Pizza Concept

A few things for validation of my review and so that you can have an idea of if you’ll have similar taste to me or not–
— I’m spoiled by the food riches of San Francisco as my baseline
— American friend whom I went to the restaurant with is also from SF, but has been living in Barcelona for a year

We breezed past this place in a list of Unilocal results when using the mobile version with no photos – I mean, let’s be real, the name is pretty unattractive to us. It sounds like it’s going to be awful. And limited. And not a pasta place. But, that’s not the case. It’s awesome.
The service is cordial and would be considered good in context of other BCN restaurants. The music is not too loud, which, if you’ve been eating in Barcelona more than a couple of days, you will be thankful for. It was also not pop. It has a cozy, intimate, romantic atmosphere; they have relatively few seats but there was plenty of room on a Sunday night around 9, an still the case when we left around 10:30.
We tried the tricolor pasta stuffed with ricotta and lemon (which I think was the best dish we had), the ribbon pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage, and the tagliatelle bolognese. Dishes are about $ 10 – 15 euros at dinner for entrees. They have a large pizza menu too, of both white and regular pizzas, and they have some tapa and some antipasta.
As someone who went to culinary school in Florence for some time, their tagliatelle was really good. Thin, al dente, textured, and delicious. Everything was great, though.
Also, when following a map to get here, it is not labeled well. it is a small storefront across from a very busy café where a lot of people will be sititng an drinking, outside if it is warm enough and in if it is not. It’s on a square. It’s labeled with some other Italian restaurant’s name, and the street is very confusing on a map because it actually starts IN the square and ends at the end of the square where it dead ends. it’s like a one-​block street. We almost were giving up finding it when we said «let’s just check and see i they haven’t changed their name, the GPS says it’s right here!» and lo, the menu looked right and so was the address.

The italian food here is pretty good. Went here with a co-​worker because we were officially «tapa’d» out … we wanted some food with sustenance… and that’s exactly what we got!
I ordered the Caprese salad… Generous helpings of FRESH mozarella, tomato, and basil with an assortment of greens on the side. It was simple and fresh… and tasty…
For the main dish, I ordered the papardelle alla trufa (egg pasta with truffle, parmesan, and pimpernel buttercream). It was so delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly (al dente) and there was just the right amount of sauce. The sauce itself was creamy and you could tell they put a generous amount of truffles in there. My only complaint was that I ate so much of the Caprese Salad that I didn’t finish the pasta dish!
If you are ever in Barcelona, this little Italian place is a «must-​eat» on your gastronomy list of places to try.

Outstanding Italian food, excellent service, great location, very good prices. The owners are Italian, and the fantastic attention to the quality of the food is pure Italian. Along with a variety of pizzas, they have gnocchi, pastas, salads, and desserts. Ingredients are very fresh and highest quality. Owners are very friendly and clearly love what they are doing. Best food we’ve found in Barcelona.

Pizza Concept liegt an einem kleinen, sehr ruhigen Platz in Born. Den Platz teilen sich drei Cafes/​Bars/​Restaurants mit ihren Tischen; es ist angenehm ruhig und schattig. Die Pizza-​Stücke selbst sind leider nicht der Hammer. Bei unserem war der Teig leider extrem fettig. Dafür ist der Service sehr freundlich und spricht auch gut englisch. Die Einrichtuing innen ist modern (weiss/​rot), man kann an einem langen Tisch sitzen, der fast durchs ganze Lokal dreht. An der Wand gibt es TV-​Übertragungen (auch die WM Spiele). WiFi/​W-​Lan kostenlos.
