Mamacafé

This is a really solid option for dinner if you are visiting Barcelona. Very friendly waitstaff with a few candlelit tables. The menu is in Spanish and English. The food is tasty but nothing that will blow your mind. The atmosphere is nice with music playing in the background and funny paintings of mothers on the wall.
The fixed price menu is a good value at € 15,20 per person. The Cava was extra but a nice treat. :)

Yummy fixed price dinner with a glass of wine included. Appetizers were great, veal burger and eggs & steak were wonderful. Attentive service.

Hace un par de años mi pareja y yo descubrimos este sitio por casualidad buscando un sitio donde cenar, vimos el menú y decidimos entrar. Quedamos encantados, no recuerdo que comimos, pero los guardamos la tarjeta para volver.
Tras este tiempo pensando en acercarnos ayer decidimos cenar allí y tal y como recordábamos, salimos muy contentos.
Sitio acogedor, pero con bastantes mesas, tienen colgadas pinturas y lucecitas que dan un toque muy bonito. La cocina esta en medio del local con una cristalera donde si te acercas se ve lo que están cocinando.
El menú un viernes noche sale a 15.20 € bebidas no incluidas. No es tirado de precio pero es un sitio céntrico y donde se come bien, así que vale la pena. El estilo de comida está orientado a vegetarianos (en el menú señalan varios platos vegetarianos), pero también hay carnes y pescados.
Cenamos raviolis de brie y cebolla caramelizada con salsa de tomate y parpadelle al huevo con salsa gorgonzola de primero. De segundo un milhojas de verduras y una hamburguesa casera en forma de bomba con una salsa y unas patatas deliciosas (ver fotos). Y de postre tiramisú y trufas artesanas de distintos sabores.
Lo recomiendo, se come bien y en un ambiente tranquilo.
Pegas (por decir algo): creo haber visto a dos camareras indias, también había uno catalán. A nosotros nos atendió una de ellas y no sé si es que no sabía bien castellano o qué. Pero hablaba bajo, era seria (sin ser antipática), pero no dio mal servicio. Hablando de servicio, los baños no son algo que admirar (yo me fijo mucho en ellos, creo que muchos restaurantes se olvidan de adecentarlos), pero están limpios.

On our first day in Barcelona for lunch.. I had broccoli and green beans for my first course. I had a garbanzo soup for my second course. Both very good. We also of course had wine and bread and I had coffee and my husband had dessert for the final course. We will go there again

I remember being in a very bad mood during my dinner at Mamacafé, and suffice is to say that it is hard to recall many of the details of our particular experience. What I do remember is that throughout the entire ordeal the two or three staff members that dealt with us were nothing short of professional and courteous, and did everything they could to turn our evening around. That, right there, is enough to score bonus points. Restaurateurs, take note.
For starters, we had beef carpaccio and pumpkin soup. The carpaccio was a little overdressed but hardly anything to complain about (at least there was no aioli on it — god, I hate that shit and how trendy it’s become) and the soup had appropriate depth and balance without being too obtrusive nor filling. For entrees, we ordered the duck confit and rape special. The duck, was your standard, mouth watering delicacy we’ve all come to know and love, and tasted fantastic. The rape, that was not my first choice (the veg lasagna sold out already), was pleasantly done with no distracting seasoning or accoutrements that often take away from the subtle flavor of a white-​fleshed fish.
As previously mentioned, due to the relative mood (s) of these two patrons, we hastily finished our meals, taking home some leftovers and upon next day’s lunch found that they had secretly given us dessert to go (gratis)! I couldn’t have been more delighted, and in so doing all that they could do to have positively affected my happiness in a moment of need, resulted in that they will have forever forged a relationship, between a modest restaurant and a hungry but now loyal costumer.

Menú sábado al mediodía espectacular. Por sólo 11.50 €.
Carta de cuatro primeros y cuatro segundos, la mitad vegetarianos.
El servicio excelente !

Me gusta el local, me gusta la decoración, el ambiente, la comida, el servicio y los precios. Un local recomendable en el Raval de Barcelona.

