamb burger & chips, and really enjoyed both. My boyfriend and I also split a pitcher of sangria. It had so much fresh fruit in it, I’m quite sure I got my 5-​a-​day!
An interesting quirk in the restaurant were the bathrooms, which are located in a shed. How they brought the shed *indoors* is beyond me, but the toilets were actually really clean… despite being a structure meant to store junk lol.
The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and kept the post-​dinner pints flowing. One of my favorite parts of the restaurant was the wall of wooden forks covered in messages from past patrons. If you see one that says Molly (hearts) Dave, that’s mine :)

En una semana hice las tres cosas, siempre hay gente diferente, las camareras son súper atentas y simpáticas, y los tragos son increíbles. Una sorpresa la variedad de hamburguesas, no sólo sus sabores e ingredientes, sino también sus nombres. Una fija de Barceloneta.

Ein wirklich toller Burgerladen. Hübsche spanische und italienische Bedienungen, die dazu noch sehr freundlich sind. Der Laden ist sehr nah am Strand und man kann draußen in der Sonne sitzen, und mit Strandlatschen ankommen.
Die Burger waren richtig gut, auch die selbst gemachten Pommes Frites und das ganze für Barcelona verschmerzbare Preise. Einfach Klasse!

I was lucky enough to get to attend the opening party of Makamaka… and they threw a hell of a beach party.
The fries! I loved the fries! served with a tangy cross between a bbq sauce and a cocktail sauce — just the right amount of salt… i was almost stalking the servers with the trays of fries. I would go there just for the fries.
But that’s not all we sampled… for the party, they had these little burger sliders and i was told they had chicken sliders as well. Deeee-​lish!
The staff was friendly, the place was casual, the outdoor area is nicely decorated… I’ll definitely return and write an update.
How did we get the invite? some friends had been coming here every day for a week prior to the party — they loved it that much — so they got the invite… they were already hooked.
