Petit Pau

Genial! Hacía mucho tiempo que quería ir pero, entre que el local es superpequeño (únicamente caben 16 comensales) y que sólo abren las noches de martes a sábado, no había manera de conseguir mesa. Llamando con 2 meses de antelación por fin conseguí mesa y la experiencia no me decepcionó.
Nos atendió Pau de manera exquisita, ofreciéndonos una copa de cava de bienvenida, y explicándonos al detalle la elaboración de cada uno de los platos (la carta es corta: 6 entrantes y 6 segundos –3 pescados y 3 carnes-​). Todos los platos estaban buenos pero si tuviera que resaltar alguno sin duda sería el huevo escalfado con brandada de bacalao y alcachofas: impresionante! Para finalizar, Pau nos acercó el carro de postres con 3 tipos de pasteles individuales (strudel de manzana, chocolate y cheese cake) y surtido de quesos. Cómo me gustan los carros de postres, me los comería todos! Probé tanto el strudel como el pastel de chocolate y estaban francamente buenos los dos.
Únicamente disponen de dos vinos (un negro y un blanco) y un cava, a 15 € cada botella, pero también hay la posibilidad de beberlos por copas.
En relación al proceso de reservas, comentar que sólo reservan con 8 semanas de antelación, que no aceptan mesas de más de 4 comensales (cosa que entiendes cuando ves el tamaño del local) y que sólo reservan para el primer turno (de 20h a 21:30h). Por lo que si no quieres esperar semanas para conseguir mesa, una opción interesante es probar de pasarte un día a partir de las 22:30h, hora a la que empiezan a quedar mesas libres, y cruzar los dedos para que no haya mucha gente que haya tenido la misma idea que tu. La noche que yo fui, entraron 3 parejas entre las 22:30h y las 23h con este sistema.
No es un restaurante económico (precio medio de unos 45 €), pero considero que la relación calidad-​precio es bastante correcta. Sin duda, es un sitio para recomendar.

Año y medio después he vuelto al Petit Pau y sólo diré una palabra: INSUPERABLE. Nos había sido imposible volver porque están siempre llenos. Sólo tienen ocho o nueve mesas y tenías que reservar con mucha antelación. Ahora han cambiado un poco las cosas, sólo reservan con ocho semanas de antelación pero, también, puedes ir a partir de las 22:30 y, si tienen mesa, a disfrutar. Pau encantador. Noté los precios un poquito más caros pero es que vale la pena. Entrante (no recuerdo el nombre pero sí ingredientes): huevo, con patatas, cecina y trompetas de la muerte. Buenísimo. Dos platos principales: atún con acelgas y remolacha y cordero confitado. Morimos de placer. Dos postres: strudel con crema de vainilla y pastel de queso. Deliciosos. Una botella de vino blanco de la tierra. Todo 78 €. Pero lo vale. Y repetiremos. Por el trato, la calidez del sitio, los vinos, los platos, la copa de cava de bienvenida y por todo el conjunto que hace que sea un restaurante 10.

Cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant! Started off greeted by the owner with complementary glass of cava. He then walks through the menu explaining each and every dish. The atmosphere is cozy, service is superb and food is incredible. The eggplant appetizer is bursting with flavor. The lamb main dish is one of the best I’ve had. A little out of the way but absolutely worth the trip. Make a reservation ahead of time (they seem to book up rather quickly)… You must go while in Barcelona, would not miss it!

Excellent restaurant. I loved the octopus dish. The owners were great. They explained everything clearly in the menus. Very clean and quiet place. Would love to go back there one day

This place was recommended, and we walked in without a reservation – and lucked out. Or, as the owner put it, «had a flower in our bottom». We did, indeed, as this tiny place has but five tables and apparently books months in advance. Someone had cancelled, however, and we got in.
Best meal of our entire trip. The owner spoke perfect English (and French!), explained everything on the menu, and everything we ordered was fantastic – from the cava right to the dessert. The prices were reasonable, too — I was expecting luxury prices, but the meal for two (with appetizers, dessert, and a bottle of cava in addition to the main course) cost us about 80 €. My advice? If you’re planning a trip to Barcelona, make a reservation well in advance. You won’t regret it.

Que decir del petit pau mas que genial!!! De entrantes Comimos el foie en pan brioche con pera, la ensalada de pulpo con pepinillos y vinagrieta griega, los huevos con papa y trufa y las berenjenas con miel. Luego el Magret de pato, el solomillo y la corvina. Fuimos entre tres y salimos rodando. Realmente Pau nos atendió genial, llegamos un poco temprano y se tomo 15 minutos para explicarnos el menú y no defraudo en absoluto la comida. Vayan, no se lo pierdan! Reserven con mucha anticipación, creo que tienen un mes y medio de espera.

This was by far the most INCREDIBLE dining experience of my life. The service and food were SPECTACULAR.

I would never recommend this restaurant anyone. The vibe is bad, the owner is rude and the service sucks.

En la carta todo está bueno y el disfrute es en un espacio de 16 comensales. Los platos se basan en ingredientes de primera calidad y las recetas tienen esa base de las de toda la vida, pero revisitadas sin perder la esencia.
Los vinos? Fácil Sólo hay 3 a 10 € más 3 «privados» a 50 €. También cambian con frecuencia.
En definitiva el sitio es como una perla: escondido y valioso.

This place stands out for its service. The food is incredible (see other reviews) at the price point Expect (35 – 40 Eur per person), and I have placed it very close behind Somodo (Barcelona) the king in my quality to price ratio ranking. The unbelievable thing about El Petit Pau is that on top of a wonderful meal you get incredible service, something often overlooked in Spain. The cuisine is textbook local, so it it is a very good choice for foreigners wanting to get a top notch taste of Catalan food without breaking the bank. They take reservations only and expect a month wait for weekend dining, 2 weeks for weekdays, and one week for weekday lunch. 6 pax max, but preferred 2 – 4.

I have never left a 5 star review before, but I would leave 6 stars if they let me. From the service to the small space to the food – everything was incredible. Top 3 meals of my life. I highly recommend Petit Pau. Call ahead though, there are only 6 tables. SO good!

Fantastic place! My husband and I recently visited Barcelona and received this recommendation from a friend. The place is intimate (only 6 tables, make sure to have reservation early in advance) but the atmosphere was very inviting. We were greeted with a glass of cava. I had the foie gras to start and my husband had the rice dish with lobster, for dinner I had the fish and my husband had the steak. The house red wine was a steal for € 10 a bottle. Overall a great night! Hidden gem in Barcelona.

Sensual experience for food lovers. High quality ingredients combined with maestro cooking skills and service. My life feels like a success after dinner at Petit Pau restaurant. Learn and respect the tradition and go crazy innovating was the lesson we learned today. Pau, we love you.