I have a friend who lived in Barcelona 5 years ago. She forwarded me an equally as old email she had sent to a friend of hers with a list of things in Barcelona with the caveat «I’m not sure if any of this is still applicable, open, or around». Somewhere in the 4 pages was Mamacafé in one line saying it’s a nice dinner spot.
One evening after a long day of touring, I came here for dinner with my mother and sister… dinner rush is about at 10 pm, so we came by at 9:30. Happy to discover it was still there and open, we looked at the menu out front wondering if should we eat here or not. A friendly waiter came out and invited us in, so we went in.
I wouldn’t say their English was good, but it was better than our Catalan or Spanish for sure and they were super friendly. The skinny here is 15,20 € gets you a dinner of a starter, meal, and dessert or coffee. Scanning the whole menu, I realized this is essentially a «Contemporary Cuisine» place that you could find around the San Francisco Mission. But, unlike SF, there were so many interesting things on the menu: handmade crunchy ravioli with brie, buffalo mozzarella salad, veal burger (really just a burger on a salad with no bun), sea bass seamed in paper with veggies. Between the three of us, we had a fair sampling of it all.
The thing to note here is, it was all incredibly fresh and hand made (even the ravioli seemed to be just made) and delicious. Couple that with a chill vibe different from the bustle of the plurality of tapas joints around the city and I got to say, Mamacafé was one of my favorite meals in Barcelona.

Me ha encantado descubrir el MamaCafé !!! Ambiante símpatico con unos jovenes dinamicos. Proponen menus muy barratos, pero muy bien pensados.
me acuerdo aún de un arroz negro con una bola de aïoli: perfecto !! Además estaba todo muy bien presentado, y me gustó el contraste del negro de la sepia con el blanco del aïoli.
Esta super bien situado, cerca de las Ramblas, pero en un barrio menos turístico y mas barcelonès !!!

Comencé a ir al MamaCafé porque trabajaba una amiga. Había pasado por delante varias veces pero nunca había entrado. Maaaal! debería haber entrado antes…
No es que sea el mejor restaurante de la ciudad, pero tanto la comida como el ambiente es muy bueno.
Al mediodía puedes elegir dos tipos de menús (de 13h. a 16h.), el normal y el express, que es igual que el primero pero eligiendo solo un plato del menú (esta es una buena opción si eres de poco comer, aunque solo te ahorras 1,5 euros).
Por la noche también tienen, además de la carta, opción menú por unos 15 euros.
Así que buena comida a buenos precios, y con una atención bastante buena. Si estás por el Raval y tienes hambre… MamaCafé es una opción.

El Mamá Café es un buen lugar para comer el plato del día en la zona del Raval, tanto si vas al mediodía como si prefieres visitarlo por la noche (de miércoles a sábado). También se puede comer a la carta aunque no hay mucha variedad. La opción más recomendable es el menú (entre 15 y 19 euros.)
La base de su cocina es mediterránea con productos frescos comprados en el cercano mercado de la Boquería. Entre sus platos siempre hay un par de opciones para los vegetarianos. El lugar es aunque un tanto oscuro bastante amplio ya que aprovecha los espacios de lo que antiguamente era una galería de arte.
Las últimas veces que he comido aquí me he decantado por una de sus especialidades como plato único: la hamburguesa de ternera con queso cheddar, cebolla confitada y patatas bravas (9, 20 euros) acompañada de un par de cervezas.
Los fines de semana es complicado encontrar mesa si no se va con tiempo. No importa, te apuntas y el tiempo que tienes que esperar (puede se de más de una hora) lo aprovechas para tomar unas cañas en una de las muchas terrazas que hay en la zona. Merece la pena.

Este restaurante de fusión es un lugar ideal para descansar tras una visita al Macba. La decoración colorista, la música animada y una carta fresca, sana y bien cocinada son suficientes para levantar el ánimo hasta en un día de lluvia. Los cocineros del local se abastecen en la Boquería de productos frescos de temporada con los que componen un menú apto también para vegetarianos. Los precios no son demasiado elevados y los menús de mediodía suelen contentar a todos los bolsillos. Además, muchos vecinos del barrio acuden aquí a comer, por lo que el sitio es un bueno para alternar con ellos.
Los lunes y martes cierran por la noche.

Pour respurer la santé, c’est ici qu’il faut mangé, idéalement situé entre le Macba (Musé d’art contemporain de Barcelone et la Plaza Catalunya). On peut bien déjeuner pour… 9 euros. Quand on pense qu’en plus tout est frais…
