Obama

It’s a strange bar. Mostly pictures of African people not related to Obama. I ordered the steak fajitas which were pretty good. My boyfriend order the pizza which was not good at all. Tasted like frozen pizza sprinkled with fresh herbs on top. I would probably come back and eat the fajitas again.

We had lunch here the other day. Burgers were very salty and cheese sticks looked like they were from the freezer aisle. Overpriced for mediocre food. Also, my history teacher friends and I were a little uncomfortable with the décor. It looked like it celebrated the imperialist age. South African stuff everywhere. We couldn’t tell if it was a racist place with an ironic name or if it was just ignorant to the terror of imperialism. I actually thought about asking the owner but wimped out at the end. I probably won’t be back unless my American visitors who are Obama fans like me insist.

Great full English Breakfast and a range of English beers including Heineken and Guiness. The menu also offers American as well as British meals. A little more pricey than other local bars and restaurants but we’ll worth a visit.

The night I came here they had an amazing live band that was soooo good. It was awesome Spanish music that lasted all night. They had a very wide variety of drinks I truly enjoyed my Mai Tai which was garnished with so much fruit. I also ordered a fantastic shrimp & rice dish that was served on a huge iron plate! Such a cool spot. Thanks for the great memories! :))

The only plus is the live music. The food is crap the service is awful. There was a time when it was good but its gone downhill. Don’t bother.

Well how about this beautiful girl trying to fuck with my boyfriend what… well as you know Barcelona Spain Cataluya is very well known as prostitution. except for this one she wasn’t and look like one… We met a girl one day before go outside than next day we decided to go out for dinner and some drinks why we just started to talk about food, countries, music religion’s and of course sex at the end bar almost closing we going back to Our Hotel she offer have you guys try sex in group come on what? No? boring? I never had she said I will love it to try first time with you guys she said. We just stay in quiet and laughed are you serious she said yes we both said thank you you are beautiful but in this we are very private and traditional we love each other we respect each other. Not anything except for this. We keep drinking they close we go separate ways. I forgot to mention she was a Model for Very expensive and prestigious clothing company.
This type of experience money doesn’t paid for them.

Really good live music, decent drinks, and a fun, eccentric atmosphere… my only advice is to not come here as a place to pregame before clubbing, because something about the atmosphere sucks you in for hours. You’ll mean to leave at 1 and end up leaving at 3:30.

I love this place the food and drinks were awesome. The staff excellent, I would recommend this place to friends and family.

Across the street from our hotel so we gave it a try but the food was merely average. A lot of the restaurants on Las Ramblas are mediocre so put a little effort into supporting the good ones.

Der Name sagt schon alles… Eigentlich cool eingerichtet, sehr authentisches Restaurant (eher Kneipe-​Bar). Erstens haben Sie die Speisrn, die auf der Karte stehen nicht (kein Fisch!!!), dann haben wir Anjovis bestellt, kam eine getoastete Scheibe Brot mit 5 Anjovis slice darauf für satte 15.90 €!!! (s. Foto). Die Potatos waren eigentlich gut, aber die «spicy» Sauce kam aus einer Tube, und hat scheusslich geschmeckt. Die Pilze waren gut. Bedienung war nett aber uninteressiert. Nie mehr! Absolut nicht zu empfehlen!

Eclectic as all bejeezus, but the waitstaff were perfection, the food was better than expected, the beer selection was adequate and we had a great time! The place made me laugh with its outrageous but well curated décor. It grows on you!
Have a beer here while you wait on Ciudad next door. You might come back for more.

Um. No. Too American, confusing, tourist trap. It’s Africa and England themed and there’s an Obama statue outside. Enough said.

Just visited this place. Almost passed it up when the guy at the door tried to sell us on the 3 drink special. Hey dude, I just want a beer. Well, we went in anyways, and the place is African themed, with lots of old B&W photos from the Dark Continent, and a British Empire sort of feel. Well, the musician singing and playing guitar was superb. He played a rendition of Bob Marley’s Redemption Song that seriously made me tear up. So awesome. Hey, to the other patrons — apologies for being the slightly noisy, over zealous Americans in the bar. And thanks for being patient with us. Next time I visit Barcelona, I will definitely come back to this place. Memories!

