We were staying a few blocks away and were having a seriously hard time finding a spot to eat at that wasn’t part of the mall. Thus, we ended up at Mikala Barcelona. Super cute exterior and a matching interior as well, we were drawn here(mostly because it was open but also because of its eye appeal!). Looking at it now, it appears there is only a Facebook page and it was opened in late November, so my guess is the location hasn’t been around long. Unfortunately my Spanish isn’t fluent enough to hold a conversation with the server. Though I could order and ask for recommendations, we couldn’t hold too much small talk. I didn’t see hours posted, but based on the fact that no one else was there, we got the feeling that it was close to closing time. Our server was incredible. He tried to entertain even through a different language. He was personable, made great recommendations and genuinely seemed to be pleased with his job. We ordered a variety of dishes, thinking they would be smaller tapas-style dishes, but they were all plentiful on the portion size! Hard to choose a star of the show, but we loved the chicken, apple and lettuce salad with vinaigrette; it was light and perfect. The provolone/bacon fundido was greasy, unhealthy and totally tasty and the veggie pizza was packed full of veggies with a great flavor. The patatas bravas were more fried than I’d had in the past and only had a light amount of hot sauce on the top. We also split a bottle of pink merlot(complete with a pink cork!) which was a-ok. Our total bill, including a bottle of wine between two and enough leftovers for a second meal, resulting in 37 euro. Great price, service and food quality!