Interesting late-​night bar that I stumbled upon after getting to the Plaza de Catalayuna on a late night layover in Barcelona. There were two people outside (employees of the restaurant) who were soliciting people to come in. Besides the live music, which was actually quite good, the food and drinks were mediocre and somewhat high price from what I can recall. There are much better late-​night places to be had from the area, and caddy corner from this bar there is an excellent late-​night tapas place that is recommended by many locals.

we arrived in Barcelona well after midnight, my limited spanish failing me, my rumbling gut refusing to push my feet any further, and a passerby’s vague rememberance of a sandwich shop 8 blocks away was not inspiring confidence. then some drunk chick on the street urged us to come inside the chandelier-​swinging harem of Obama. Inside I saw a man curled up in the lap of a presidential mannequin, a cover band blasting through American punk and rock singles in Spanish, and a bunch of colonialistic photographs, camouflage, firearms and taxidermy projects on the walls that would pass for a recreation of Rudyard Kipling’s writing room. The food wasn’t very good but i didn’t care a lick. fucking insanity

Un gran surtido de cervezas, buen ruso blanco y una ambientación original!

We were walking by trying to decide where to go and were lured in by a guy promising a free shooter (yep, we’re weak).
This place has the strangest décor I’ve ever seen. A throwback to the British Empire in India with a life-​size figure of US President Obama thrown in for diversity. (??) For a British-​style pub their selection of beers on tap was bland. I know we’re spoiled in Vancouver though so my standards are high.
The place filled up with the most obnoxious, loud tourist off their cruise ship and we needed to get the heck out of Dodge! Of course our free shooter hadn’t arrived nor did it look like it would. As we left I commented to the promiser of said shooter so he dragged us back in for some horrific concoction. Whatevs.
There’s so much ‘awesome’ in Barcelona but this ain’t it.

Hay infinidad de cervezas, el local es grande, cómodo, de decoración algo abigarrada, rollo colonial, recordando épocas pretéritas, cuando la commonwealth tenía mucho peso específico…
Por cierto: siendo como es un pub inglés, si alguien sabe por qué se llama «Obama» que me lo explique

Ya llevaba unos cuantos meses sin pareja. Estaba entrando en esa etapa en la que uno comienza a salir de su guarida y toma cartas en el asunto. «Si la montaña no viene a mahoma…» La noche anterior había conocido a una chica en una fiesta, la cosa se veía bien, podría llegar a tener alguna oportunidad. Antes de irme me dijo que la noche siguiente un compañero de piso suyo cantaría en el Obama.
Llamé a mi «Wing man» y fuimos para allá. Me sorprendí al ver que se trataba de un bar que yo defino: Ingles imperialista. Ya que está abultadamente adornado con fotos, mapas y objetos varios de la África colonizada por la corona británica. Por lo demás es el típico pub inglés. Con la cocina abierta hasta el cierre a las 03:00, y la correspondiente colección exhaustiva de cervezas mundiales.
Cuando llegamos el chico ya estaba cantando, eran sólo él y su guitarra. Y tomamos asiento en la mesa con la chica y un par de amigos suyos. Comenzamos a pedir cervezas, la atención era buena y rápida. Pero ella estaba como hipnotizada por este payaso cantor con aires de Bön Jovi.
Al final me fui justo luego de que terminara de cantar. Obviamente aún me faltaba un largo recorrido para «volver a las pistas».

Solo con entrar por la puerta ya te quedas alucinado por lo grande que es el bar y por la decoración: las paredes están repletas de fotografías y objetos de la África colonial, decorando cada rincón de la pared, incluyendo el techo. El local es muy grande y está dividido en diferentes partes. En una incluso tienen sofás donde echarte tranquilo con la cerveza que elijas, porque tienen de todas partes del mundo. La decoración está cuidadísima.
Suelen retransmitir los mejores eventos deportivos, y con todas las televisiones que hay, incluso puedes pedir que pongan el partido que quieres ver. Además, hacen conciertos en vivo todos los días a las doce de la noche.
Eso si, los precios son un poco caros: unas bravas te cuestan unos 4 euros, y una pizza alrededor de 10 euros. Pero para ocasiones especiales creo que merece la pena, solo por estar en ese entorno tan maravilloso.

Bastante bien. Es una coctelería llamemosla pija pero que la verdad es que hace buenas bebidas. Situada en el centro es algo cara pero la verdad es que hay veces que te apetece ir a un sitio así. Ponen musica en directo, lo que es un aliciente más y justifica el precio un poco

Bin normal kein Party Typ usw und zu feiern hatten wir auch nichts, da der VfB Stuttgart verloren hatte… Aber da war dann alles vergessen…
Die Preise waren nicht ganz billig. Allerdings waren auch nur gepflegte normale Leute drin und das war gut so…

Das Obama ist ein Irish Pub und nennt sich British Africa. Stilvoll eingerichtet mit schweren Ledersesseln, aufwändigen Wanddekorationen und natürlich etlichen Sorten Bier.
Ein freies WLAN ist zu kriegen, jedoch wird scheitert das Sparen an anderer Stelle: zwei gezapfte Gläser bier schlugen bei mir mit 11,50 Euro zu Buche
